Iceland Travel Advice for South African Travellers

The safety of our travellers is of utmost importance and we keep informed of the latest travel updates on Iceland. We recommend that you check the latest travel advice from the consular in South Africa before you travel.

Flying to Iceland from South Africa:

Iceland is roughly a 16-18 hour flight from South Africa depending on whether you depart from Cape Town or Johannesburg. Reykjavik is the main hub for international transportation to Iceland and where our tours start and end. If flying from Johannesburg a number of European carriers operate the route with a stop en route. We recommend Air France via Paris, British Airways via London and KLM via Amsterdam. For the majority of flights from South Africa, Iceland Air will operate the final leg of the journey from the transit point to Reykjavik. Check out Travelstart for flight deals from South Africa to Iceland.
