In addition to accommodating the emperors and their households, it was the ceremonial and political centre of the Mughal state and the setting for events critically impacting the region.Every year on the Independence day of India (15 August), the Prime Minister hoists the Indian "tricolour flag" at the main gate of the fort and delivers a nationally broadcast speech from its ramparts.Emperor Shah Jahan commissioned construction of the Red Fort on 12 May 1638, when he decided to shift his capital from Agra to Delhi.

Very pleased indeed with all aspects of our tour. For us everything went like clockwork from being picked up at our hotel to being dropped off. Thanks to all involved but in particular Sanjeeta who was excellent. Her enthusiasm ,knowledge and kindness were outstanding and she ensured we had a very fulfilling day in Dehli. We had a pre prepared list of things we wanted to experience and she more than accommodated us .lunch is not included on the tour but Sanjeeta and our driver went out of their way to ensure we were accommodated. Sanjeeta was happy to answer any questions we ask .She was also happy to take photographs of us which we found helpful . We couldn't fault this tour. We got what they said we would and then some.

Overall this was a fantastic way to see the sites and sights of the city according to one's own desires. By my own omission, I showed up without having done any meaningful research on what was to be seen, but my guide, Rakesh, was fully knowledgeable and helpful from the outset in setting up an itinerary to see the types of places in which I was interested. I not only got to learn about the history of each place we visited along our route, but I was also particularly impressed with my guide when I pointed out that I was an avid birdwatcher, at which point he indulged me by helping me identify our feathered friends as we passed through all the various parks and grounds. Thankfully I've more than just one day to see the city, but if one day is all you have, for the sake of comfort and flexibility, I say this is the tour for you.

Our guide met us at our hotel and we told him the sights we would like to see. He made some recommendations which we agreed to. His insight into the religions and history of the various sights made the tour very interesting. Overall it was a great trip.

The tour around Delhi was nice covering the most important things to see. The tour guide did a good job and was funny as well.

The guide met me on time in the lobby of my hotel. I had a list of places I'd found on a 50 best places in Delhi blog. We went over them and made an itinerary of the most places I could see. We went to Humayun's tomb, Old Delhi 6, Lotus temple, sikh temple, Raj Ghat and Jama Masjid. It's not made clear, but I finally figured out I was supposed to buy my guide lunch. I wasn't hungry and I kept putting him off and then after searching on the internet I found a place I would go for lunch. I then realized I was to share my lunch. I thought it was funny. I wished I knew before the tour, so I could have done research on a lunch place the night before. The driver of the car was very good. There is a driver and a guide to tip. I also gave the guide a little bit of cash so he could pay for rickshaws, street food, and drinks at his bargaining price. That took a lot of stress off me. I had a good time, learned a lot and got a good feel of New Delhi. I would do this tour again with another list.

The Day Tour of Delhi was everything we expected and then some. Our guide was Jestain and he was very knowledge and enthusiastic. The highlight was our tour of Old Delhi and the spice markets. We saw some incredible sights and could really get a feel of the city and it's vibrance.

Everything worked perfectly. Sammy was a great guide - very good English, and very knowledgeable. This was on our first day in Delhi, and it gave us a good introduction to the city. We stopped off for lunch at a small local restaurant no idea where!, but the food was excellent. Make sure you have cash with you - R 500 per person at each of two sites, lunch a few hundred rupees each, and around R 500 for rickshaw and the electric Tuk-Tukky thing. One of the sites and the small restaurant accepted cards, though. You also pay for the guide's entrance fees, but these fees for Indians are very small only R 30. The itinerary makes it clear you pay for these, so no surprises - but doesn't give any idea of how much you need to take. If you can, leave any backpacks etc. in the car for the Old Delhi bit - otherwise you'll be advised to wear them on your front.

Well run tour. Annie was engaging as a tour/host and we appreciated his knowledge of the various locations. Driver and tour guide bent over backwards to show us the most they could within the timeframes of the tour - Their understanding of traffic patterns and openings of the various tour spots allowed us to maximize our time in Delhi and see as much as we could. We also enjoyed the safe street food advice as we loved eating the local food and not getting even a wee bit ill.

The tour itself is great, our guide was Sammy and we had great time with her, other detail is that it is almost impossible to do this tour by youself in only one day considering the crazy traffic in New Delhi. On the other hand, you have to pay all the entrances and even another guide in Qutub Minar, so I had the impression that the price is really high, comparing all the other prices in India, maybe if you search this tour on the hotel, it will be much cheaper.

This was a great day in Delhi. Our guide, Sammy from Urban Adventures navigated us through the pouring rain with ease. We had a great time shopping in the Delhi bazaar with her expertise. Our first ride on a tuk-tuk was thrilling. The Sikh temple, Humayun's Tomb, Qutb complex, Gandhi's last residence and the Step Well were probably our favorite sites. With only one day to spend in Delhi, this gave us a great varied experience.

I had a number of historical sites I wanted to see in one day, so getting off to an early and prompt start with my guide and driver was greatly appreciated. My guide was very knowledgeable and personable, relaying just enough important facts without being overwhelming with detail. I would have to classify my driver as skilled and safe through at times some difficult traffic. If you want to see a number of historical sites in the immediate Delhi area, I highly recommend this company.

Our guide Abhilekh was so knowledgeable yet flexible to our group's preferences and main interests, and with five people that was no easy task. He showed us Old Delhi and New Delhi and gave us a ton of history and cultural context wherever we went. He helped us negotiate and ride some rickshaws through the streets which made us feel like locals. He also recommended a great restaurant near Gandhi's memorial which gave us a perfect midday break. Overall, we had a fantastic time with Abhilekh, ask the tour company for him and you will not be disappointed.

We had a fantastic tour of all the sites in and around Delhi! Alan, our tour guide, and our incredible driver who was masterful in the craziness of Delhi, did a great job of getting us around to all the main sites. Alan was experienced and spoke excellent English so he made the day very interesting. We drove around a lot at our request to see so many of the sites, and got out and walked around many locations when they interested us. Old Delhi was incredible, and Alan really helped us understand the history and culture of the people who live and work there. He was also very flexible and took us to all the places we wanted to see. He also took us to a very nice place for lunch where we had the chance to talk and learn more! It was the best way to see the city and all the sites, and Alan was great. It was a long day, but worth the time and cost--great way to start our trip!

The tour guide was very good. She was knowledgeable and focused on giving me a great experience. I am at an age when steps can be a challenge. She was very patient and helpful when I needed some extra time to climb stairs. She went out of her way to find destinations which would interest me. For example, I wanted to take photos of people in the streets - she planned our routes so I could take the pictures I wanted. I was very pleased.

This was a pretty great way to see most of the major sights in Delhi in one day. Abhi the guide was quite knowledgable on everything we saw and was a pretty friendly guy besides, which put me at ease. I didn't feel like just another tourist to be led around even though that was kind of the case. I had a list of things I wanted to see and we covered nearly all of them, not doing Red Fort because I mentioned I would be at Agra Fort the next day and it's supposed to be a lot bigger. I didn't really have that many special wishes so I can't speak for how customisable the tour can be, but for me it was close to perfect.

Amazing day touring Old and New Delhi. Our guide Abi was so knowledgeable and full interesting facts. Spoke English very clearly and showed us temples not on the normal tourist trail.

Our guide was amazing. There was a small miscommunication on the dates, but it was quickly fixed. Our driver and tour guide got there quickly and he was amazing. I gave him a list and he took care of everything we wanted. I would recommend this tour for anyone!

What an experience! Our guide and driver took us all over Delhi and showed us so much. We saw temples from all faiths, wandered the streets of Delhi to the spice market where we bought incredible teas and spices, stood at the top of the Ugrasen stepwell, sampled the cycle and motorised tuk tuks which were hugely amusing and finished with Gandhi's home which was very moving. Such a fantastic day, we absolutely loved it and we loved Delhi, the traffic is a revelation!
