On this afternoon-long, leisurely-paced food tour, we were introduced to Hungarian cheeses, meats, pastries and drinks. We made at least seven stops in the Central Market and the old city. Our guide, Ange, was a gifted hostess. Her enthusiasm was infectious and her knowledge of the local cuisine made each meal even better. When choosing a food tour in Budapest, choose this one.

Our recent trip to Budapest was very enjoyable, connected with a great interesting foodie walking tour, with some great past history, and Quirkey gems of shops and markets, shared with dear family, Our tour guide Peter was so welcoming and helpful. With thanks. From Darragh Kelly, Shane Kelly and Daniel Kelly. November 30th 2019.

Ange led us around the city sampling wares from different places as well as giving us some background on the city itself, politics and history. Great tour - highly recommended.

We had a fabulous tour guide and a very enjoyable walk around the city. We sampled lots of food, learned interesting information about Budapest, and checked out some fantastic places we never would have known about.

We totally enjoyed our time with our guide, Angie, on this tour. She was friendly, knowledgeable and able to answer questions we had about food, history and Budapest in general. We went to a variety of places so there was something for everyone. Angie also went the extra mile and sent us a list of the places we visited, recipes and photos. THANK YOU Angie!

Very comprehensive food tour. Our guide Gergo was fantastic. He knew everyone’s name on the tour (maybe a dozen of us on the tour), very impressed! Gergo took us to places we would never have found on our own and we had a great sampling of the local cuisine. Highly recommend this tour!

Fanni was our tour guide, and her sweet and bubbly personality made our tour twice as fun. She took us to 5 bars/restaurants. We enjoyed wine spritzers, deep fried carp, venison and truffle sausage, donkey sausage, summer and winter sausages, white fish dip, foie gras dip, chicken Paprikash, trifle for dessert, and a unique Hungarian dessert of chocolate covered cottage cheese roll flavored with lime and sugar. Altogether a wonderful afternoon in a small group. Fanni left us with an email containing recipes for some of the dishes we sampled. She was also kind enough to call us a cab using her app. We highly recommend the tour, and Fanni in particular as a guide.

This was a good mix of culture, sights and food. The ruin bars were a nice surprise - would not have known about them otherwise. Would have like the opportunity to try langos on the tour since it is quite iconic. I went back to a place after, but it was huge and would have been better taste tested by the group since we walked past the place anyway. Definitely recommend this tour. Very nice guide.

This was an excellent walking tour, Fanni our guide was very knowledgeable and had an excellent way of talking around all the Hungarian food and culture that we encountered as we walked around. Lots of interesting food to sample - we had some paprikash for the main meal part (similar to goulash), salami (several pork, venison, goose and horse which I didn’t personally try), traditional Jewish soup, trout chips, smoked trout, several fish patè’s, chocolate, sweets etc. I would highly recommend it as a more interesting way to explore Budapest!

What a wonderful job Zsuzsi did with our small group food tour in Bucharest. She combined history with culinary expertise in visiting six locations to sample the wares. We did an extensive tour of the Market and learned much about Hungarian specialties including sampling from a large assortment of sausages. Other stops sampled drinks, gelato, fish (carp), soup and goulash. It was supposed to be a lunch tour but dinner was not needed that evening.

Wow- what a great way to see the city, while experiencing the culture and learning about Hungarian lifestyle via a variety of foods and locations. Our tour guide, Dori, was great and gave personal perspectives on everything from locations, to food preparation, typical household dining customs, and more. I thought the tour sounded good, but it was way better than I'd even expected. Very fun to try different foods in different locations throughout the city while learning about the culture. Highly recommend.

This tour was so much fun! Our guide Dori was amazing. We tried chocolate, salami, fish, goulash, and strudels as well as some other small foods. The walk inbetween each place was a short easy walk and Dori pointed out and explained multiple sights as we went. It was a great way to try a bunch of different foods while seeing some of the sights! Highly recommend.

Monika was amazing -- not only did she take us to a great variety of places and help us to experience tasty food and beverages, but she went out of her way to explain the cultural significance and history of the area Central Market, ruin bars, etc.. It was like sitting down to eat with family, rather than being on a paid excursion. We have taken food tours in many cities, but this one in Budapest with Monika was definitely the very best.

It's always great to eat good food and learn interesting things about the city at the same time. Whenever we travel, we try to take advantage of Viator's food tours and we've never been disappointed.

Gergo is an exemplary: passionate guide, gastronome and historian. A fine ambassador for Budapest. We tasted so many delicious examples of authentic Budapest food via the various bakers, delicatessens, stall holders, chocolatiers, bar proprietors and restaurateurs we could not eat for the rest of the day! His perceptive attention to detail meant every participants needs were satisfied. His advice included further restaurant, bar and market locations, which allowed us to fine dine, drink and buy authentic souvenirs inexpensively for the rest of the week. I recommend this tour without reservation as a must do activity especially on your first day for anyone visiting Budapest.

Went on this tour with Gergo, he was enthusiastic and knowledgable. Lots of variety from the cured meats at the market hall, to the fish restaurant, kosher style restaurant and finally goulash and strudel at the strudel house. One thing to note - the tour started in the central market hall but doesn't spend much time there, either come early or make time to return on another day.
