We begin with an early morning visit to the Egyptian Museum, home to an extraordinary collection of antiquities including the treasures of Tutankhamun, offering a vivid window onto Egypt’s royal past. We then stand before the Great Pyramids of Giza and the enigmatic Sphinx – masterpieces of ancient engineering and enduring symbols of pharaonic power. In the evening we board the overnight train from Ramses Station in Cairo to Aswan – settle in and enjoy the rhythmic journey along the Nile Valley as the landscapes slip by after dark.
Day 3 - Luxor
We pause at the towering Colossi of Memnon – twin statues of Amenhotep III that have watched over the Theban Necropolis for more than 3,000 years – a spectacular photo stop amid Luxor’s open air history. We explore the Valley of the Kings, burial place of Egypt’s greatest pharaohs, and step inside beautifully painted tombs that illuminate beliefs about the afterlife. We admire the elegant mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut, set beneath dramatic cliffs, before continuing to Medinet Habu, the monumental temple of Ramesses III where soaring gateways and vivid reliefs showcase New Kingdom artistry.
