Take in the best of Mexico's beautiful Yucatan Peninsula on this 8 day tour. Marvel at the spectacular Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza and Tulum, wander around the enchanting colonial towns of Merida and Valladolid and relax on the white sand beaches of the Maya Riviera.
Cancun - Chichen Itza - Izamal - Merida. Departing Cancun this morning we head inland. For our first stop we enjoy a guided tour of the famous Chichen Itza archaeological site, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Chichen Itza was constructed between the 7th and the 10th Century AD and these incredible ruins are the best examples of Mayan architecture ever excavated. The highlight of our guided tour is the iconic El Castillo pyramid (aka the Pyramid of Kukulcan).
After visiting this remarkable UNESCO World Heritage site we travel on to explore Izamal, a pretty and quiet colonial town which is referred to as the 'yellow City' due to its golden-yellow buildings. Then we continue on to Merida, which is the largest city of Yucatan steeped in colonial history, with magnificent buildings and the region's best museums.
Overnight: Merida | Breakfast
Merida is not only the largest city in Yucatan, but also the cultural capital of the region and it has been designated as one of Mexico's "Pueblos Mágicos" (magical places, with rich cultural, historical or natural treasures). Today we visit the Hacienda Yaxcopoil, a rural estate constructed in the 17th century for stock farming and later used as agave plantation. We then continue our day with a refreshing dip in the Cenote X’Batun, an open limestone sinkhole with turquoise waters and marine life perfect for swimming or snorkelling. This afternoon we return to Merida where the rest of the day is free to spend at leisure.

Merida - Valladolid. Today we drive to Valladolid, a peaceful colonial city, with pastel coloured buildings, which has also been classified as a "Pueblo Magico“. We take in the highlights of this charming city on a guided tour and spend a relaxing evening here.

Tulum - Playa del Carmen. On day 6 we travel to Playa del Carmen, our final port of call. The rest of the day is free for you to explore this popular beach resort. Spend the day relaxing on the soft white sand beach and enjoy a swim in the crystal clear sea. Or enjoy refreshing cocktails and delicious Mexican food at the Quinta Avenida, in the heart of Playa del Carmen.
