Itinerary
Day 1 - Exploring Ahmedabad
Arrive in Ahmedabad. We meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. Hotel check in is from 12:00 – early check in is subject to availability and can be confirmed in advance at an additional cost.
We begin with Sabarmati Ashram, Gandhi’s former home and an important base for India’s independence movement. We then explore Jama Masjid and its surrounding lanes, before visiting the Sidi Saiyyed Mosque to view the celebrated Sidi Saiyyed Jali, an intricate stone lattice. We continue to Adalaj Stepwell, noted for its detailed carvings, and finish at Bhadra Fort, a 15th century complex that reflects the city’s early history. Return to your hotel for a restful night. Overnight in Ahmedabad.
Day 2 - Journey to Bhavnagar
Ahmedabad – Bhavnagar (175 km – approximately 4 hours). After breakfast, we drive to Bhavnagar via Lothal and visit the archaeological site of this ancient Harappan port town.
On arrival in Bhavnagar, we visit Takhteshwar Temple for wide city views, take in the heritage ambience of Nilambag Palace, browse the collections at Barton Library, and call at the Gandhi Museum for insights into his philosophy of non–violence and Satyagraha. You can also explore the local markets for spices, textiles and handicrafts. Overnight in Bhavnagar.
Day 3 - Sasan Gir National Park Safari
After breakfast we drive from Bhavnagar to Sasan Gir National Park – about 225 kilometres – a journey of roughly five hours. On arrival we check in to our lodge, then head out on a wildlife safari through the park. We keep a lookout for Asiatic lions, leopards, deer and gazelles in their natural habitat. We return to the lodge to unwind in the evening. You may choose to visit nearby villages for a glimpse of rural life in Gujarat. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 4 - Sasan Gir National Park Safari
At Sasan Gir, we set out at first light for a morning safari, when wildlife is most active. We return to the lodge to rest and refuel — lunch is included — then head back into the park for a late afternoon safari as animals reappear after the heat of the day. Between drives, you can unwind at the lodge or visit nearby villages to glimpse local life. Dinner is included and we overnight at the resort or lodge.
Day 5 - Journey to Rajkot
We drive from Sasan Gir to Rajkot via Junagadh and Gondal – around 160 km, taking about 3 hours. On arrival, we explore the Watson Museum, with artefacts and exhibits charting the city’s past. We continue to Kaba Gandhi No Delo – Mahatma Gandhi’s ancestral home – now a museum and memorial. We then visit the Rotary Dolls Museum, showcasing intricately crafted dolls from around the world. You have the evening at leisure – browse local markets or unwind at your hotel. Overnight in Rajkot.
Day 6 - Rajkot to Ahmedabad
We enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then drive from Rajkot to Ahmedabad – approximately 225 kilometres, around five hours. On arrival in Ahmedabad, our representative assists with your transfer to the airport – marking the end of your journey through Gujarat.
