Ushuaia Penguin Experience
New
Set your sights on the world’s southernmost city as this five–day adventure begins and ends in Ushuaia. You’ll explore Tierra del Fuego National Park – think lenga forests, beaver dams and quiet bays – and cruise the Beagle Channel for lighthouse views and seal and seabird colonies, with the chance to spot penguins in season. Expect to see snow–dusted Andean peaks, walk to Martial Glacier lookouts and ride the End of the World Train. There’s time for the Maritime Museum or a cosy café, plus Patagonian flavours – king crab and hearty stews. A compact break with big scenery and easy–going pace.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Ushuaia
When you land at Ushuaia International Airport, we’ll be waiting to transfer you to your hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is free – relax after the flight or take a gentle first wander around the world’s southernmost city, set between the Andes and the Beagle Channel. There are no scheduled activities today, so you can settle in at your own pace. Overnight in Ushuaia.
Day 2 - Ushuaia
After breakfast, we head out on a half day excursion into Tierra del Fuego National Park – Argentina’s southernmost protected area and the only one where mountains meet the sea. We follow National Route 3 about 11 kilometres southwest of Ushuaia, pausing at Río Pipo, Monte Susana, Lago Acigami and the Alakush Visitor Centre, then continue to Laguna Verde and Bahía Lapataia – the symbolic end of the Pan American Highway. Weather permitting, we take short walks and allow time for photographs, taking in views of forest, rivers, valleys and lakes that meet the Beagle Channel shoreline. The subantarctic woodland offers year round wildlife viewing – we keep watch for Fuegian red fox and birdlife such as cachaña, giant woodpecker, rayadito, Patagonian thrush and cauquén caranca, emblematic of the park. We return to Ushuaia after the tour. Overnight in Ushuaia.
Day 3 - Ushuaia
After breakfast at the hotel, the day is yours – there are no scheduled activities. You can explore Ushuaia at your own pace, wander the city and take in its striking setting between the Andes and the Beagle Channel, or simply relax at your hotel. Optional excursions are available if you’d like to delve further into the region’s natural beauty and cultural character. Overnight in Ushuaia.
Day 4 - Ushuaia
We depart from Ushuaia’s Tourist Pier to cruise the Beagle Channel, taking in the city waterfront, the Maritime Museum – the former prison – the End of the World Museum and the Olivia and Cinco Hermanos mountains. We continue southwest to Los Lobos Island to watch sea lions on the rocks – ideal for photos – then on to Los Pájaros Island to observe colonies of Magellanic and Imperial cormorants alongside other local seabirds. We sail to the Les Éclaireurs Lighthouse – a Fuegian icon – where we can see remains of the 1930 Monte Cervantes shipwreck. Crossing to the southern coast of Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego, we pass Estancia Remolino, where the Monte Sarmiento ran aground, and enjoy views of Gable Island and the Puerto Williams Naval Base on Navarino Island in Chile. On arrival at Martillo Island, we approach the shore to observe the Magellanic penguin colony – with occasional sightings of Gentoo penguins – as they move along the beach and swim around the catamaran. We then return to the Tourist Pier along the quiet shores of Estancias Túnel and Fique. Overnight in Ushuaia.
Day 5 - Ushuaia
After breakfast, we’ll arrange your check-out and provide a private transfer from your hotel to Malvinas Argentinas International Airport at the scheduled time for your departure flight – please be ready in the lobby at the agreed pick-up time. We hope you leave Ushuaia with lasting memories of its striking landscapes and natural wonders.
