Itinerary
Day 1 - Chengdu

On arrival in Chengdu, you are met by a local guide and driver before transferring to your hotel - a journey of around 40 minutes. The remainder of the day is at leisure, giving you time to rest after your journey or begin exploring the city at your own pace.
Day 2 - Pandas & Dujiangyan

Chengdu - Dujiangyan. After breakfast at the hotel, you travel to the Dujiangyan Giant Panda Base, one of three centres operated by the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda. Located around 60 km from Chengdu, this is the closest panda base to the city. The centre plays a key role in rescuing and breeding this endangered species, with dedicated patrol and rescue teams also monitoring wild panda populations in the surrounding areas.
After your visit, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before taking in the remarkable Dujiangyan Irrigation System. Built over 2,200 years ago, it is considered the oldest functioning water-control project in the world and is unique as an ancient dam-less irrigation system. Often described as the father of world hydrology engineering, it continues to regulate water flow across the Chengdu Plain, helping to prevent both floods and droughts. Together with the nearby Qingcheng Mountains, the site was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000.
In the evening, you can enjoy a relaxed stroll through a local night market, soaking up the atmosphere and flavours of the region.
Please note: The Dujiangyan Panda Base will be closed for renovation and upgrades from 23 April 2026 until further notice. Your itinerary may instead include a visit to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. All other arrangements remain the same.
Day 3 - Wolong National Nature Reserve & Return to Chengdu

Dujiangyan - Wolong National Nature Reserve - Chengdu. Leaving Dujiangyan, you travel to the Wolong National Nature Reserve. Here, visit the Shenshuping Panda Base, one of the most well-known and important centres for the protection of forest ecosystems and rare wildlife, including the giant panda and the red panda. As one of the earliest reserves established for panda conservation, Wolong has long attracted zoologists from China and around the world, contributing significantly to research and protection efforts.
Set within a diverse subtropical landscape, the reserve also offers an attractive setting for sightseeing, with forested mountains and rich biodiversity forming a scenic backdrop. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before returning to Chengdu in the afternoon, a drive of approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
Day 4 - Chengdu

Your tour comes to an end after breakfast and hotel check-out. An included transfer takes you to the airport or railway station, depending on your preference.
