Important InfoInfo
Skip the Line: Doge's Palace Tour (2 hours):

Meet your guide at the entrance to the Royal Gardens in Venice and stroll to Doge's Palace, the magnificent Venetian-Gothic building from where the leaders of the former Venetian Republic ruled until the late-18th century. Head inside and explore the grandiose public chambers that the doges lavished with fine art and ornamentation. Masterpieces by Renaissance champions Tintoretto and Veronese adorn the walls and ceilings, framing the palace’s grand staircases and arcade statues.

Learn about the extravagant doges as you walk around, and hear of the power and treachery that characterized their reign. Ruling the republic with iron fists, the doges established a network of prisons at the palace so they could keep a close eye on their foes. Wander across the Bridge of Sighs, built to connect the palace to the fearsome prisons, and pose for photos against the backdrop of the palace. Your walking tour then finishes outside the palace, leaving you to enjoy a 3-hour break before your next tour starts.

Skip the Line: Small-Group Venice Walking Tour with St Mark’s Basilica (2 hours):

Leave St Mark’s Square and set off on your walking tour to discover some of Venice’s highlights — its top attractions and lesser-known sights. Soak up the hustle and bustle of St Mark’s Square, and head inside St Mark’s Basilica to admire its interiors. Marvel at the marble floors and ogle the gilded mosaics that blanket the walls and ceilings. The Pala D’Oro canopy over the high altar dazzles with gold and your guide will explain the Byzantine influences that helped Venice hone its distinctive architectural style.

After 40 minutes approx inside the St Mark's Basilica, head out and set off to discover the canal walkways and pretty bridges that many visitors don’t get to see. Stop for photos by San Zaccaria Church and admire its incredible façade with Gothic and Renaissance carvings. As you walk, listen to your guide’s tales of the city during the days of the Venetian Republic and the many colorful characters that have called Venice home throughout the ages.

After two hours exploring the city, work your way back to the start point at St Mark’s Square and finish your tour by the Bridge of Sighs.

Guide for Doge's Place was so pleasant and informative. We saw and learned so much. St. Mark's guide provided historical insights on building and art.

This was an interesting tour, our guide Andrea was very informative and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the experience much more with the background info than if we went alone. Highly recommended!

Both of our tours were with knowledgeable guides who were informative and helpful. They gave us a flavor of the history and the happenings then. Excellent tours.

We had 2 different guides for this excursion. One for Doge Palace and another for St. Mark's. They were both very knowledgeable and informative. I highly recommend this tour. We did small group and it is well worth it.

Excellent! We had 2 different guides (Barbera for Doges palace and Andrea fir Basilica). Both were highly engaging and entertaining. Their knowledge and passion for their locale showed throughout. Highly recommended, bypassing queues and nice small groups. Thank you both!

Our tour guide (iridis - spelling?) was outstanding. The history and knowledge shared was excellent. She was engaged and passionate on what she was presenting. St. Marks is definitely a must see. The architecture and different ages from Roman to gothic to renaissance to Byzantine was just stunning.

Venice is beautiful that is a given, but a tour depends on guides and ours were excellent - recommended

We loved this tour, Federica was an amazing person and we were sad to say goodbye at the end of the day!

Fiona, our guide, was exceptional. She was so knowledgable, lively and fun. I learned a lot of rich history through her. We got to see so many awesome places on this tour. This is a must-do for everyone passing through lovely Venice!

Very knowledgeable tour guides. Worth the extra to skip the line!

We couldn't be happier with either of these 2 guides. Skip the Line is the best as there were always lines that we bypassed. Our tour guides were excellent and friendly. The use of listening devices with head phones was perfect. We were able to see and hear it all. No questions went unanswered and all answers were clearly expressed. English was excellent for both guides.

Brilliant guide Barbara gave lots of history with enthusiasm and humour. Learnt far more by taking the tour so highly recommended

It was an excellent tour. Tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, and able to answer many extra questions. The only downside was that it would have been better if the group was smaller.

Excellent tours. Guides were prompt and very good. Kept the tour very interesting and would highly recommend.

This trip was nicely organized - with a couple of hours with a professional guide at the Doge's Palace followed by a few hours off to find lunch and get ready for the small-group tour of the church and a little walking tour of the neighbourhood. Frankly that last bit was one of the best we had on our entire Italy trip. The guide was amazingly informative and entertaining at the same time. I felt like Gina really gave us an honest sense of what it's like to be a Venetian Citizen today. Would highly recommend this combo-package - especially for anyone with limited time in Venice.

The Doge Palace was fascinating. Sabrina knows her history and gave us a well rounded insight. The St. Marks Basilica tour was equally as interesting. Frederica was very knowledgeable. Her insights on modern Venice was as interesting as the tour. I highly recommend this combo.

The only way to tour. Did not know how great Skip the line was, until we did it. Not only skipping the line but having the remote headphones was like having a small group individual tour. At first, seeing the long queues, I wondered. But then the tours worked. It was almost like a private small party tour. Informative guides. Educational. Areas in the palace explained that would otherwise have been a mystery. Never felt rushed. Superb!

A very interesting tour of the Doge's Palace with an excellent guide who took a lot of trouble to make it interesting. In the afternoon Sabrina guided us around the dry part of Venice as St Mark's Square was under water. It was the most expensive tour we did and was perhaps slightly overpriced but still enjoyed by both of us. Anthony Eden

Outstanding, informative and top notch tour guides, Stefano and Veronica! Absolutely worth it!

Loved this tour and most of all, loved skipping the long lines, especially in the heat of Venice in July!! The palace and basilica were stunning. Our guides were most informative and we learned a great deal about the history of both places and Venice itself. I would highly recommend this tour---the guides were also very pleasant and professional and know their stuff.
