Meet your English speaking guide, jump in our van and head to Chaukhtetkyi Pagoda, home to a reclining Buddha that's one of the most honoured in the country and one of the largest in all of Myanmar.

After a short visit inside the museum, continue your tour with a walk through a local residential area until you reach Kandawgyi Park, which offers views of Shwedagon Pagoda across Kandawgyi Lake. Along the way, your guide will share local stories and anecdotes, as well as answer any questions your small group poses about local life in Yangon. Then stop at a teahouse for a tea break and some people watching before heading to Shwedagon Pagoda.

Inside the eastern entrance to the pagoda, your guide will point out a very different type of local market, which demonstrates how significant Buddhism is in the daily life of Myanmar. After exploring the market a bit, you’ll climb a long, stair-filled corridor up to the pagoda platform, accompanied by your guide’s explanation of the locals’ unique Buddhist beliefs.

The magnificent golden dome of Shwedagon Pagoda rises an impressive 322 feet (98 meters) from its base and is said to have been covered with tons of pure gold, along with numerous precious stones such as jade, rubies, sapphires and diamonds. Humbling in its beauty, the golden dome is one of the city’s most iconic sites. Observe locals and monks offering their devotions as the sun sets across the golden pagoda.

After sufficient time exploring the famous site, hop back in your minivan and head back to the meeting point, an approximate 30-minute drive away. You are welcome to remain at Shwedagon Pagoda, but you will be responsible for your own transportation back to the city center.

Really wonderful experience--Kay was extremely knowledgeable and more than happy to answer all of our questions. We were lucky in that there were only 2 of us on the tour and got a very private and in depth experience.

this tour is amazing! definitely dont miss! our guide myo set it perfectly. a little side tour first until the main shwedagon pagoda. this enabled us to see the grandeur of the pagoda at different lightings dusk till evening. amazing pics! myo also know the best angles to take them. he also encourage us to make a wish at the appropriate spot that makes the trip more personal. definitely will recommend.

This tour was certainly worth it! Our tour guide, Myo, was very professional and knowledgeable. I would certainly recommend small group tour if it is your first time trip to Yangon, or if you would like to explore the cultural side of the city.

I was the only one on my tour which was no issue at all for the company. I had a beautiful air con car fab driver and my tour guide Kay was exceptional. Not sure if every group gets such a special time but I felt nothing was too much and I was shown a few little extras. Tasted some street food, all round fantastic.

A very competent and nice guide was helping to understand the complexity of the visited pagodas. He definitely caught my attention.

Our guide was great and told us a lot. But it was a bit confusing at the beginning when we realised that the tour was not the same as in the program. No teahouse or Museum. But instead we went to see one of the big Budda statues. We had a car that drove us around all the time which was convenient.

Really good tour. Fascinating place learning about different Buddhist beliefs. Well worth a trip.

I was the only person on the trip. Once the guide was located, had a wonderful afternoon seeing the old colonial buildings, visiting Scotts Market but the highlight was a visit to Aung San museum, not available on many tours. Con: the guide should be more easy to identify- City hall is a very busy place with buses, and very few people who speak English. The red t-shirt is not easy to spot. Requires a flag to stand out in the crowds, but once found had a good afternoon.

This was not a good experience. Our instructions were to wait outside City Hall opposite Sule pasgoda at least ten minutes before 12.30. So we waited there in broiling sun for an hour before giving up aand returning to our hotel. When I rang they said we should have been waiting somewhere else and implied it was our fault! Anyway they sent a car driver and took us to the museum which was pretty small but very interesting, then went to the lake where we walked around a bit - not much information goven though. We decidede to forgo the Shwedagon as we had been ourselves the evening before. They did offer to take us to a different pagoda but wed had enough so they took us back to the hotel. Disappointing!

The only two things good about this trip was (1) Our guide Kaye and (2) the beautiful Pagoda. I have always used Viator in my other trips but this is the first time that I've experienced the worst service. First of all, the tour promised a coach, but from the meeting place, our guide had to hire two cabs to bring us to the first spot - the Bogyoke Museum - and it was raining. From Bogyoke Museum, we had to travel by foot to Shwedagon Pagoda, what is supposed to be a 5 minute ride turned out to be a 20 minute walk - again in the rain - to the Pagoda. We didn't expect this kind of service from Viator. We were all soaking wet by the time we were in the Pagoda. THe only thing that saved the day was our guide who was very good.
