Day 1 - Athens
On arrival at Athens airport, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle. The remainder of the day is yours to relax and explore at your own pace. You might enjoy a leisurely stroll through the charming streets of Athens, wander the picturesque Plaka district, savour a coffee in one of the inviting cafés at Agia Eirini Square, or browse for souvenirs along Adrianou Street. Day 2 - Athens
After breakfast at the hotel, spend the day exploring Athens at your own pace. Discover the city’s rich history and vibrant neighbourhoods, whether you choose to visit iconic landmarks, browse local shops, or simply enjoy the atmosphere in one of the many cafés. Overnight in Athens.
Day 3 - Athens - Mycenae - Nauplia - Athens
After breakfast at the hotel, we travel from Athens along the coastal National Highway to the Corinth Canal, where we make a brief stop. Continuing to Mycenae, we explore the archaeological site that was once the centre of a powerful ancient civilisation from 1600BC to 1100BC. Here, we visit the Palace, the Lionesses Gate, and the tomb traditionally linked to Agamemnon. Following the visit, you have time for lunch independently before we drive through Argos to Nauplia, the first capital of modern Greece. There, we pause to admire the Venetian fortress of Palamidi and the fortified islet of Bourtzi. We return to Athens in the late afternoon for an overnight stay.
Day 4 - Athens - Delphi - Kalabaka
After breakfast, we depart Athens and travel via Thebes and Levadia to the charming village of Arachova, nestled on the slopes of Mount Parnassus. From there, we continue to Delphi to explore the renowned archaeological site, once considered the centre of the ancient Greek world. Following the visit, we journey through scenic villages and towns of Central Greece en route to Kalambaka, where we arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight accommodation.
Day 5 - Kalabaka - Athens - Kalabaka
After breakfast, we visit Meteora, renowned for its extraordinary landscape where ancient monasteries perch atop towering rock formations. These monasteries house invaluable historical and religious artefacts, offering a remarkable glimpse into Greece’s spiritual heritage. Following the visit, we return to Athens, travelling via Trikala, Lamia and making a brief stop at Thermopylae to view the Leonidas Monument across the road. We arrive in Athens early evening for an overnight stay.
Day 6 - Athens
After breakfast at the hotel, we embark on the Delicious Athens Food Tour, offering a fresh perspective on the city through its vibrant culinary scene. Your English-speaking guide will meet you in central Athens to begin with a traditional Greek coffee and an introduction to local food culture. We will sample a variety of Greek specialties, starting with koulouri, a popular street snack, followed by tastings of olive oils, spreads and other delicacies at a specialist food shop. Next, we visit a historic baklava bakery renowned for its syrupy sweets, then enjoy authentic souvlaki with fried potatoes at a well-loved grill. The tour continues at Varvakios Market, Athens’ largest fish, meat and vegetable market, bustling with vendors offering fresh, local produce. We stroll along Spice Street, exploring herbs and spices such as Greek oregano and saffron, and savour a bougatsa pastry for a sweet finish. The tour concludes at a charming deli where we sample Greek meze, cheeses and cured meats. By the end of the experience, you will have a fuller understanding of Greek food culture and a satisfied appetite. Overnight in Athens.
Day 7 - Athens
After breakfast at your hotel, enjoy a free day to explore Athens at your own pace. Discover hidden corners of the city or choose to join an optional full-day cruise to the three Saronic Islands – Poros, Hydra and Aegina. Your coach transfer to the port, all transport between islands, and a buffet lunch aboard the ship are included. The cruise begins with a stop at Poros, where you’ll have around two hours to wander the charming town and browse local shops. Next, sail to Hydra, known for its colourful harbour and unique architecture. You’ll have approximately 90 minutes to explore its narrow lanes, relax with a coffee or shop independently, with the option of a self-guided audio tour. The final stop is Aegina, where you can either join a guided visit to the ancient Temple of Aphaia (at your own expense) or stroll through the main town. Aegina is a popular summer retreat just 50 kilometres from Athens. On the return journey, enjoy a traditional Greek folklore show featuring music and dance as you sail back to the port. After disembarking, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Athens for your overnight stay.
Day 8 - Athens
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to Athens airport to continue your onward travel arrangements. Breakfast is included.
