Visit the historic battle site of El Alamein and pay your respects to the British and Commonwealth soldiers who gave their lives during the Second World War, plus explore an enlightening local war museum, on this Egypt Day Tour.
Departing early in the morning head north towards the Mediterranean coast to El Alamein, a historic battle ground that played an important role in the Second World War. Here some 13,000 British and Commonwealth soldiers gave their lives in two extended battles, and today their sacrifice is commemorated in a desert war cemetery with row upon row of grave stones and memorials to British, Australian and New Zealand soldiers.
On site also visit an enlightening local war museum, which tells the story of El Alamein through war memorabilia. The gardens outside of the museum are scattered with huge army tanks and large scale weaponry that were used during the battles of El Alamein. Inside there are five halls, each dedicated to a country involved in the war, with uniforms, weapons, models and records on display.
