Royal Mile Guided Walking Tour in Edinburgh
from USD $45.66
Availablity
This guided walk with our unique guides, Stuart Usher or his son, Richard Usher, will entertain and enthral you. Also we are delighted to introduce a new guide who will take occasional group tours; Dr Alison Duncan, who is a professional historian and Edinburgh expert. We limit the tour to 10 guests so everyone is involved, unlike tours of 30, 40 or more. Stuart's family has historic connections with Edinburgh (Stuart's great-great Uncle, Andrew Usher, donated the magnificent Usher Hall to the city as well as being known as the father of the scotch whisky blending industry).  Their deep knowledge of the cultural, historical and architectural aspects of the city means they have a unique perspective on our wonderful capital.

Your guides will show you the cultural treasures of Edinburgh, the secrets of its past and its famous characters, and are rightly renowned for their entertaining and witty commentary.

A bit of a wander, on the surface, but on the whole tour was a good mix of historical detail, literary reference, and geography of the city. Guide is a bit of a character but engaging and well versed in the little details that make the city come more alive.

Richard was an excellent professional guide. Tour was great and covered a lot of history and made Edinburgh more interesting. Answered all questions and had a lot of background. Great tour worth every penny.

This was a great walking tour of Edinburgh and got us off the Royal Mile and into the other important areas of town. Richard was our guide and told fascinating stories that you won't read in history books. I highly recommend this tour and it is limited to 10 people, so you will be able to keep up and hear everything!

Knowledgeable, friendly, through understanding of the history of Edinburgh. Able to answer our questions and provide insights into Scottish history. Really enjoyed Rob's approach to all ages in the group. Highly recommended for a broad based understanding of this city.

Our guide took us around the town and gave some interesting and some fun information. A great overview of the key historic points.

I really enjoyed this tour. Our guide did a great job of providing details and background (sometimes...hundreds of years of history). The Royal Mile is riddled with history that makes it come alive!!

Absolutely fantastic! Our three hour tour went by incredibly fast. We wish it was longer! The wit and knowledge of our tour guide, Richard, was a perfect combination for this amazing tour. You will not be disappointed after taking this tour. Thank you very much.

This was a really good experience to know the Edinburgh. Richard is a very professional and passionate guide, who not only provide you with both historical and modern information about the city, but also is interested in history of your own city / country! It's really more convenient to have a walking tour in small groups like we had - you are always in contact with the guide, can hear and catch the very single word! Let me thank Richard for the great tour again!

For our tour we had Richard the son and he was flexible, informative, and funny. We had such a lovely morning with the tour. This tour takes max 10 people which provides a perfect experience. We saw similar tours that had 40 people in the group.

Richard Usher gave a wonderful informative 3 hour tour with frequent stops for pictures. His knowledge of both old and new town, coupled with amusing historical stories made the tour that much more interesting. He interacted very well with our group and his light Scottish accent made for easy listening. Well worth the money! Marty G

I was taken on a splendid walk around Edinburgh Old Town by our guide Stuart. Having introduced himself and all of us to each other. We then set off on our walk, the pace was spot on allowing plently of time for photos and to be informed on the sights and of cousre to be entertained with historical tales. I was impressed with his vast knowledge of Edinburgh and its sights and the easy manner in which he shared it with us. Stuart also found time to engage with each of us individually making it just a bit more special. It was obivioius that Stuart loves the city and enjoys sharing it with you.

By far the best thing we did in Edinburgh, also one of the best tours we have ever been on . A must do to give you a layout of the city

Guide was informative and knowledgeable and gave an entertaining presentation. Definitely worth doing.

Took the tour this week by myself in a small group seven with Richard Usher who knows all things Edinburgh to a tremendous degree. He was educational, engaging and entertaining every step of the tour. He made the effort to make sure all the members of the group were introduced to each other and made sure to engage each of us throughout the tour. This is not a detailed tour into sites like the castle but, rather, a broad introduction to the city with lots of references to smaller parts of the city with historical references. There was a delightful stop midway for a drink and scone, if we wished at our expense, which was timely. This is a nonstop tour which climbs up and down steps and stairs. Probably not a good option for someone with physical challenges. This was a great introduction to this delightful city.

This was an amazing tour with a very knowledgeable guide. I had a lovely time. The company is run by a father and son team, and I had the son, we met his dad at one of the stops and he was just as nice with a very quick wit.

This was a great way to start my trip to Edinburgh. It turned out that only one other person was on the tour with me. Not typical I was told but even in a small group of less than 10 this still would have been great. Supurb knowledge of the city. Every question I asked was answered to high standard of knowledge. I highly recommend this walking guided tour to anyone visiting the city. Do it first so you know where to go back and revisit at more length or if you are not in town long and want a great history book this father and son tour experience.
