Itinerary
Day 1 - Copenhagen
Welcome to your tour. We’ll transfer you to the hotel, then you’ll have free time. You’ll receive information in the afternoon – either directly or via the information board at reception.
Day 2 - Copenhagen
In the morning we’ll take a panoramic tour with a local guide of Denmark’s capital – renowned for quality of life, sustainability and rich culture. By coach and on foot we’ll see the Little Mermaid, the colourful houses of Nyhavn harbour, the exterior of Amalienborg Palace, Town Hall Square and the Tivoli area. You’ll have the afternoon free.
Day 3 - Copenhagen - Jönköping - Vadstena - Stockholm
We’ll depart for Elsinore, the city of Hamlet where Kronborg Castle stands, then take a short ferry to Sweden – about 20 minutes. We’ll travel through landscapes of large lakes and lush forests to Jönköping, a modern small city beside a great lake, where you’ll have time to explore and enjoy lunch. We’ll continue to Vadstena, a picturesque lakeside town known for its old houses and a grand 14th century castle later converted into a monastery, before reaching Stockholm in the evening – a beautiful capital set across an archipelago linked by bridges and ferries, blending history, striking architecture and modern flair.
Day 4 - Stockholm - Mora
After breakfast, with a local guide we’ll tour this capital of 14 islands where water is everywhere. We’ll visit Gamla Stan – the old town – with sights such as the Nobel Museum by Stortorget, the Cathedral and the Royal Palace, and enjoy the view from Fjällgatan. Free time follows. Around 16:00 we’ll leave for northwest Sweden through gentle hills, farmland, small towns and lakes, arriving in Mora in the evening – the small city between two lakes where Gustav I won support in 1521 to fight the Danes.
Day 5 - Mora - Funäsdalen - Roros - Trondheim
We’ll depart early for Norway through vast forests, lakes and mountains. Our first stop is Funäsdalen, a popular ski resort, then we continue to Røros for lunch and time to explore this historic mining town – a World Heritage Site with a charming centre, old miners’ houses and a museum of the former foundry. We then reach Trondheim on the central coast, Norway’s third largest city, with roots in the Viking era and a fine cathedral from the 11th century and the iconic old bridge over the canal. In the evening you can sample the city’s lively nightlife and restaurants.
Day 6 - Trondheim - Kristiansund - Atlantic Road - Molde
After some time in the heart of Trondheim, we’ll follow the coast and fjords of the Norwegian Sea, crossing one fjord by ferry before arriving in Kristiansund – spread over several islands linked by bridges and causeways, with a pleasant city centre of cobbled streets, shops, restaurants and cafés. We’ll continue through scenic landscapes to visit Kvernes Stave Church (admission included), a 14th century treasure with a remarkable ship model around 300 years old and altarpieces dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Our route then takes us along the famous Atlantic Road – an unforgettable drive across eight bridges linking islets – with a stop at a viewpoint before reaching Molde by evening, a vibrant town on its fjord and a regular port of call for cruise ships.
Day 7 - Molde - Geiranger - Briksdalsbreen - Loen
We’ll enjoy a day of breathtaking scenery with World Heritage fjords, glaciers and pretty towns. A ferry crossing of the Romsdal Fjord – about 50 minutes – leads to high snowy mountains, then we descend to Storfjorden. Another ferry – about 30 minutes – brings us to the Eagle Viewpoint over Geirangerfjord, one of Norway’s most spectacular vistas. We then arrive in Geiranger, whose fjord is a World Heritage Site. You’ll have free time – perhaps take a boat trip on the fjord, stroll beside the waterfalls or relax in the village. After lunch we continue through dramatic mountains and fjords to Briksdalsbreen, an awe inspiring glacier in a magnificent setting. There will be time to walk from the base to the glacier, on foot or by electric vehicle (optional). Dinner is included, and we spend the night in Loen, a lovely fjordside town where you can ride one of the steepest cable cars in the world from sea level to over 1,000 metres.
Day 8 - Loen - Bergen
We’ll set off early for Bergen – just under 300 kilometres of glorious scenery along fjords and over mountains, with a scenic ferry en route. We’ll arrive around lunchtime and take the Fløyen cable car for panoramic views over the city. Afterwards you’ll have free time to explore Norway’s second city – wander Bryggen, the historic dock with brightly coloured wooden buildings and a World Heritage Site, or visit the Aquarium or the lively fish market.
Day 9 - Bergen - Eidfjord - Voringfossen - Geilo - Oslo
We’ll leave Bergen early and head into the heart of Norway, crossing the impressive suspension bridge over the Hardangerfjord. We’ll pause in Eidfjord, then visit Vøringfossen, often considered Norway’s most spectacular waterfall, with a drop of 182 metres. We’ll explore viewpoints and bridges with superb views before continuing across stark high plateaus dotted with small lakes – frozen for much of the year – and snowfields to Geilo, a popular ski resort, for lunch. We then continue to Oslo, arriving in the evening. Once there, you might explore the lively city centre, stroll the historic harbour and head up to the rooftop of the modern Opera House.
Day 10 - Oslo
In the morning we’ll take a panoramic tour of Oslo – beautifully set amid nature and celebrated as Europe’s green capital. With a local guide we’ll pass the Royal Palace, stop in Vigeland Park with its remarkable sculptures, and view the exterior of the Town Hall, the old port and the new Opera House. After the tour, we suggest you visit one of the city’s renowned museums, such as the Munch Museum. The afternoon is at leisure.
Day 11 - Oslo
After breakfast our journey comes to an end – leaving you with wonderful memories.
