Stop At: Walkabout Florence Tours, Via Vinegia, 23R, 50122 Firenze FI, Italy

Check-in and departure point

Duration: 15 minutes

Stop At: Via San Piero di Sotto 1 c/o Villa le Corti, 50026, San Casciano in Val di Pesa Italy

Our first stop of the day is at a beautiful winery belonging to one of the most prestigious Italian aristocratic families. Here we taste three wines paired with cured meats and two olive oils but first, there’s a fascinating guided tour of the historic wine cellars and to the olive mill through underground tunnels that pass under the villa.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: La Cantinetta Di Rignana, Via Rignana, 13, 50022 Greve in Chianti FI, Italy

Now buckle-up and get ready for some off-roading through ancient woodland and rolling hills, outlined with cypress trees and dotted with rustic farms and churches, to make our way to a typical Tuscan winery restaurant with stunning views. Here is where we will really get your taste buds tingling with delicious food and wine. You will not want to leave!

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At: Lamole Di Lamole, Via di Lamole, 50022, Greve in Chianti Italy

We go deeper into the Chianti hills and enjoy more incredible countryside on our way to a Chianti Classico vineyard. As a contrast to the established winery of the morning, this one is smaller and less known though does have two award winning wines which you will taste as you find out how ancient tradition and innovation have been combined to create them.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At: Piazza Giacomo Matteotti, 8, 50022 Greve in Chianti FI, Italy

This was a fantastic tour. Mar tut ina was very informative and very accommodating to me. I wasn't as fast a walker as everyone else but she was kind. It was a wonderful day. We would reccomend this tour to everyone. A day very well spent

We loved our guide, Martina. She was so warm and did a great job explaining all things wine, food, and Italian. We had a wonderful day with her and she did a wonderful job accommodating my mother’s allergy! Fantastic wine, amazing food, we left stuffed and happy. Big thanks to Marina and our driver Romelo! We would definitely recommend seeing the Chianti region with them!

This is an incredible area of Italy. Lots of different stops. Plenty of time to explore each community. Knowledgeable and informative guide. This is must do excursion. Highly recommend.

This was an outstanding tour. Our guide (Martina) was not only a "wine guru" (aka sommelier), but a wealth of historical info as well. She made the trip as great as it was! We visited 3 winery estates and tasted 9 lovely wines, had a great lunch, and had lots of nibbles paired with the wine tastings. The huge safari vehicle was also a lot of fun (even when we were stopped by the local police for what I can only assume were the BIG tires!). Can't thank Martina enough for making this day so special! This is a DON'T MISS tour if you are in the Florence area.

We greatly enjoyed this tour. It made for a long day but we had plenty of food, wine, and sight seeing. We stopped at three very nice wineries and got to sample the wines with food pairings. We especially enjoyed the lunch (the food was very good and very plentiful). We bought and shipped wine home, which was nice. We met plenty of awesome fellow travelers which very much added to our experience. And our guide was very good, very knowledgeable, and helpful. Overall I highly recommend this tour. The only thing I would change is allowing more time in Chianti in Greve at the end. 40 minutes just wasn't enough time. About an hour and a half would have been better. But, we were all ready to get back to Florence by this point as well. Our driver was very safe and we enjoyed the oversized vehicle and back roads tour. Great day!

My husband and I went on this tour with my parents, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it! Gloria was an excellent tour guide, and provided insightful information about wine, Tuscany, Italy in general. I was hesitant when I saw others post that it was a large group (approx 20) and I am used to doing experiences with fewer people about 10, but it was not an issue and did not detract from the experience at all. All of the wineries were amazing and the lunch as well. In addition to wine, we did a couple of olive oil tastings which were delicious as well. This was definitely a day well spent, we learned and saw so much more than we would have been able to on our own!

I have been on numerous tours and wine excursions but this was the best by far. The “beast” was extremely comfortable to ride in and very fun to travel off road but Gloria made the trip. She was very informative about where we were traveling and the wines we tasted. She was easy to understand and had a very fun personality that kept the commentary light and fun. I would highly recommend, this tour is a great value

Martina was an excellent guide, so much knowledge and it was as if it was the first time she had done the tour as she was so engaging and fresh!! Wonderful locations and great fun in the 4x4. Would highly recommend, it’s not a trip you would want to miss. Loved every minute but again that was down to Martina and Romolo the driver.

Highly recommend this tour. Air conditioned comfortable transportation. Visited 3 lovely wineries. Gained knowledge in wine making. Lots of tastings and delicious food, great family style lunch at the 2nd vineyard more than enough food. Able to ship wine back to the states. Good number of people where you could mingle with other couples and people. Easy enough walk in the vineyard where sandals are appropriate. The vehicle does go through the vineyard so if you are prone to motion sickness, would recommend bringing Dramamine Lovely day, as I said, would highly recommend!

Martina was amazing. As a Sommelier her knowledge of the area was incredible. The insight into the Chianti region, the wine, and the 3 wineries visited is second to none. It was a fun and informative trip. The wine was fantastic, and food even better. I can't say enough good things about the trip. It was a long day, but well worth it. The 4 wheel drive vehicle was fun and got us to places that other tours cannot get to. Highly recommend.

This was a wonderful way to see the countryside during our 4 day stay in Florence. The guide, Martina, made an awesome experience. Wonderful personality while being educational. The tour itself was perfectly orchestrated.

it was a great experience. Martina was incredibly knowledgable. The food was incredable and the wines too. A perfect trip!!

We were at the meeting point at 0845, SE area of the city of Florence. Then a 10 minute walk to "The Beast", a large 4x4 bus. Then a 45 minute drive to the first vineyard. In the course of the day we visited three vineyards. The first one we learned the whole process of wine making, followed by a meat and cheese snack, along with generous samples of four different wines. The second one we learned about olive oil, along with two samples and a glass of wine. That was followed by an incredible lunch consisting of five different bruschettas, truffles, ravioli, and a wild boar and pasta plate (with more wine). The third vineyard we walked through the vineyard and was able to pick grapes fresh off the vine. Oh damn were they sweet. This again, followed by more wine. We made it back to Florence a little before 7pm. Our tour guide was Gloria. She has exceptional knowledge of the entire wine making process, and showed us how to determine the quality of wine and the proper way to sample it. She was truly exceptional throughout the entire tour. Our driver, John, was probably envied by everyone onboard. He spent his day driving this big-ass 4x4 bus through the country. I would definitely recommend this tour over a stroll through Florence.

Gloria was amazing as our tour guide! She was funny and informative and made sure we were having a great experience. Highly recommend to anyone looking to get out and see the countryside and getting a taste of all it has to offer. The transportation was fun as well.

This was a lot of fun. I don't drink alcohol but I really enjoyed the off road experience in the vineyards and the lunch was authentic Italian and delicious. Getting in and out of the 4x4 was hard. I am short and I have just had my knee replaced but everyone helped me. Our guide Gloria was terrific and our driver was the best. Well worth the money.

This tour was fantastic Martina our guide was wonderful and very knowledgeable she made sure everyone could hear and understand all instructions. The wineries we visited were amazing and so was the food and wine. Highly recommend. BUT it’s not a small group in a small vehicle is we believed it to be, its a bus of around 26.

We had a wonderful day in the Tuscany hillsides. Stefano our guide and John our driver made the trip humorous and safe.

The Taste of Chianti day trip through Walkabout was amazing and a highlight of our stay in Florence. Gloria was an incredible tour guide and not only knowledgeable about the area but also wine and olive oil. She also had a great sense of humor. On paper it was a long day trip, but it is broken up by several stops and Gloria provided narration for much of it but also allowed for person time to rest. Romolo drove the Beast (I think of it as the big green machine), it is a huge 4 wheel drive truck with a bus cab on the back, and very comfortable inside. Romolo maneuvered it on narrow back roads that didn’t seem possible to fit our vehicle. The food was amazing and the wine was great! I would definitely take another tour by Walkabout and highly recommend them to others.

We had a blast on this wine tour. Tuscany is absolutely beautiful and our tour guide, Stefano is amazing -very informative and helpful!
• Submitted 19 Aug 2019
I really hope that Stefano is earning the money he deserves. His expertise is invaluable. Without a doubt Stefano’s insight made this wine tasting the best experience in Firenze. As far as driving is concerned, the driver who I believe to be named John, was great. I really do hope that Stefano receives the accolades he deserves as he truly is a sommelier.

This tour was a highlight of our trip to Italy! Martina was an excellent guide. She was knowledgeable, energetic and kept us engaged from start to finish. My partner and I loved the lunch and agreed it was among the best meals we had all trip. We also enjoyed the generous portions of wine at each stop. Couldn’t ask for anything more!
