Drive up the hill to Sintra was wonderful as was the time spent driving along the coastline in Cascais. JLo was as usual at his best giving us a brief account of the associated historical perspective.”

Alex was a most accommodating and entertaining tour guide . Unfortunately I had recently broken my knee so I had to use crutches on our trip but this didn’t stop Alex from making the tour wonderful! He made sure a wheelchair was ready for me and was so helpful in making me walk as little as possible . We had 3 different languages in our group and we never felt left out of the conversation. We learned a lot and laughed too ! We will definitely book with this tour again !”

We were picked up at our hotel which was very convenient, but the van could have been nicer. We had become spoiled by new model Mercedes vans with plenty of room on our previous tours. That said, our tour guide was wonderful and we had a full day first visiting the National Palace Queluz and then on to Cascais (an upscale resort town), Sintra (where we had time for a lovely lunch and a little shopping) and then The Pena Palace to visit the Disney like castle. This was a very full day full of fascinating sites with a great tour guide.”

As always Viator is a reliable and expert tour operator. They are always on time, and they always do what they promise.
The tour to Sintra was fantastic, I recommend it.. The tour did not include the tickets to visit the Queluz Palace and Da Pena Palace in their interiors, but you can get tickets for 25 euros including both palaces and the transfer from where the tourist bus left to Da Pena Palace because the road distance is long and steep. Both palaces are a wonder to admire and walk aroun. Do not stop doing it !!
The tour also include free time in Sintra downtown where you can walk the small village, lunch in a lot of different restaurants, visit the National Palace in the center and take a quick look to the the Quinta da Regaleira.
After Sintra, the tour visit Cascais giving you some free time to walk around the spa town and Estoril.
I think the tour is excellent and I recommend it if you want to know and enjoy Sintra.”

It was an extremely well organised small group tour by our guide Joaquim. He is very informative, punctual and funny we even discussed about Portuguese food habits and other random topics along with the history. His recommendation was just spot on for foodies like me. We had even extra stop at Queluz palace along with Sintra and Cascais. I strongly recommend him.”

This is a must tour if you are staying in Lisbon. We were picked up from our hotel in a comfortable mini van on the due time. The drivef and guide was a wonderful and knowledgeable guy, Joaquim Lopes, who kept us entertained and informed about 1001 things throughout the day. He took us to visit Queluz Palace first, which us like a small version of Versailles. We got a combination ticket for this Palace and Pena palace in Sintra. You avoid the ticket queues in Sintra and at the same time get to see this beautiful palace, which I personally enjoyed more than Pena palace. Then on to cute Sintra for a light meal and a walk around Sintra, and a shot of ginjinja liqueur in a chocolate container. Then to chaotic Pena Palace, which was packed solid and which I was anxious to get out immediately I got in. Don't get me wrong, the palace is unique, but the crowds make it impossible to enjoy. After Pena, towards the cliffs at the end of land and Cascais, which is a gem of a place. Then back to the hotel after passing through Estoril. Thank you Joaquim for a wonderfull day.”

A good fun tour with the larger than life Jack, driver, historian and raconteur. You see the sights, the palaces, the magical castle at the top of Sintra, a ride down to Estoril where the Atlantic waves crash against the shore. Scheduled to arrive back by about 5pm were a good deal later back because jumping Jack had more things to show us. Great fun.”

Excellent tour with a very entertaining guide!
We were picked up in front of our hotel at 0845 and sat in the front of the van as there were an additional 6 already there. We then proceeded to the Palace of Queluz, all the while our guide provided stories and information about Portugal. When we arrived at Queluz, he arranged for us to purchase our tickets to there, Pena, and the bus transfer at Pena, gave us some info on the palace and grounds and allowed us about an hour and a half to explore. It is a beautiful place.
From there we headed to to Sintra and stopped off in the town. We had two hours to have lunch, explore, etc. We decided to head over to Quinta and explore their amazing grounds. It was about a ten minute walk and I believe the tickets were around 10 a piece. Bear in mind, the walk in almost entirely uphill on cobblestones and may be difficult for some. However, it is so worth it, an absolutely amazing are. We had plenty of time to come back into Sintra and enjoy some pastries and ginjihna.
We met back up with our guide by the palace and then headed up the mountain to Pena. The van can only take you to the entrance and then you can take the bus you have already purchased a transfer 3 up a steep hill to the palace door. We had about an hour and a half to explore the ground and palace. I would suggest taking the bus up and then walk back down to the entrance so you can enjoy the gardens. The views from the palace are breathtaking. I only wish there was more time so that we could have gone up to the cross at the top of the mountain quite a climb or down to the Moorish castle.
After that we headed out to the coast and got to see some incredibly large waves from the cliffs before stopping at the Boca da Inferno, a beautiful cave created by the sea. We stopped there for a bit, had a beer and then headed into Caiscais. We had about an hour and a half there to walk around.
Finally, we drove through Estoril, looked at the casino from the outside and then headed back to Lisbon. We arrived back at our hotel 1830.
All in all, it was a great tour with a great guide. I would highly recommend.”

This was a great experience. We booked last minute and completed the group of 8 on the tour. It was money well spent, as Joaquim provided door-to-door service from hotel to each sight, and back to a restaurant he recommended based on our love of Harry Potter. In fact, he often pointed out things or made recommendations personalized to the interests of the various group members. Tip--trust him on the vinho verde! He was very knowledgeable and provided much history and context during the travel times between sights. Even my 11yr old was engaged and able to apply what he told us to what we were seeing. Highly recommend this tour with Joaquim!”

A well and smart planned trip where we had the possibility to see many interesting places in one day. The guide was easy going and well aquainted with everything he told us about. Interesting to listen to him and very good to be guided in the minibus between places and walk around on your own at the sites. Restaurant recommendation from the guide about a place in Sintra turned out to be very good. Well priced, well planned and smoothly followed out tour. Suits anyone interested in seeing the best places around Lisbon.”

Excellent tour guide. Very knowledgeable. We saw a LOT. Our lunch stop was in a small and charming village, at a restaurant recommended by our guide, rather than a more tourist oriented venue. We had a wonderful time!

This was an amazing tour led by Alex who was very knowledgeable about the different sites and pretty creative in introducing some of the material. I think the small tour format ours was a group of 3 helps with being able to talk and ask more questions of the guide, compared to a larger group, as well as more time to see sites, as you aren't herding as many cats. Our food stop was amazing near Cabo de Roca. The weather was great, allowing for a great view at Cabo de Roca and then travelling the back-way through the national forest to the Sintra castle was fantastic.
I've already suggested this tour to a number of friends on Facebook and will take my family on it the next time we are all in Portugal. I still have fond memories of the Naples tour Mt. Vesuvius hike and Pompeii tour, also booked on Viator.”
