Touch down in Cairo and set off on a 12 day adventure that loops back to the capital, blending ancient icons with Nile side calm and Red Sea downtime. You'll explore the pyramids and Sphinx at Giza, delve into Memphis and Saqqara, and browse the Grand Egyptian Museum. You'll fly south to Aswan for a stay in a Nubian village and the island Temple of Philae, then drift north on a Nile cruise – Kom Ombo, Edfu and Luxor Temple after dark. On Luxor's West Bank expect to see the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut and Karnak. Finish with beach time in Hurghada before returning to Cairo.

Day 1 - Cairo
On arrival at Cairo International Airport, we meet you, assist with visa formalities and luggage, and provide a smooth transfer to your city hotel. Settle back as first glimpses of Egypt’s capital unfold – lively streets, historic silhouettes and a palpable sense of energy. After you check in, you have time at leisure to unwind, explore nearby cafés or simply absorb the vibrant atmosphere before the journey continues.
Day 2 - Cairo - Giza - Mit Rahineh (Memphis) - Saqqara
We travel from central Cairo to the Giza Plateau, gateway to Egypt’s most iconic monuments. Standing before the Great Pyramids of Giza – the last surviving Wonder of the Ancient World – we learn how these monumental tombs were conceived and built for the pharaohs more than 4,000 years ago. We then take in the Great Sphinx, its lion’s body and human face keeping watch over the plateau – an enduring symbol wrapped in mystery.We leave Giza for the ancient city of Memphis, driving through rural scenes that echo the rise of early Egyptian civilisation. In Memphis we explore the open–air museum, pausing at the impressive statue of Ramses II and other artefacts that speak to the grandeur of the earliest dynasties. We continue to nearby Saqqara, passing villages and palm groves en route. Here we discover the Step Pyramid of King Djoser – Egypt’s first pyramid – a breakthrough in architecture that charts the early evolution of royal tombs.After visiting Memphis and Saqqara, we return to Cairo to round off the day’s touring.
Day 3 - Cairo - Aswan
We explore the Grand Egyptian Museum, home to a vast collection of ancient artefacts, including the treasures of Tutankhamun – a compelling window into Egypt’s royal past. In the evening we take a domestic flight from Cairo to Aswan, swapping the bustle of the capital for the tranquillity of Upper Egypt. On arrival we transfer to our hotel overlooking the Nile and check in for the night. You can unwind in serene Aswan, where the wide river, warm sunshine and friendly locals set a relaxed southern rhythm.
Day 4 - Aswan
We sail the Nile on a leisurely journey to a traditional Nubian village and spend the night in a Nubian style guesthouse. We wander past brightly painted mud–brick homes, meet welcoming locals and experience time–honoured river culture and hospitality. Crossing back over the Nile, we visit the magnificent Temple of Philae, dedicated to Isis – an island sanctuary of graceful colonnades and intricate carvings that whisper stories of devotion. Finally, we board our Nile cruise in Aswan and settle in – the river becomes our base for the next stage of discovery.
Day 5 - Aswan - Kom Ombo - Edfu
We sail from Aswan towards Kom Ombo, relaxing on deck as palm–fringed banks and village life drift by – one of the Nile’s most evocative stretches. At Kom Ombo we explore the remarkable twin temple dedicated to Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus, the falcon–headed god – its symmetrical plan, fine reliefs and riverside setting creating superb photo opportunities. We continue north to Edfu, savouring serene river scenes and glimpses of daily life along the fertile banks – a soothing journey between two of Upper Egypt’s key temple sites.
Day 6 - Edfu - Luxor
At Edfu, we explore the impressive Temple of Horus, among Egypt’s best preserved sanctuaries, where soaring columns and crisp hieroglyphs showcase Ptolemaic artistry. We then sail north towards Luxor, passing Esna and easing into the unhurried rhythm of river life, before spending the night on board our comfortable 5–star cruise ship. After dusk, we visit Luxor Temple beneath the night sky, its colonnades aglow – a magical setting that brings ancient history vividly to life.
Day 7 - Luxor
We explore the legendary Valley of the Kings – resting place of Egypt’s greatest pharaohs, including Tutankhamun – stepping into beautifully decorated tombs that illuminate beliefs about the afterlife and royal power. We then admire the mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut, set beneath dramatic cliffs – elegant terraces celebrating her reign and divine legacy. We continue to Medinet Habu, the grand mortuary temple of Ramses III, where towering gateways and vivid reliefs reveal New Kingdom ceremony and art. We pause at the Colossi of Memnon – twin sentinels of Amenhotep III that have watched over the West Bank for millennia – before wandering through the vast Karnak Temple complex, the great sanctuary of Amun Ra with its forest of columns, serene sacred lake and intricate carvings.
Day 8 - Luxor - Hurghada
We travel across the Eastern Desert from Luxor to Hurghada, watching the golden landscape unfold as we near the Red Sea coast – a scenic link between ancient wonders and seaside relaxation. On arrival in Hurghada we reach a popular resort known for its beaches and vibrant marine life. You can settle in at your own pace, relax on the shore or explore the waterfront.
Day 9 - Hurghada
Enjoy a free day in Hurghada – you can lounge on the beach, take a gentle swim or choose from optional water activities. The Red Sea coast offers the ideal blend of relaxation with a dash of adventure.

Spend a free day in Hurghada – you can unwind on the beach or, if you wish, try optional water activities. This coastal setting serves up relaxation and adventure in equal measure.
Day 11 - Hurghada - Cairo
We set off on a scenic overland drive from the Red Sea resort of Hurghada to the vibrant capital, Cairo, crossing wide desert plains and passing small villages along the way. On arrival, we take a guided walk through Old Cairo’s atmospheric lanes, passing traditional workshops and specialist market streets for an authentic glimpse of historic trading life. We explore Bab al Futuh, one of the monumental medieval gateways with stout towers guarding the old northern entrance, then wander through the lively Khan el Khalili bazaar – a maze of alleys filled with crafts, spices, jewellery and textiles, punctuated by time–honoured cafés. You can browse, bargain or pause for a drink and watch the world go by.
Day 12 - Cairo
You have time at leisure in Cairo – relax, linger in local cafés or wander lively streets before departure. We transfer you from your Cairo hotel to the airport for your flight, bringing your memorable journey through Egypt to a close as you bid farewell to this historic land.
