Trips and Tours to Kota Belud

About Kota Belud

The bustling town of Kota Belud northeast of Kota Kinabalu - the capital of Sabah, is the perfect stopover point for forays into the region known as the 'rice bowl of Sabah'. Surrounded by paddy fields and rubber plantations dotted with small villages, it's a particularly picturesque region with the imposing peak of Mount Kinabalu looming in the distance. The town itself is definitely worth a little time on a Sunday when it hosts a lively Sunday market, known as a 'tamu'. Vendors, hagglers and hawkers bring the place to life as they arrive from villages across the area looking to sell and buy wares. In town you'll also find a hilltop gold mosque inspired by Mughal architecture with attractive views across the town.
