Itinerary
Day 1 - Cairo
We meet and assist you on arrival at Cairo International Airport, taking care of visa formalities and luggage, then transfer you comfortably to your city hotel. Settle in as we drive through lively streets for your first glimpses of Egypt’s bustling capital. You then have time at leisure in Cairo – relax at the hotel, explore nearby cafés or soak up the city’s vibrant atmosphere – before your journey continues.
Day 2 - Giza - Cairo - Aswan
At Giza we stand before the Great Pyramids – the last surviving Wonder of the Ancient World – and learn about their construction and the pharaohs who commissioned them. We continue to the enigmatic Great Sphinx, its lion’s body and human face guarding the plateau. We pause for a delicious serving of Koshary – a hearty blend of lentils, rice, pasta, chickpeas and tangy tomato sauce – for an authentic taste of local life. We also explore the Egyptian Museum, home to an extraordinary collection of ancient artefacts including the treasures of Tutankhamun. In the evening we board the overnight train to Aswan from Ramses Station in Cairo – settle in and enjoy the rhythmic journey along the Nile Valley as the landscapes slip by after dark.
Day 3 - Aswan
We arrive in serene Aswan, where the Nile flows wide and calm, and warm southern sunshine welcomes us. We sail to the magnificent Temple of Philae, dedicated to Isis – its intricate carvings and tranquil island setting tell stories of ancient devotion. Later we continue along the river to a traditional Nubian village and spend the night in a Nubian style guesthouse – meeting the community, admiring brightly painted mud brick homes and experiencing genuine hospitality shaped by life on the Nile.
Day 4 - Aswan
We board a traditional felucca and drift downstream, taking in palm lined banks and timeless Nubian scenery. The unhurried rhythm of the river sets the pace as canvas fills with the breeze and the water glides past. As night falls we settle aboard for a peaceful sleep beneath a canopy of stars – an authentic glimpse of Egypt’s timeless Nile.
Day 5 - Edfu - Luxor - Aswan
We step off the felucca in Aswan and meet our road transport for the journey north to Edfu, following the river past rural villages and fertile fields. In Edfu we explore the Temple of Horus – its towering columns and finely carved hieroglyphs showcase superb Ptolemaic craftsmanship. We then continue along the Nile Valley to Luxor, passing green farmland and small riverside communities, and as evening falls we visit Luxor Temple under the night sky – its illuminated columns and reliefs glowing with golden light.
Day 6 - Luxor
We explore the legendary Valley of the Kings – resting place of Egypt’s great pharaohs, including Tutankhamun – stepping inside richly painted tombs that illuminate beliefs about the afterlife. We discover Deir el Medina, the village of artisans who built and decorated the royal tombs, where preserved wall paintings and modest homes reveal daily life for master craftsmen. We then admire the elegant mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut, set beneath dramatic cliffs – its terraces celebrating her reign and divine legacy.
Day 7 - Luxor - Hurghada
We wander through the magnificent Karnak Temple complex – an immense sanctuary dedicated to Amun–Ra, with a forest of columns, a sacred lake and intricate reliefs capturing the grandeur of the New Kingdom. We then cross the Eastern Desert from Luxor to Hurghada, watching the golden landscape unfold as we approach the Red Sea coast. In Hurghada you can relax by the sea, make the most of the resort facilities, stroll the palm lined promenade or take an optional walk through the Old Town to experience local life.
Day 8 - Hurghada
Take the day at your own pace by the Red Sea – you can swim, snorkel or simply bask in the sunshine – a perfect chance to recharge before we continue your journey.
Day 9 - Hurghada
Enjoy another unhurried day by the Red Sea – you might swim, snorkel or simply lounge in the sun – an ideal pause to relax mid tour.
Day 10 - Hurghada
Savour a final leisurely day at the resort or along the shore – you can swim, snorkel or unwind on the beach – the ideal reset before we move on.
Day 11 - Hurghada - Cairo
We fly from Hurghada to Cairo, swapping the Red Sea coast for the bustle of the capital and clear views of the desert en route. On arrival we take a short city tour, visiting the Citadel – with its mosque and museum – and pausing for panoramic views across the city before continuing into the old quarters. We wander through the lively Khan el Khalili Bazaar, a maze of alleys filled with crafts, spices, jewellery, textiles and traditional cafés – you can browse at your own pace and soak up the atmosphere.
Day 12 - Cairo
Enjoy some leisure time in Cairo – you may wish to relax, linger in local cafés or wander vibrant streets before your onward travel. We transfer you from your hotel to the airport for your departing flight – a fitting farewell to a remarkable journey through Egypt.
