Day 1 - Paris
Upon your arrival in Paris, you will be transferred to your hotel, allowing you some leisure time to unwind and explore your surroundings at your own pace. Later in the afternoon, we'll provide you with all the essential details about the start of your tour. This information will be shared either in person or via notices placed at the hotel reception. Do keep in mind that the tour may see adjustments in group composition, with travellers joining or leaving at different stages of the route. However, the maximum group size remains constant.
Day 2 - Paris
On our second day, we delve into France's storied past with a visit to the impressive Palace of Versailles. While admission is optional, the palace is famed for both its opulent interiors and magnificent gardens, offering a glimpse into the grandeur of France’s royal history. After soaking in the splendour of Versailles, we return to the heart of Paris to explore Montmartre. This captivating bohemian district has long been a haven for artists, painters, and cabaret enthusiasts. Our day continues with a guided panoramic tour of Paris, allowing us to appreciate the city’s grand avenues and iconic landmarks from the comfort of our coach. Upon returning to the hotel, the evening is yours to explore, with the option to attend a vibrant variety show if you fancy a taste of Parisian entertainment.
Day 3 - Paris - Rouen
Today, we begin our exploration in the heart of Paris with a visit to the legendary Eiffel Tower. You'll have the opportunity to ascend to the second floor of this iconic structure, with your tickets already secured. Following this, we'll drift along the Seine on a tranquil boat cruise, soaking in the picturesque sights of the city from the water. The afternoon is yours to discover Paris independently, whether that's perusing elegant boutiques or wandering through charming neighbourhoods.At approximately 4:00 p.m., we will set off from Paris, travelling to the Normandy region, where we'll arrive in the historic city of Rouen. Once there, you'll have some free time to explore its well-preserved medieval centre, renowned for its beautiful Gothic cathedral and cobbled streets, with a history stretching back to Roman times. Please be aware that if queues at the Eiffel Tower are overly long, we may alter the timing of our visit (or defer it to Sunday), ensuring your convenience and enjoyment.
Day 4 - Rouen - English Channel - Canterbury - London
Today, we'll begin with a leisurely walk through the charming centre of Rouen, a city renowned for its medieval architecture and the grand Gothic cathedral that stands as a testament to its rich history. After basking in the ambiance of Rouen, we'll make our way to northern France. Here, we will board a ferry and cross the iconic English Channel, arriving in Canterbury. Known as the religious heart of England, Canterbury boasts a delightful historic centre that perfectly captures the essence of its storied past. After exploring Canterbury, we'll continue our journey to London. Upon arrival, you'll have some free time to explore the area around Tower Bridge – an iconic symbol of the city. As the day winds down, we'll head to the hotel for a well-deserved rest.
Day 5 - London
On the fifth day of our journey, we embark on a panoramic tour of London with a knowledgeable local guide. This captivating city tour offers a window into London's rich culture and history, highlighting iconic landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament, the stately River Thames, and Buckingham Palace. With a bit of luck, you might even witness the renowned Changing of the Guard ceremony, depending on the timing of our visit. As evening falls, we'll reconvene at Piccadilly for a leisurely stroll through the vibrant areas of Leicester Square, Chinatown, and Soho. These lively neighbourhoods are famed for their bustling atmosphere, theatres, and diverse entertainment options. You'll find an array of dining choices, perfect for enjoying dinner, before we return to the hotel for the night.
Day 6 - London - Colchester - Colchester - Volendam Ferry
On day six, we'll begin our day with a visit to the British Museum, one of the world’s oldest and most renowned museums, showcasing a diverse range of cultural artefacts from across the globe. After some free time for lunch, we head to the lively district of Camden, famous for its eclectic street market. Here, you can explore an array of unique items and taste diverse cuisines from the various food stands.Around 4:00 p.m., we'll set off for Colchester, known as the oldest recorded town in England. We'll take a leisurely walk through its historic streets, appreciating the rich history that surrounds us. Our journey then continues to Harwich, where we board a ferry for an overnight crossing to the Netherlands, staying in comfortable en suite cabins. Please be aware that due to the limited number of ferry cabins, the itinerary might be modified. We may either travel from London to Amsterdam via a daytime ferry with an overnight stay in Antwerp or take an alternative journey by train or flight directly to Amsterdam.
Day 7 - Colchester - Volendam Ferry - Volendam - Amsterdam
We will dock at Hoek van Holland around eight in the morning, marking our arrival in the Netherlands. Our first stop will be Volendam, a charming fishing village known for its picturesque setting. Later, we'll continue to Amsterdam, where a guided tour awaits us. This vibrant city offers an intriguing blend of history and modernity, from the iconic windmills to Rembrandt's timeless presence, the stylish South District, and the fascinating craft of diamond cutting at Museum Square. The tour will culminate with a leisurely stroll into the heart of Amsterdam. You’ll then have the remainder of the day to explore the city at your own pace.
Day 8 - Amsterdam - Hamelin - Berlin
We depart Amsterdam in the morning, setting off towards Germany. Our first stop is the quaint town of Hamelin, whose charming streets and shops may remind you of the famous Brothers Grimm fairy tale, the Pied Piper of Hamelin. After soaking in the fairy-tale atmosphere, we continue our journey through Marienborn – a significant historical site once marking the border between East and West Germany until reunification in 1990. This poignant stop provides a glimpse into Germany's divided past. Our day concludes as we arrive in the vibrant capital city, Berlin, by evening.
Day 9 - Berlin
Explore the vibrant city of Berlin, Germany's captivating capital, with the guidance of a local expert. From the comfort of our coach, we observe Museum Island, the soaring Television Tower, bustling shopping streets, and the former splendour of the cathedral destroyed in the war. Our route takes us past the iconic Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, and Berlin's expansive green spaces. We pause to reflect at the poignant Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall Memorial Museum, sobering sites that serve as reminders of Germany's complex history. The afternoon is yours to delve deeper into Berlin's rich tapestry at your leisure. As evening approaches, we'll escort you to the lively Kantstrasse area, known for its dynamic atmosphere and variety of dining options.
Day 10 - Berlin - Dresden - Prague
As we continue our adventure, we head towards Dresden, a city celebrated for its outstanding architecture and rich artistic heritage. Recognised as one of Germany’s top destinations, Dresden offers a wealth of impressive palaces to explore, alongside a variety of lovely restaurants and coffee shops where you can enjoy lunch. After soaking up the beauty of Dresden, we journey onwards to the Czech Republic, arriving in the vibrant city of Prague. Upon arrival, we’ll explore the lively Old Town Square, bustling with energy and activities, perfect for your first taste of Prague. Choose from an array of dining options offering diverse international cuisines, including traditional Czech, Chinese, Indian, and Italian. Later, we return to the hotel to conclude an enriching day.
Day 11 - Prague
Today, we delve into the heart of Prague, renowned as the Baroque jewel of Europe. Our local guide will lead us on an enlightening panoramic tour, spotlighting the city's most remarkable landmarks. We'll visit Prague Castle, where entrance is included, offering a glimpse into the grandeur of Czech history. Following this, we’ll take a refreshing boat ride along the Vltava River, which is also included in the itinerary. The afternoon is yours to discover the city at your leisure. Stroll through the cobbled streets, admire the stunning architecture, or perhaps savour some local delicacies.
Day 12 - Prague - Pilsen - Rothenburg - Frankfurt
We set off early from Prague, heading towards Pilsen in Western Bohemia. Known globally for its beer, Pilsen offers a delightful historic centre for you to explore. Wander around the Old Town Square to discover the Gothic cathedral, the Plague Column, and a stunning Renaissance-era town hall. From Pilsen, we journey into Germany, travelling along a segment of the Romantic Road. Here, you'll find Rothenburg, one of Germany's most beautiful towns. With its well-preserved medieval architecture, Rothenburg looks as if it's been lifted straight from a fairy tale. After taking in the enchanting sights, we continue to Frankfurt, Germany's financial hub. Arriving in the evening, you'll have free time to explore the historic city centre, where a diverse array of restaurants serve cuisines ranging from Indian and Asian to Italian and beyond, providing plenty of dining options for the evening.
Day 13 - Frankfurt - Cruise on the Rhine - Cologne - Amsterdam
Today, we embark on a delightful cruise along the most scenic stretch of the Rhine River, journeying between the charming villages of Rüdesheim and St. Goar. This area is famous for its stunning landscapes and picturesque vistas. After enjoying the tranquil river views, we will continue our travels to Cologne, celebrated for its magnificent Gothic cathedral that dominates the city skyline. Later on, we will proceed to the Netherlands, arriving in Amsterdam by evening.
Day 14 - Amsterdam
As we conclude our adventure in Amsterdam, enjoy a hearty breakfast before reflecting on the incredible experiences and memories crafted throughout our journey. Today marks the end of our tour, providing you with ample time to cherish the sights and stories you've gathered along the way.
