This was one of the highlights of our break in Marrakesh
The guide was Ibrahim and was from a Berber family still living in the mountains - he was also still resident with his family so had a real knowledge of the history of the mountains and the people who live there. He was also very amiable and took great pride in in his heritage and looking after us.
There was the option of a 2-3 hour trek as part of the tour to a waterfall then back down into the village for lunch or we could be dropped into the village by the minibus - i would highly recommend the trek as a way of experiencing the landscape so would suggest suitable footwear, trainers are fine but sandals/flip flops would be a difficult,
The tour was great value with camel ride, small breakfast and tea in the village.
Lunch was not included but was very tasty ( veg option available) and really good value
I would highly recommend this tour away from the hustle and bustle of Marrakesh”

We had a great experience. Our driver and guide, Zin and hMad, were both great. Very friendly, entertained us during the ride with local music. Our guide spoke English well enough to explain all we asked and guide us around. The day was well organized and both men did everything to assist us. Would definately recommend.”

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this day trip to the atlas mountains. Our driver was prompt, and we had only two other couples with us. The camel ride was fun, and a little different for someone used to horses. They dress you up in Berber clothing (a throw over shawl and a head wrap) which makes for good pictures. Once you arrive in the three valleys you head on a walking tour with a guide different from the driver. Ours, Mohammad (also went by Babala), was fantastic. Highly recommend him, he even invited us back for tea at his home which was a real treat!
Couple tips though, there is a decent walking portion with a couple hundred feet of elevation gain over rough terrain. Make sure to wear good shoes, or even boots. A couple in our group had sandals on and made it, but it didn't look fun. Cell services is also surprisingly good.
Don't miss this one!”

We weren't really sure what to do during our 4 day stay in Marrakech so decided to partake in a day experience excursion, with this day trip being one of them. After an early start and pick up time, we drove out with the rest of our group for what was less than an hour to a secluded flat land area where you experience a camel ride prefaced with some mint tea. Don't really get your hopes up on this part of the day trip, as the camels are all tied up to one another from front to back and you spend what felt like forever just roaming around flat lands. It was pretty neat that they do provide you with traditional looking clothes to wear during your camel ride experience though, so I'll give them that.
Following the camel experience, we were then driven out for about 1.5 hours or so near the mountain areas with a pit stop in between to have breakfast at an argon oil shop. The argon oil stop was alright... it wasn't amazing but it was neat to learn about the process of how the argon oil is supposedly made from de-shelling the nuts to grinding and final process of everything. I say "supposedly" only because it's really hard to tell if most (if not all) of the products sold at these places are truly done by these women and not by some industrial machine located off site (call me a skeptic I guess).
Finally, we get to the good part which takes up the rest of the trip, where we arrive at the mountains and were greeted and welcomed by our very friendly and educated tour guide Omar. Fair warning to those looking into this excursion: there is a lot of trekking from this point on till you get picked up again for your trip back home. It isn't a full on hardcore hiking experience, but if you have difficulty walking around uneven elevations or struggle with inclined steps, then you should probably consider opting out.
Anyway, away from that tangent and back to the trekking! Throughout the journey, we came across beautiful views, waterfalls (not as huge and glamorous as you might think, but still a worthwhile experience in my opinion), and finally an awesome lunch experience at a Berber house that left us leaving in a food coma after burning all those calories!
With all that being said, I don't think our experience would have been as eventful and culturally eye opening without Omar being our tour guide and sharing all his experiences and knowledge about the area!”

Fantastic tour, picked up by Abdul and taken to a few stops before meeting our guide Hassan Akdax in a mountain village. He took us on a hike through beautiful mountains and villages, visiting a beautiful waterfall finishing with an amazing meal on a rooftop looking our surrounded by mountains. Probably the best food we have had on our trip and the guides were so good.”

What a great experience, the camel rides were awesome and the Atlas Mountain Tour were great. Our Tour guide Kamal was very informative and helped taking photos of us along the sightseeing stops on the way. Then our local guide who was also excellent, Mohammad took us up the mountain where we saw some awesome views of waterfalls and other sites from the top. Make sure you are ready for some serious climbing and good walking shows but the effort is worth it when you get to the top. Thanks for a great day”

This was the highlight of our trip. The drive up to the mountains was scenic and were able to take pictures along the way. The Berber Tour Guide, Hassan, was amazing. He a beautiful spirit and made sure my Mother was able to finish the journey. Please wear hiking shoes or shoes with good treads, this is a HIKE NOT a walk. It is worth the trip, but please be prepared. And when you get to the waterfall, get a glass of orange juice, you will thank me later!”

This tour was one of the best we have taken. The van picked us up from Hotel cafe de France right at 915am and we were quickly on the road to the mountains. The van was new, clean, and quite comfortable. The driver was pleasant and explained what we were seeing as we drove. The camel ride was excellent. Stopping for mint tea and bread and a no pressure show of how argan oil is produced was a nice break in the drive to the Imlil valley. The hike to the waterfall was about an hour. I recommend good comfortable shoes and to bring plenty of water! The hike through the mountains then brought us to another stop for mint tea and wonderful views of the villages and snow capped peaks. Our guide then brought us over to his village for a great lunch (not included, but only 65 dirham). Our fay ended at the home of our guide for a final mint tea and walnuts.
Overall the experience was phenomenal and an absolute bargain of a day trip. I can't recommend this tour enough!”

I would recommend this experience to anyone visiting Marrakech. Our drive to the mountains was perfect and very scenic. Our driver made sure we knew all the landmarks we were passing. Also we got to ride camels as our first pit stop complete with Berber outfits. Then on our way we also visited an organ cooperative and got to learn about the amazing work the Morrocan women do in the making of Argan products. We also bought a bottle. Finally we met up with our hiking tour guide Omar and he was a pleasure to hike with as he made our hike an enjoyable experience by taking us to waterfalls and explaining mire about the views along the way. We got to enjoy delicious mint tea along the way and had truly the best lunch in all of Marrakech. I challenge someone to tell me they had anything better food related in Marrakech. Finally towards the end Omar invited us to his home where we finished our hike with some more tea and met his family. Would highly recommend this trip”

Stayed in Marrakesh for 3 1/2 days. The city is great but with the hustle and bustle and constant noise, this is the perfect way to escape.... enjoyed learning interesting things about the region from our guide Ali....the mountain scenery is stunning and very much enjoyed the walk (Ali was happy to vary the walk to suit all preferences, was great that it was shady given the heat of the day). A very tasty lunch at the Mountain Paradise Chalet. A very enjoyable day.”

This tour was a lovely day out for a very reasonable price. Shortly after we were picked up we stopped for a camel ride and they even provided clothing to protect us from the sun, which was fun. We also stopped for tea and saw ladies making Argan oil and tried some of the products. After that we drove to a valley where we met another guide, Hassan, who took us on a walking tour through villages and pathways to a couple of waterfalls, vistas and a nice lunch. For a taste of the Atlas mountains and some contact with the local people, plus some nice sights, I have no hesitation in recommending this tour.”

We were very pleased with our day trip to the Atlas mountains! Lots of great memories. The visit to the women’s Argan oil collective was a great way to start the day… breakfast + tea and then getting to try some of the processes alongside the women. The staff there was very friendly.
The camel ride was just the right length - long enough to get the experience (~30 min) without taking up too much of the day. We had a good hike up to the Berber village stopping at a waterfall along the way. Our guide, Hassan, did an excellent job since the beginning of the trip, of matching the pace of our group and sharing tidbits of information all along the way. Very helpful and considerate. The Lunch in the village was very tasty and the experience was a lot of fun.
However, we think the best part for me was the opportunity to go to Hassan’s home, meet some of his family and have a very special tea outside overlooking the mountains. An experience We’ll never forget!!
This Day Trip is something we fully recommend for those who are like a real local experience.”

The highlight of this day trip from Marrakech to the Atlas Mountains was the section where we met our hiking guide, Hassan. When I travel, I want to learn about the culture and the people, not just eat good food and see the “sights”. At the end of a very long hike up to see a waterfall, and a good tagine lunch at a guesthouse, Hassan invited us to have tea at his own home, a real honor for us all. He told us about the way of life in his village, their struggles, and their sense of community. He made tea for us.
On the way up to the waterfall, he was busy running back to give us old people a hand over the rocks and slippery sections, encouraging us all the time. He showed genuine concern for us all, even as he told us the history of this part of Morocco.. I would highly suggest you book the tour - ask for Hassan!”

We were picked up on time from our hotel by Mohamed Chedaf our driver. The drive to the mountains took about an hour and ten picking up our guide, Omar Bousserhan, on the way. We stopped for a camel ride dressed like Lawrence of Arabia. Great fun. The mountain views and waterfalls were stunning.Better still was our walk up into a Berber village. We were invited in to Omar's sisters house and given mint tea. Great hopitality. The lunch was excellent. Delicious salads and chicken tagine.
We would thorouly recommend this trip. Thank you Omar!”

I highly recommend both a trip to the Altlas Mountains and going through this tour operator! We were picked-up in the morning near our Riad, a despite booking the trip the night before - the logistics went smoothly. The trip began with a 20min drive and a short stop to ride camels. Nothing super special but still fun. We then made another stop at an argan oil cooperative which was nice and more affordable than other similar cooperatives I've visited. As we approached the Mountains, we made multiple stops for photos and saw a beautiful old Berber-Jewish village in the hillside. The driver was kind, pointed out different sites to us, and stopped to show us different views. After about 2hrs of driving, we arrived in Imlil where we met our guide for the rest of the day, Omar.
Omar took us on a 1.5hr-2hr hike through multiple Berber villages and a waterfall. The hike itself should be accessible to most people unless you have any specific health conditions or walking constraints. With the exception of two 15min periods where the hike was steeper, most of the walk was relatively flat. Additionally, Omar kept a good pace, with plenty of quick breaks, frequent check-ins on how we were doing, and a quick stop for tea. Omar was also very friendly and provided good company to the small group. Throughout the hike we saw beautiful mountain passes and villages ticked in between valleys - it was great! The hike ends with a late afternoon lunch at a Berber guest house. The food was quite good and the lunch restful. Overall, a great day trip for anyone looking to escape the chaotic Marrakech medina!”

We had a really great time on this tour even though it was a really long hike! My sister and five year old ended up taking a mule but had a great time. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He served us tea in his home where we met his lovely wife. Lunch was amazing at a local restaurant. I would highly recommend.”

This was such an awesome tour. Mohammed was our driver and Omar our guide. Pickup was punctual, Omar explained the plans for the day. Our first stop was an oil village where they make Moroccan oil. They showed us how they use the buts to produce this amazing oil. Then we went to our next stop and started our hike to the waterfall. It was a pretty steep climb and takes about 2 hours in total for the full hike, so was very happy I opted for the mule ride instead. Then after the waterfall we had an amazing lunch consisting of Moroccan bread, a delicious tomato based appetizer, chicken tagine, and fruit for desert. Finally, Omar took us to his house and served Moroccan mint tea and a delicious chocolate cake.”

Incredible hike through the berber villages and into the atlas mountains. Stunning views. Our guide Mohamed Idali was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Answered any questions and was very helpful. Argan oil was a nice stop, no pressure to buy. Skip the camal ride unless you have children or just want the photos. Would book again!”

This excursion is a MUST if you want to experience the true Morocco of the Atlas Mountains and the lives and culture of the indigenous Berbers who live there.
Our guide Issmail was amazing! Not only was he incredibly considerate and conscious of our differing needs but incredibly knowledgeable too. Everyone throughout the valleys we travelled knew him and showed our party nothing but kindness and hospitality. The food was absolutely delicious too.
We couldn't recommend this trip more...well worth every penny. if you re considering going on this excursion, and we recommend you do,make sure Issmail is your guide and Tichka your driver...they made our day very special and memorable. Thankyou Guys!”
