Walk amongst large free ranging "mobs" (groups) of wild kangaroos. Spot Emus, Cockatoos and other unique Australian wildlife on the grassland, in the bush and around the billabongs of Melbourne's Western Plains.

Visit an open forest in a National Park that is home to a large and healthy population of wild koalas. The koalas research project ensures that on most days you'll have multiple sightings of these delightful creatures.

Within easy reach from the center of the city of Melbourne, these environments provide the perfect introduction to Australia's unique wildlife and indigenous culture. The area you walk through is of great significance to the local Aboriginal People of the Wathaurong Tribe. Freshwater lakes and billabongs nearby provided a rich food source for them, and some signs of their occupation still remain. Your guide will share their knowledge with you.

You will be provided with a picnic lunch, served in an open-air setting at the sanctuary, and includes fruit and cakes, coffee and delicious Australian "Billy tea".

Expert Nature Guides:

You will be guided on this journey by friendly, experienced and knowledgeable nature guides. Many hours of research work proceed the tour to ensure that you see and learn about native wildlife in its natural environment. Guides carry two way radios which link them to the office and to emergency services.

Easy Walking:

Although this tour is vehicle based, most of the day is spent outside the vehicle on a number of easy, flat terrain, bush walks so that you can get close to nature. Passengers must be able to walk unassisted at least 500m on uneven dirt surfaces. There may be up to 5 walks of this duration during the tour.

Dan was an outstanding guide who has a passion for conservation and protection of koalas. We learned a great deal of information about the research that is being done and how koalas are being protected. We experienced an amazing sighting of a mob of kangaroos and were thrilled with lunch and tea. Wow! This tour is a must!!!

We did the tour in April and the weather was a bit cool. But what an amazing day. We saw so many animals and our guide was very informative. We also had a lovely lunch. Definitely recommend and not too far from Melbourne. Make sure you take insect repellent though we both ended up covered in bites. Worth it though.

We could not schedule through Viking so we went out on our own and are thankful that we did. There were 8 of us in a van with our personal guide Martin. He made every effort to make sure that we saw everything there was to see. If we had gone with Viking it would have been 1/40 people and cost quite a bit more.

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about Australian wildlife. He made sure we saw kangaroos and koalas up close. This tour was so educational and fun!

It was a wonderful, once in a lifetime experience. Great staff - knowledgeable and friendly. Amazing to see these animals out in the wild and not in a zoo.

Great experience as we were able to walk-a-bout to locate koalas and kangaroos in the wild. Learned how to make outback tea this group hosts additional tours which if I ever have a chance to visit again, I would book additional tours with this group.

We were lucky and we were alone on the trip so it was really individual safari. The guide was great - scope of information we've received was full. We've seen koalas, kangaroos and emus plenty of bird species.

This was an excellent tour with a very knowledgeable, experienced and personable tour guide Mike. We were taken into the You Yangs and spotted lots of kangaroo's and wallabies. We also were able to observe a stumped tail lizard, an echidna, a brushy-tailed possum and even a large 2 metre brown snake of which we gave a wide berth. And we finally found the elusive kola. We then travelled to the nearby Serendip Sanctuary where we were provided a fabulous lunch topped off by a wonderful desert of Anzac cookies and Lamington cake and a billy of tea made from eucalyptus leaves that we had picked. In the afternoon we observed numerous emus including a mother with 8 young playing in the water. We also saw a blue tongue lizard, kangaroos, wallabies and a nest of a a restless fly catcher. All in all an excellent tour. I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience a taste of life in the wilds of Australia.

Bret, our tour guide, is very good at his job. He clearly loves animals. He and the other trackers knew where to find the animals. We very much enjoyed seeing the koalas, birds, etc. But the highlight was definitely seeing, following, and observing the mobs of kangaroos. Worth every penny.

We had absolutely lovely time. We were lucky enough to spot 3 Koalas and many kangaroos and also other animals, birds... This was worth every penny and minute! Kellie is an expert guide and knows everything about Koalas and Kangaroos and every other animal and plant. They do research on Koalas, and document their activities on the tour. The tour helps with conservation and preserving the habitat for Koalas. I was amazed how much I learned! We got very close to a huge mob of kangaroos and saw some Koalas pretty clearly, high in the trees. The mountains are very pretty. It was a small group and we go to take our time and enjoy the day. Highly recommended!

I had an awesome time in the You Yangs Regional park, could spot many kangaroos, koalas, colorful birds sorry I don't have all names in mind...We managed to get close enough to the animals to get some nice photographs. I highly recommend this tour to those who like nature and wildlife, that is animals in the wild not in a zoo. The tour guide Emma was also super nice and informative. What else? just had one day off during this trip to Australia, and I made the most of it thanks to Echnida.

We loved the Walkabout tour! We spotted koalas in their natural habitat. The eucalyptus forest was beautiful. Lovely lunch, then we were off to find kangaroos! We spotted about 30 of them in a field, all watching us, watching them. Much better than seeing them penned up in a zoo. Loved our guide!

I was on many similar tours in other countries, but this one was the experience on its own. We was the koalas and kangaroos in the wilderness and not in the sanctuary it is more or less the same as the zoo. The guide was very experienced and she really tried to find the animals and explained their behavior and how we should act not to scare them. It is a must see tour, if you are in Australia.

This is as close to a bush walk as you can get without going into the outback, and it's more authentic than going to another zoo. The stated focus of the tour is koalas and kangaroos, but our guide was excited to look for other animals along the way birds, emus. We saw several Great Eastern Kangaroos and koalas at a short distance. The five or so short hikes throughout the day were easy and well-paced. The guides communicate with each other so they know where the animals are located, and we easily switched locations to ferret out the best viewing opportunities. The guide used a headset microphone to communicate in the small van so it's easy to hear the commentary. Small group tour is the only way to go! Highly recommend. Go on the coolest day possible so the animals are more active.

Great tour. We had a very lucky day on the tour. We saw over 50 kangaroos in the sanctuary. One even had a joey is her pouch. Bring binoculars is you have them. Otherwise, our guide had a pair to use. We were lucky to see 3 koala bears in the wild at the regional park. We also saw quite a few Emus. The lunch was very good. Our guide was great. If you're looking for a wildlife, bush walk adventure, I would recommend this one. Loved it.
