Overnight: Casablanca

Day 2

Marrakech City Tour

Casablanca - Marrakech. This morning after breakfast we head to Marrakech to meet the rest of the group before embarking on a guided city tour of Marrakech. Inside the rose coloured medina walls is a tangle of winding streets and alleys that open onto verdant gardens and bustling souks. At the heart of the medina is Djemaa El Fna, the city's exuberant market place and towering over it, is the famous Koutoubia Mosque, the tallest building in the city.
Overnight: Marrakech  |  Breakfast, Dinner

Day 3

Ait Benhaddou - UNESCO World Heritage Listed

Marrakech - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate. Departing the city this morning we travel across the plains of haouz and reach the great High Atlas mountains. Climbing over the pass of Tizi n Tichka, we stop for lunch and then continue onwards with great views over the Mountains and valleys to Ait Benhaddou. This incredible ancient fortified Kasbah was built for defence purposes high on a hill and is a stunningly well preserved medieval city which has famously featured in many blockbuster movies, including Gladiator and Laurence of Arabia as its beauty is unequal to any other fortified kasbah in south Morocco. Carrying on we continue south to the Hollywood of North Africa – Ouarzazate (pronounced war-zazat). Ouarzazate is famous for being the filming location for many other Hollywood blockbusters and famous TV shows including James Bond – The Living Daylights, The Mummy and more recently Game of Thrones.
Overnight: Ouarzazate  |  Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4

Camel trek into the Sahara

Ouarzazate - Todra Gorge - Merzouga (Sahara). This morning we begin our journey into the Sahara with a medley of palm trees, rose fields and magnificent gorges. Travelling from Ouarzazate, there is a possibility of visiting the kasbah Amherdhil in Skoura before seeing the rose fields and reaching scenic Todra Gorge. Surrounded by towering vertical limestone cliffs reaching heights of 1000ft, it is known as Morocco’s Grand Canyon. The charm of Todra lies in its changing colours as the sun slowly moves from east to west. After time to wander through Todra we hit the road again for Merzhouga – our base before we head into the Sahara. Depending on the time of year, spend the afternoon relaxing and swimming before climbing aboard our camels for an incredible trek into the Sahara Desert to watch a beautiful sunset and spend the night at our remote Berber Camp, nestled amongst the towering dunes of Erg Chebbi. We enjoy local food, music and an amazing night camping in the Sahara.

If you would prefer the comfort of a hotel with en-suite facilities this evening, opt for our Sahara hotel alternative at no additional cost. Please do let us know your preferred option at the time of booking.
Overnight: Berber Camp  |  Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5

Fes

Merzouga (Sahara) - Fes. Departing early, we climb back on our camels disembarking for a truly stunning sunrise. After freshening up and breakfast in Merzouga we’re back on the road heading for Fes. It’s a long drive today however there is a lot to see on the way. We’ll pass through cedar forests full of Barbary Macaque monkeys on our way through the Moyen Atlas mountains. Just before Fes we stop at Ifrane – a beautiful town often likened to a Swiss Alpine resort. Along the way we also start to see our first glimpse of Morocco’s nomadic Berbers – travelling across the mountains and often staying in make shift tents as they head to their next destination. We arrive into Fes in the early evening.
Overnight: Fes  |  Breakfast, Lunch

Day 6

UNESCO listed Fes el Bali, dye-pits & tanneries

Fes is the oldest and largest medieval city in the world and its medina is a cacophony of aromas, sights and sounds. This morning we enjoy a guided tour of Fes el Bali - the old walled city. This fascinating medina is a veritable rabbit warren of 9400 alleys that often finish with dead ends – so be sure to stay close to the group! We also visit the dye-pits and tanneries before lunch in the medina. The remainder of the day is at leisure – why not take part in an optional Tagine Making Class or a night of Moroccan entertainment and food at a restaurant in town (both payable locally).
Overnight: Fes  |  Breakfast

Day 7

Volubilis & Meknes

Fes - Volubilis - Meknes - Rabat. Departing Fes this morning we visit the fascinating UNESCO listed Roman ruins of Volubilis, which date back to AD40. Continuing on we stop at the Imperial City of Meknes, which became known as the Versailles of Morocco due to its impressive buildings and elaborate monuments. After lunch and some free time our final stop of the day is Rabat – Morocco’s capital where we overnight.
Overnight: Rabat  |  Breakfast

Day 8

Rabat & Casablanca

Rabat - Casablanca. This morning we take a guided tour of Rabat and visit some of the capital’s highlights, including the impressive Chellah - a necropolis and complex of ancient, medieval ruins, the Royal Palace and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V. After lunch we continue to Casablanca where we visit the Hassan II Mosque, which has the tallest minaret and is the third largest mosque in the world - it can hold 25,000 worshippers at any one time. After our visit to the mosque we say goodbye to our fellow passengers continuing on to Marrakech and check in to our hotel in Casablanca.

Excellent tour. Our guide Hicham was very knowledgeable and gave us a great insight into the country and it’s history delivered with a touch of humour making everyone feel comfortable. Went beyond the standards by being very responsive to all requests. 10/10. Must also commend our driver, Ali, great fun and always helpful for all or logistics. All round we had a great time.

One thing for sure, two things for certain, The 9 day Road to Casablanca tour was beyond spectacular. Our guide Hicham Tora was superb, knowledgeable and attentive to our group's needs. We all agreed it was by far the best tour experience we had ever experienced!

This was our fourth OTG tour and the first which we felt is in need of improvement. By this I mean the itinerary not the guide.

Our tour guide Hicham was totally excellent throughout going well beyond his normal responsibilities and time to assist various members of the group with a number of demands and issues from start to finish. He remained knowledgeable, positive, reliable and as far as I know never failed to deal with anything thrown up in the tour, an asset and to OTG.

To be honest I did not think our visit to Rabat was worth it and believe it would be better to extend time spent in Fes. This is undoubtedly the most interesting of all the places we visited and clearly demanded more time. Therefore I would recommend OTG consider arranging two nights in Fes and skip Rabat altogether. The day guide in Fes was really very good (as was the guide in Marrakech) both much better than the guide in Rabat whose English was not really good enough.

Hicham was terrific-very knowledgeable, kind and professional. He made the tour!! I was disappointed in the accomodations but I understand that I was not to expect the same level of comfort in Morocco that I am accustomed to at home.

This was our first time using On the Go Tour and we would definitively consider using them again. Our tour guide Jamal was a wealth of knowledge and always made sure we were taken care of. As a vegetarian, I was concerned about the food and what I would be able to eat at time, but Jamal ensured I never went hungry and informed the restaurant as soon as we got there. Our tour group was small enough where we got to know the other members personally and didn't feel like we were on a large bus being shuttled around. Jamal showed a lot of the history, daily life, and culture of Morocco and felt that I learned a lot more through the tour than I would have if my wife and I were travelling by ourselves. We enjoyed the smaller cities, kasbahs, learning how berber carpet was made, and taking a camel ride through the Sahara. We got to end our trip in Marrakech where we travelled through the souks, enjoyed the local botanical gardens, and explored the city on our own. Thanks to On the Go Tours and Jamal for making our vacation memorable. I would say some of the hotels weren't as nice as others; however, we were prepared and knew that four star hotels in Morocco didn't equate to four star hotels in the US. When we got to Marrakesh, we spoke with Jamal and were able to get an upgrade at the hotel (of course we paid a small differential), and it was a fantastic hotel centrally located.

Guide and driver were great! Lhoucine and Ali were extremely attentive. It was my first organised tour and it was a very positive experience. Morocco was great. Some of the hotels, i.e. Casablanca were not as nice as some of the others. All the riads were beautiful but the others not so much. It would be nice to be able to upgrade, even if it cost more. It would be nice to have more time on our own in some of the towns but I understand I should have picked a different tour then.

I am so grateful for my tour guide (Jamal) throughout my tour through Morocco. He was extremely welcoming and caring for all my travel companions. Our travel group (including Jamal and our driver Mustapha) became very close and it made travelling fun, exciting and immensely comforting. Both were so kind and it made a huge difference, which our entire group agreed.

Aziz was a very knowledgeable, gracious tour guide. We had wonderful treats like the evening we went walking through the paddocks around a small farming village and had tea in a persons home. Extra special. Aziz also showed his wonderful caring and kindness when I managed to come down with Morocco tummy. One comment about the tour I would have loved to have a day off when we came off the Desert a day at the hotel. swimming in the pool and relaxing would have been perfect.

A wonderful tour in all respects. Jamal provided all we could wish for and coped with the age difference in our group (20's to 80) extremely well. The 9 am starts were most welcome and the attractions we covered were amazing. Morocco has so much to offer and we felt we saw most of it in a wonderful way. Hotels (except Rabat) were great and unique, food was distinctive and people friendly and helpful. Jamal and Mustafa, our driver were also amazing in the heat with no water in Ramadan. We would highly recommend Jamal on Facebook, except we do not use it.

All up, thank you On the Go, from two experienced travelling oldies, for a exceptional holiday.

I really loved the tour. I only have two complaints - 1. during the tour of Fez through the Medina - I wish we had had more time for shopping. 2. the van could have been a little larger. Mind you there were only 12 of us and the van seated 14. Some of the seats were over humps (tires) and some of the seat belts were digging into the sides of my hip. People are getting larger - LOL! Other than that - I had a wonderful time and would recommend this tour and On the Go Tours to any and everyone. And I plan to use them again when I go on my next tour next year.

I couldn’t recommend a guide more highly than Jamal. He was always watching after us and making sure that all our needs were met. He went above and beyond his duties many times. Above all he has a wonderful sense of humor, warmth and a great deal of knowledge. He made our holiday and because of him I would book with On the Go Tours again!
