The tour guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. The group was rather large, so it wasn't always possible to hear the guide. Overall, I would recommend this to a friend.

It rained during our tour and I was impressed with Momo, our guide who carried on with the tour in the rain despite the tough conditions. Very professional and I learnt more about geisha on the tour. Highly recommended!

There were a lot of people but we split into groups and our tour leader was very knowledgeable and easy to get a long with. In spite of our group size we were able to hear fine. We learnt things about the Gion we would not have known without googling.

Nice walk in the Gion area. Nice guide with a lot of explanations. 1 and half hour walking. Group was quite big. Good to lkearn the Geisha history and good to see some nice locations in the district. Sure worth the effort and not expensive!

A highly informative tour about the world of Giesha and Gion. The guide took us not only through the larger points of history but also through some trivia and traditions. Of course, the location itself should be on everyone's bucket list.

We have a wonderful tour guide called Mei who showed us around the Gion district and explained the history of the area. She was warm and funny and had lots of stories. I would highly recommend doing this on your first night to get your bearings and to enjoy the rest of your stay in Kyoto.

This was a beautiful tour. Gion is very beautiful. The tour guide, Ayoko was very nice and explained everything well with very good English. The history of the district and geisha was also very interesting. We were lucky enough to see a Maiko on our tour. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to learn More about geishas and the history of Japan and Gion.

Yuri did a wonderful job guiding our family group of 8. Excellent English and explanations. We saw about 7 maiko and 1 geiko which was awesome! Yuri also took the time to find us a fabulous restaurant afterwards to cater to our dirty requirements no wheat. Thanks and highly recommended!!!

Our tour guide, Ted-san, was very informative. Without this private walking tour, we would have no idea where the teahouses were located, or what the signage meant. It was very educational and a beautiful chilly evening walk. Taking the tour at night added to the Geisha experience.

Had a very informative time. our guide Ally was very knowledgable and patient. She answered most of our queries. We were lucky enough to spot a Maiko as she was going out. Our group standing right infront of a boarding house. For the price that I paid , it was all worth it! Highly recommended.

This was a highlight of our trip and certainly the best value. Our guide Mie Tamada was outstanding - informative, humorous and utterly charming. After the tour, On our request she recommended an Izakaya for our dinner and then escorted us there. A fabulous evening.

not too good, way overbooked

I would go so far as to say this should be a compulsory tour - it's very inexpensive, and it will help you a lot in understanding the area of Gion, the cultural relevance of geiko/maiko and why you shouldn't call them geisha!, and indeed you'll learn a lot about Kyoto. The tour group was fairly large and it was a bit cumbersome to be walkling around with so many people, and I would probably take off half a star but there's no option for half stars on this, and it certainly didn't get in the way of being able to hear and see everything, so I'm rounding up there. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful, and she managed the walking group extremely well. There was young and old people in our group and I think the pacing was stellar with this in mind. Definitely worth doing - it's extremely cheap for what it is! I recommend doing this the first or second day you're in Kyoto, as you'll be given a lot of ideas for your next few days in this tour!
