When to visit Austria
Our recommendation
We recommend visiting Austria in the springtime (from March to May). During this time the weather is pleasant, with perfect conditions for nature walks and city excursions. There also tends to be fewer crowds than summertime and blossoming scenery that you don’t get in autumn or winter. Though there is no real ‘bad’ time to visit Austria, we think spring is the best time to take a tour.

If you’re visiting during the winter it’s advised to bring warm clothes, layers and sturdy footwear.

Austria’s summers have warm days and cool nights with plenty of sunshine perfect for touring the country. Temperatures tend to sit around 25 to 30 degrees Celsius during the summer making for pleasant days. The warm weather is great for hiking or taking boat rides along Austria’s beautiful lakes.
