Day 1 - Athens - Cape Sounio
Upon arrival at Athens Airport, you will be welcomed by our English-speaking assistant and transferred to your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle. Athens offers a selection of exceptional hotels, and your accommodation has been carefully chosen to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable one-night stay. In the afternoon, take a scenic drive along the coastal road, passing the beautiful beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni and Varkiza, before reaching Cape Sounio, the southernmost point of Attica. Here, you can explore the striking white marble ruins of the Temple of Poseidon, set against panoramic views of the Saronic Gulf and nearby islands. You will have time to walk at leisure around the rocky promontory before we return to your hotel for the night.
Day 2 - Athens - Epidaurus - Nauplion - Mycenae - Olympia
After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, travel along the coastal road to the Corinth Canal, where you pause briefly to admire this impressive engineering feat. Continuing on, visit the Theatre of Epidauros, renowned for its exceptional acoustics. Next, stop in the charming town of Nauplion to capture some striking photographs. Your journey then takes you to the ancient site of Mycenae, where you explore the Archaeological Site and the Tomb of Agamemnon. From there, drive through the heart of the Peloponnese, passing the towns of Tripolis and Megalopolis, before arriving in Olympia. Here, you will enjoy dinner in the historic setting known as the birthplace of the Olympic Games. Overnight accommodation is arranged in Olympia.
Day 3 - Olympia - Delphi - Delphi
After breakfast, visit the Archaeological Site of Olympia, including the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the Ancient Stadium, and the Archaeological Museum. Following this, travel through the plains of Elis and Achaia, crossing the impressive Rion-Antirion Bridge over the Corinthian Gulf. Pass the charming towns of Nafpaktos (Lepanto) and Itea before arriving in Delphi. Here, you will settle into a comfortable hotel and enjoy a delicious dinner. Overnight stay in Delphi.
Day 4 - Delphi - Athens
After breakfast, begin with a morning visit to the Archaeological Site and Museum in Delphi, exploring its remarkable ancient treasures. You then have a few hours of free time to wander at your own pace before we depart for the charming village of Arachova, known for its vibrant rugs and carpets. From there, return to Athens via Levadia and Thebes, arriving early evening. Should you wish, there is another opportunity to enjoy an optional evening out in Athens. Overnight in Athens.
Day 5 - Athens
After breakfast and check-out, leave your luggage at the hotel reception and set off on a guided tour showcasing the diverse character of Athens. Visit the Panathenaic Stadium, site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. Continue past the Prime Minister's residence - the former Royal Palace - guarded by the traditional Euzones in their distinctive uniforms. See key landmarks including the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian's Arch, the Parliament building, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, and Constitution Square (Syntagma). On the Acropolis, explore the architectural highlights of Athens' Golden Age: the Propylaea, Temple of Athena Nike, Erechtheion, and the Parthenon, celebrated as a masterpiece of classical harmony. Afterwards, visit the New Acropolis Museum to admire further classical treasures. In the afternoon, transfer to Athens Airport for your onward journey. Please note that visiting hours at the museum may require adjustments to the itinerary. The estimated arrival time at the airport is 4.00 pm - please schedule your departure flight accordingly.
