Our driver and guide made this trip with lots of local knowledge and some great banter

A first-class tour. I did the 1-hour city tour and it was interesting to hear all the facts about the earthquakes that decimated the city in 45 seconds. I then went on the 2-hour tour of the suburbs. This too was interesting - earthquake related but also a great commentary on the existence of NZ. Driver was knowledgeable and personable.

This tour was great... informative and affordable for 3 hours. The best part of the tour was Karl, our driver and guide who was so knowledgeable about the city and how the earthquakes affected it, and the rebuild project. We did an hours tour of the city, took a walk through the beautiful Mona Valentine's Gardens, went up to Cashmere Hills for a birds eye view of the city and ended the tour with a visit to Sumner Beach. I felt I had a good knowledge of the city and a bit about its history and a greater understanding of how the earthquakes affected the city.

Excellent tour around Christchurch. We only had 2 full days to visit the area and this for the bill perfectly. The guide knew his stuff thoroughly. Would recommend this to one anyone who wants to learn about how Christchurch is recovering from the earthquake.

This was a really informative trip and gave us the opportunity to see more of Christchurch than we would have done. The 2 guides were very good and were happy to answer questions.

Great tour guide. We were amazed at how much destruction there was in Christchurch after the earthquakes. They are rebuilding. We stopped for ice cream which was great, too. Highly recommend taking the full tour not just the downtown one

Amazing - I have lived in Christchurch most of my life yet I really enjoyed the city part of the tour including the walk through Mona Vale. I had Australian family with me who had never been to NZ before and we were really surprised when the bus went up Evans Pass Rd to the top, then came down through Mt Pleasant and St Andrew's Hill. The commentary was excellent but a little hard to hear above the noise of the engine.

A brilliant tour not only of Christchurch itself but also the surrounding areas in a lovely old London Routemaster RM bus. We went merrily up hills and down dales in the Bus, luckily they have put in a reinforced engine to the one we were on, as we certainly chugged up and down with the bus working very hard. Lovely commentaries both inside Christchurch on an open-topped bus and then afterwards changing buses to a closed-topped RM for the views around the bar and environs. Be warned - Christchurch is still looking rather poorly after all the earthquake activity over the past few years. They are working hard to restore it, but there is plenty of work still to do and plenty to see and hear about on this brilliant tour.

If you are in Christchurch you have to do this tour. We ha not really appreciated how much of the city was destroyed 5 years ago. They are doing a great job rebuilding. If you go before next January make sure you visit the restart mall, you will see just how resilient people can be.

just great

Christchurch has been through so much with the devastating earthquakes the last few years, this was a really good way to and appreciate the rebirth of this beautiful city.

A good way to get your bearings. Great guide.

The open top was good. Good explanations about the town on how they have recovered from the earthquakes from 4 years ago. On the cover bed bus, I was the only passenger on it so was quite personal when I was speaking to Carl and getting explanations

Fantastic tour about the history of the city

Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the driver but was excellent. We had a very insightful commentary on where Christchurch is at at the moment and it brought out al sorts of emotions and ideas. The driver did an excellent job showing us the inter city and what is happening etc. As my father in law and I were the only ones on the bus for the second part, we were taken by request, to Sumner, Redcliffs, stopped for a cuppa and the driver then took us up some hills. We had frequent stops to view the city and surrounds and to see, first hand the devastatin that Canterbury has suffered. We had lots explained. A wonderful Christchurch experience. My thoughts are that the council/government should get on with the housing and the sports fields and cathedral, can wait!!!!!!!!

gorgeous day for riding on the open upper deck. very interesting seeing what still has to be done nearly 4 years after the first quake to make the city whole again!
• Submitted 24 Feb 2014
Great Experience. An open air trip through the city was great. It was great to see how they are rebuilding. Well Done!! Following that a closed tour to the outskirts and seaside towns then up the mountain for spectacular views. Returning to the city on time. Our guide was informative as well as entertaining.

We did both the one-hour city highlights and the two-hour which turned into nearly three-hour tour of surrounding areas. Very knowledgeable and entertaining guide Good itinerary and coverage Good value for money - Pre-paid/pre-booked customers should be let on the bus first - and not have to compete for seating with those that arrive on the day, but may have been picked up earlier. On the city tour, the bus was actually over-booked due to earlier pick-ups. We had pre-booked, but were seated in two very bad seats with poor vision and poor comfort

This tour certainly provides lots of information on the earthquake and history of New Zealand's origins so well worth the money. Unfortunately we had mechanical problems that caused quite a delay but the Bus Driver did his best to keep us entertained. The Double Decker Bus is a great way to see the after effects of the earthquake from 2011. Christchurch is a big area to get around so taking this tour gives you a good chance to see as much as possible in a short time.

Wish I could have taken it. We were on a cruise ship that docked in Akaroa, we did not know that Christchurch was 1 1/2 hours away. Busses run only in the morning from Akaroa so we missed out. Make sure to plan on that bus trip into Christchurch to catch the sightseeing tour. The company was great to work with after getting home.
