Day 1 - Paris
Welcome to Paris! Upon your arrival, we will arrange a transfer to your hotel, where you can unwind and enjoy some leisure time. In the afternoon, you'll receive essential information about the start of your tour. This will either be communicated in person or displayed on the information boards located at the hotel reception. Get ready to embark on an exciting adventure in one of the world's most enchanting cities. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Paris
After breakfast, we'll explore the grandeur of French history at the Palace of Versailles, famed for its stunning gardens and Baroque architecture. Please note, entry is not included. On returning to Paris, we'll wander through Montmartre, the artistic heart of Paris, known for its talented artists and vibrant cabarets. Our discovery of the city continues with a panoramic tour led by a knowledgeable local guide, offering insight into the charm of Paris's grand boulevards and renowned landmarks. We'll then return to the hotel to relax. In the evening, why not consider attending an optional variety show to experience some Parisian entertainment?
Day 3 - Paris - Rouen
Today, we begin our exploration in the heart of Paris with a visit to one of the city's most iconic landmarks, the Eiffel Tower. You will have the opportunity to ascend to the second floor and take in breathtaking views of the cityscape (tickets are included). Following this, we embark on a serene cruise along the Seine, allowing us to appreciate the beauty of Paris from a different perspective. The afternoon is yours to enjoy as you wish, whether it's visiting museums, shopping, or trying local delicacies.At approximately 4:00 p.m., we depart Paris, making our way to Normandy, with our destination being the historic city of Rouen. Upon arrival, you will have free time to wander through Rouen's enchanting medieval streets, where you can admire its blend of Roman and Gothic architecture, including the majestic cathedral that has stood for centuries. This city, steeped in history, offers a compelling mix of culture and charm. Please note that if there are lengthy wait times at the Eiffel Tower, we may reschedule our visit to ensure your comfort and convenience.
Day 4 - Rouen - English Channel - Canterbury - London
Our day begins with a leisurely stroll through the historic centre of Rouen, where you'll have the opportunity to admire its charming medieval architecture and impressive Gothic cathedral. After exploring Rouen, we set off towards northern France, where we will cross the English Channel by ferry. Upon reaching the other side, we arrive in Canterbury, known as the religious heart of England. The town's enchanting historic centre offers a glimpse into its rich ecclesiastical history. We then continue our journey to London, where you can enjoy some free time in the Tower Bridge area. Known as one of London's most iconic landmarks, Tower Bridge offers stunning views and a vibrant atmosphere. Afterwards, we will head to our hotel for the evening.
Day 5 - London
Join us in discovering the vibrant city of London with a comprehensive panoramic tour led by a local guide. We'll explore famed landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament, the River Thames, and Buckingham Palace. Depending on our visit's timing, you might even witness the iconic Changing of the Guard. As evening falls, we’ll gather at Piccadilly for a leisurely walk through Leicester Square, Chinatown, and Soho – areas brimming with energy and renowned for their theatres and vibrant nightlife. For your evening meal, you'll have a plethora of dining options before we return to the hotel to conclude the day's explorations.
Day 6 - London - Cambridge - York - Durham
On Day 6, we venture from London towards the north of England with our first destination being the historic city of Cambridge. Renowned for its beautiful colleges and academic legacy, Cambridge offers a delightful environment to explore. After taking in the sights, we'll pause for lunch before continuing our journey to York. Here, you'll be captivated by York’s majestic cathedral, ancient Roman walls, and bustling shopping streets. You’ll have time to wander and discover the city's charm at your own pace. Later, we’ll head further north to Durham, a vibrant medieval town famed for its magnificent cathedral positioned impressively beside the castle.
Day 7 - Durham - Alnwick - Edinburgh
On day seven, we set off for Scotland with our first stop in the charming town of Alnwick, known for its picturesque gardens and the grand medieval castle that famously featured in the Harry Potter films. Continuing our journey, we head to Edinburgh, arriving around midday. This lively city, celebrated as Scotland’s capital, is a hub of culture and history and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its monumental centre. Towering over Edinburgh, the regal castle offers stunning views of the city’s dramatic landscape. We’ll explore its vibrant streets on a panoramic tour with a local guide, who will help us uncover the unique character and history that makes Edinburgh one of Northern Europe’s most exciting cities.
Day 8 - Edinburgh - Inverness - Loch Ness - Fort Augustus - Glasgow
Today, we embark on an adventurous exploration of the Scottish Highlands, beginning with a leisurely coffee and stroll in the quaint village of Pitlochry. Continuing our journey northwards, we'll traverse through Inverness, located near the legendary Loch Ness. Our next stop is the historic Urquhart Castle, where we'll board a boat to glide over the dark, mysterious waters of Loch Ness. As we proceed, we'll pass through Fort Augustus, noted for its canal locks, and Fort William, a popular tourist destination at the foot of Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in the United Kingdom. Our route then takes us southwards through the often snow-dusted high plateaus and along the scenic shores of Loch Lomond, culminating in our arrival in Glasgow at the end of the day.Please note: For groups arriving in Edinburgh from 15th November to the end of February, the itinerary is adjusted to accommodate shorter daylight hours and potential snowy conditions. Departing Edinburgh early in the morning, we'll head to Pitlochry for a visit to a traditional whisky distillery. We continue to Stirling, where the imposing historic centre is crowned by Stirling Castle, a site of great historical significance. After lunch, we'll briefly stop to photograph The Kelpies, striking sculptures inspired by Scottish folklore, before arriving in Glasgow by late afternoon, allowing time for a walk around the city centre.
Day 9 - Glasgow - Belfast - Dublin
As we bid farewell to Glasgow, our adventure continues as we journey south to board a ferry from Cairnryan, crossing over to Northern Ireland. Once we reach Belfast, you'll have the opportunity to explore this revitalised city, known for its significant history and evolving cultural landscape. After our stop in Belfast, we'll proceed into Eire, with our final destination being Dublin. We'll arrive in the Irish capital by the end of the day, ready to immerse ourselves in its unique charm and hospitality.
Day 10 - Dublin
On the tenth day of our journey, we commence our exploration of Dublin, the serene capital of Ireland. Our adventure begins with a panoramic tour, where we will take a leisurely stroll along the River Liffey, experiencing the city's charming parks, historic university, and the vibrant life of its bustling streets. As we approach Trinity College, we will admire its distinguished exterior, steeped in academic history. The afternoon is yours to enjoy as you wish—whether it's delving into Dublin's culture, meandering through its quaint alleys, or simply relaxing in a cosy café, the choice is entirely yours. Please note, in certain cases, the city tour might occur on the afternoon of our arrival, depending on when we reach Dublin and the hours of daylight available.
Day 11 - Dublin - Caernarfon - Liverpool
In the morning, we set sail on a ferry from Dublin, embarking on a journey lasting three to three and a half hours as we head towards the picturesque landscape of Wales. Our first stop is Caernarfon, a charming seaside town famed for its World Heritage-listed castle. Here, you'll have time to savour lunch and wander around the historic grounds. Our journey then continues to Liverpool, a city that boasts World Heritage status and features the United Kingdom's second-largest port. We will take a brief bus tour of this vibrant city. For those interested, there's the option to visit The Beatles Museum and delve into the city's legendary musical heritage.
Day 12 - Liverpool - Stratford - Oxford - London
On Day 12, our adventure continues through central England. We make our way to Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare. Here, you’ll have time to savour lunch and explore this historic town at your leisure, perhaps visiting sites connected to the legendary playwright. After enjoying Stratford-upon-Avon, our journey takes us to Oxford, a city with a rich legacy in education and culture. Oxford has long been a cradle for intellects, having educated kings, politicians, philosophers, and scientists alike. Following our visit, we head to London, where we are expected to arrive in the evening.
Day 13 - London - Colchester - Colchester - Volendam Ferry
We begin our day in London with a visit to the British Museum, one of the world's most venerable cultural institutions, where we'll explore fascinating artefacts from every corner of the globe. After enjoying some free time, we head to the lively Camden district, renowned for its eclectic street market. Here, you can browse unique finds or savour lunch at a variety of food stands and quaint eateries. In the afternoon, we depart for Colchester, England's oldest recorded town, where you'll have the opportunity to wander through its historic streets and soak up the rich heritage. Our day concludes with a journey to Harwich, where we board an overnight ferry to the Netherlands, staying in comfortable en suite cabins. Please note, if cabin availability is limited, the itinerary may change; we might travel to Amsterdam via a daytime ferry with an overnight in Antwerp, or opt for a train or flight.
Day 14 - Colchester - Volendam Ferry - Volendam - Amsterdam
We will arrive at Hoek van Holland around 8:00 a.m. and then make our way to the charming fishing village of Volendam. This picturesque spot is known for its traditional Dutch houses and vibrant harbour. Following this brief stop, we will proceed to Amsterdam, where you will enjoy a panoramic tour of the city's most iconic landmarks, including highlights of its renowned diamond-cutting techniques. As the day unfolds, we'll whisk you off to Rembrandtplein for dinner. This lively square is home to a multitude of restaurants serving global cuisine and is situated near the famous Red Light District, celebrated for its dynamic nightlife.
Day 15 - Amsterdam - Hamelin - Berlin
Today, we leave Amsterdam and journey into Germany, beginning with a visit to the charming town of Hamelin. This picturesque locale, known from the Brothers Grimm fairy tale of the Pied Piper, boasts lovely shops and enchanting streets that seem to bring the famous story to life. We’ll then carry on to Berlin, passing through Marienborn, the historical border that once divided East and West Germany until reunification in 1990. By evening, we’ll arrive in Berlin, where our adventure in this vibrant capital will continue.
Day 16 - Berlin
Today, we delve into the fascinating city of Berlin, the vibrant capital of Germany, with a guided tour that offers a deep dive into its rich history and culture. From our coach, you will catch sight of Museum Island, the iconic Television Tower, and the bustling shopping streets in the heart of the city. We will also pass by the old cathedral, scarred by the events of World War II, the historic Brandenburg Gate, the impressive Reichstag building, and the city's expansive parks.Our tour takes a poignant turn with visits to the Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall Memorial Museum—two significant sites that echo Germany's tumultuous 20th-century history. These stops provide a powerful reflection on the past and its impact on the present.After our morning tour, the afternoon is yours to explore Berlin at your leisure.
