“
The Barranco neighbourhood was super cool to explore. We lucked out as we were visiting Lima close to Christmas so we were the only ones in our tour and basically got a private tour. Esmile was a great tour guide and very knowledgeable about Peru, the unique foods to the country, and its culture and history. We learned so much about the history and culture through the eclectic and flavourful food we tried at each stop. Our favourite spot was by far Isolina. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone!”

“
Excellent experience with our guide who led a tour more than in gastronomy but in culture. Our guide was great - knowledgeable, passionate, courteous, flexible. Both food and stories was great -- we learned a lot and enjoyed so much!”

“
Not only did we get to experience great Lima origin food but also great street art and information about Barranco's area, in total. Like other reviews, you receive enough food that you won't need dinner afterwards. Ismael is extremely knowledgeable of the culinary scene and history of Barranco and Lima, in general.”

“
This tour was wonderful! We thoroughly enjoyed it. Carla and Gonzalo were awesome. They know how to capture the essence of the culture in this beautiful neighborhood. Food was fantastic and from beginning to end we had plenty of food with the history behind it (like origins, etc), ingredients, and anything you want to know. It was great to see how they adjusted the menu for kids and vegetarians so they could also enjoy it. We also loved the route and sequence of food places including the food preparation demos. We definitely recommend it and wouldn’t mind trying it again if we are back to Lima. Gracias Carla! Éxito y mejores deseos. Hi to Lucho too!”

“
Loved the tour, learned a lot about Barranco and the food was out of this world! Well organized, food was spread out with a good amount of walking (wouldn't want to do it with luggage) in between to give your body time to gear up for the next feast. Highly recommend.”

“
Fantastic. Tons of food and learnings about Barranco and Lima. Ismael is a accomplished toru guide and speaks English perfectly. Many highlights of the tour, but it ends at Ismolina, one of the top 50 restaurants in Latan Amarican for an expansive meal of comfort food. The beef short ribs and the potato relleno were unreal. Again, tons of excellent food. A must do tour!”

“
One of the best food tours we have taken. Well worth the cost. We actually had more food then would could eat. All but one item, a dessert, was fantastic. That could have been personal taste so try it. One chef came out and showed us how his ceviche was made. The guide spoke perfect English and geared the pace of the tour to the slowest person. Never felt rushed.”

“
What a wonderful experience. The guide Ismael was extremely kind and informative. An excellent way to tour the unique Barranco neighborhood. Started off with a pork sandwich with sweet potato chicharron. Had a ceviche making demonstration, causa mashed potatoes with fish in center kind of like a mini-cake, papa rellena potato stuffed with ground beef, and cherimoya gelato. Definitely don't eat breakfast before this one. Hands down worth the price of admission.”

“
My husband and I booked this food tour in the Barranco neighbourhood as we were staying there and thought it would be a good way to get acquainted with the area. We received an email from our tour guide Carla ahead of time to confirm meeting point and time. We met Carla at 130PM and to our surprise we were the only two on the tour. After a few questions on foods we liked and those we didn't we were off on our 4 hr walking tour. The Barranco area is a very artsy place. Lots of beautiful street paintings on the walls of buildings and beneath bridges. We never felt afraid of walking in the area , even at night.
Not only was the tour a food tour but also a little history and culture of the area. But the highlight was definitely the food. Do not eat a big breakfast before you go, as we had so much food. It was the local foods. We went to a small market area where we sampled different fruits and veggies, some I had never heard of before. It was fun to try them just as they were or some were made into delicious smoothies. Then another stop we were given a roast pork and sweet potato sandwich. Would have never thought of that combo but it was a very popular local sandwich, and very good. One of our favorites was a Ceviche Bar. They made the ceviche at the table and it was outstanding. Some of the best we have ever had. We were given at least 3 more dishes there,Sorry its been awhile and I cant remember what some of them were but they all were good. They also gave us a drink made of purple corn. I wasn't to sure about it but tried it and I liked it a lot. By now we were getting full, but we weren't done yet. Next we stopped at a restaurant that a lot of the locals go to and we had a pork dish with veggies, so good. In fact we went back to this restaurant later that evening for dinner. Oh, and we had the best Pisco Sours of our whole trip there. We did some more walking because we couldn't eat anything more and Carla still wanted to get us dessert. So we walked to the Bridge of Sighs and down to the beach. So down to the beach and back and then we did dessert.
One of the best things about this tour and there were a lot of great things, was Carla the tour guide. She was very passionate about what she did and what she was showing us. She was so kind and couldn't do enough for us. She made this a great day we will always remember.
We both recommend this tour highly. It was great. Just don't eat before you go.
Thanks Carla”
