Welcome to your adventure! Upon arrival in Paris, we'll arrange a convenient transfer to your hotel, where you can take a moment to settle in and enjoy some free time exploring the charming surroundings. In the afternoon, you will receive essential information about your tour—this will be available at the hotel reception, either in person or via information signs. This will set you up perfectly for the journey ahead as you prepare to discover the wonders of Paris and beyond. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Paris
We begin our day by delving into the rich heritage of France at the majestic Palace of Versailles, a masterpiece renowned for its splendid gardens and opulent architecture. Please note that admission is not included. Returning to Paris, we make our way to Montmartre, an enchanting area known for its bohemian charm, vibrant artist community, and lively cabarets. Day 3 - Paris - Rouen
We begin our third day in the heart of Paris with a visit to the Eiffel Tower. You'll have the opportunity to ascend to the second floor of this iconic structure, with tickets included for your convenience. Following this, we embark on a serene boat cruise along the River Seine, offering a delightful perspective of the city's majestic sights. The afternoon is yours to explore Paris at your leisure. Perhaps dive into the city's rich tapestry of art and culture, enjoy a leisurely stroll through its charming streets, or simply soak up the Parisian atmosphere in a local café. Around 4:00 p.m., we depart from Paris and head towards the Normandy region, arriving in the historic city of Rouen. Once there, you'll have free time to wander through its ancient streets, showcasing stunning medieval architecture and the remarkable Gothic cathedral—an enchanting blend of history and culture dating back to Roman times. Please note that if the wait times at the Eiffel Tower prove too lengthy, we may adjust our plans to visit at a more convenient time, potentially moving the visit to Sunday.
Day 4 - Rouen - English Channel - Canterbury - London
Today begins with a leisurely stroll through the heart of Rouen, allowing you to soak up the atmosphere of this historical city. Following this, we continue north through France. Our journey includes a scenic crossing of the English Channel by ferry, ultimately arriving in Canterbury. Known as the religious heart of England, Canterbury offers a charming historic centre that's bound to captivate your interest. Our travels then lead us to London, where you'll have a chance to explore the iconic Tower Bridge area at your own pace, before we make our way to the hotel for a restful evening.
Day 5 - London
Explore London with us on an engaging panoramic tour guided by a local expert, unveiling the rich culture and history of this iconic city. During our journey, you'll encounter well-known landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament, the River Thames, and Buckingham Palace—where, depending on the dates, you may witness the Changing of the Guard. In the evening, we’ll meet in Piccadilly to wander through Leicester Square, Chinatown, and Soho. These areas are famed for their vibrant atmosphere, theatres, and diverse entertainment options. You'll have a wide choice of restaurants for dinner before we return to the hotel.
Day 6 - London - Colchester - Colchester - Volendam Ferry
In the morning, we will explore the renowned British Museum, one of the oldest museums in the world, where we can marvel at artefacts from diverse cultures across the globe. After some free time for lunch, you can venture into the bustling streets of Camden, famous for its lively street market where unique treasures and global cuisine await. At around 4:00 p.m., we head to Colchester, the oldest recorded town in England, where we can enjoy a leisurely wander through its historic streets. Our voyage continues to Harwich, where we will board a ferry for an overnight journey to the Netherlands, staying in comfortable en suite cabins. Please note: Due to the limited availability of cabins on the ferry, adjustments might be needed; we could travel to Amsterdam via a daytime ferry, with an overnight stay in Antwerp, or alternatively, take a train or flight to Amsterdam.
Day 7 - Colchester - Volendam Ferry - Volendam - Amsterdam
We arrive around eight in the morning in the Netherlands, docking at Hoek van Holland. Our first stop is the enchanting fishing village of Volendam, known for its charming atmosphere and picturesque views. After soaking in the local sights, we journey to Amsterdam for a guided tour of the vibrant city. This tour includes a visit to iconic landmarks such as a classic windmill and the Rembrandt statue. You'll also experience the modern charm of the South District and witness the traditional art of diamond cutting at Museum Square. Our explorations end with a stroll into the heart of Amsterdam, after which you'll have free time to further explore the city's unique blend of history and contemporary culture at your leisure.
Day 8 - Amsterdam - Hamelin - Berlin
On the eighth day of our journey, we'll depart from Amsterdam and make our way towards Germany. Our first stop is the enchanting town of Hamelin, famed for its connection to the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, the Pied Piper of Hamelin. As you wander through the charming streets and browse the local shops, you'll be transported back to a time of myths and legends. Continuing our journey, we'll pass through Marienborn, once a significant border crossing point between East and West Germany until reunification in 1990, offering a historical glimpse into the nation's past. Day 9 - Berlin
Today, we delve into the vibrant city of Berlin, Germany's captivating capital. Join us for a comprehensive tour with a local guide, providing insights into the city's compelling history and culture. On our coach tour, you'll have the opportunity to view notable landmarks such as Museum Island, the Television Tower, and the bustling shopping streets in the city centre. We'll also take in the impressive Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag, as well as Berlin's sprawling parks. Our itinerary includes visits to two poignant historical sites: the Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall Memorial Museum, which serve as sobering reminders of Germany's turbulent past. In the early evening, we'll transport you to the lively Kantstrasse area, where you can experience the energetic vibe of the city.
Day 10 - Berlin - Dresden - Prague
Our journey continues through the picturesque forests as we make our way to Dresden, a city celebrated for its remarkable architectural and artistic heritage, and a highlight on any German itinerary. You'll have the opportunity to stroll through this cultural hub, admiring its grand palaces and perhaps enjoying a leisurely lunch at one of the inviting restaurants or coffee shops scattered throughout the city. Afterwards, we set out for the Czech Republic, arriving in the enchanting city of Prague. We'll head to the Old Town Square, a bustling area teeming with energy and an exciting introduction to Prague's vibrant atmosphere. Here, you can choose from a variety of dining options, featuring cuisines from Czech to Chinese, Indian to Italian, before we return to the hotel.
Day 11 - Prague
Today, we explore Prague, celebrated as the Baroque treasure of Europe. Our informed local guide will accompany us on a panoramic tour, showcasing the city's most remarkable landmarks, including a visit to the splendid Prague Castle, where admission is included. Following this cultural immersion, we'll unwind on a serene boat ride along the Vltava River, also included in our itinerary. In the afternoon, you are free to wander and discover the city at your own pace, taking in its historic charm and vibrant atmosphere.
Day 12 - Prague - Pilsen - Rothenburg - Frankfurt
We will set off early from Prague, making our first stop in Pilsen, located in western Bohemia, famously known for its beer. You will have the opportunity to explore the city's historic heart, where you'll find the Old Town Square, cathedral, Plague Column, and Renaissance-style town hall. Our journey then continues across the border into Germany, where we trace part of the Romantic Road. We'll visit Rothenburg, a picturesque town that feels as though it belongs in a fairy tale, renowned for being one of Germany's most charming villages. Afterwards, we head towards Frankfurt, the financial hub of Germany. Upon our evening arrival, you can enjoy some free time exploring the historic city centre, which boasts a variety of restaurants offering diverse cuisines including Indian, Asian, Italian, and international dishes.
