Day 1 - Bagdogra to Darjeeling
On arrival at Bagdogra Airport, we meet you and drive 62 km – around 2 hours – to Darjeeling, following winding roads through lush greenery and hillside villages.
We check you into your hotel so you can settle in and take in Darjeeling’s Victorian charm and far‑reaching Himalayan views. In the evening, you can take a leisurely stroll along Mall Road, lined with shops selling local handicrafts and souvenirs, before returning for an overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2 - Tiger Hill Sunrise & Exploring Darjeeling
We set out before dawn for Tiger Hill to watch the sunrise over the Himalayas, then visit Ghoom Monastery – one of Darjeeling’s oldest – to see the statue of Maitreya Buddha. After breakfast, we visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and the adjacent Zoological Park, home to rare Himalayan species including the snow leopard. We then board the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway – the Toy Train – for a scenic ride through hillside villages and tea country.
In the afternoon, we explore the Tibetan Refugee Centre to learn about local craftsmanship and walk through the tea gardens of the Happy Valley Tea Estate. We also visit the Choling and Darli monasteries, and finish the day with a relaxed stroll through the local markets. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3 - Darjeeling to Pelling
After breakfast, we drive from Darjeeling to Pelling – about 75 km – taking roughly three hours through mountain scenery and terraced fields. On arrival, we check in and relax.
Later, we visit Pemayangtse Monastery, perched on a hill with broad views of the surrounding valleys. We then explore the Rabdentse ruins, once the capital of the former Kingdom of Sikkim, before continuing to the sacred Tashiding Monastery. We finish the day at Rimbi Waterfalls – you can cool off with a dip if you wish – then return to the hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 4 - Pelling to Gangtok
After breakfast we drive 120 km – around 4 hours – from Pelling to Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, travelling through verdant valleys and past cascading waterfalls. On arrival we check in to the hotel.
The rest of the day is at leisure. You can explore the lively streets and markets at your own pace or simply relax and enjoy views of snowy peaks and the city. Overnight at hotel.
Day 5 - Exploring Gangtok
We explore Gangtok on a guided city tour. We begin at Rumtek Monastery, then pause at Bakthang Waterfall. We continue to Tashi Viewpoint for wide Himalayan vistas before paying our respects at Ganesh Tok. We visit the historic Enchey Monastery and the Directorate of Handicraft and Handloom to see local artisans at work; you can pick up quality souvenirs here. We end the day with a relaxed stroll along The Mall – Gangtok’s lively central promenade – where you can sample local delicacies, before we return to the hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 6 - Gangtok to Kalimpong
After breakfast, we leave Gangtok for Kalimpong – a 75 km drive of around 2 hours via mountain villages and green valleys.
On arrival we check in, then explore the town: MacFarlane Memorial Church, a Gothic landmark from the colonial era; Dr Graham’s Homes, an educational institution founded by a Scottish missionary; and Durpin Monastery on Durpin Hill with its panoramic views. We continue to Deolo Park, the largest recreational space in Kalimpong, for broad Himalayan vistas, before visiting Thongsa Gompa – one of the town’s oldest monasteries – and Zong Dog Palri Fo–Brang Gompa, known for its spiritual significance and striking architecture. Overnight at hotel.
Day 7 - Return to Bagdogra
After breakfast, we check out and drive from Kalimpong to Bagdogra – about 75 kilometres, taking roughly two hours through the hills. On arrival, we transfer you to Bagdogra airport for your onward journey, carrying with you lasting memories of the Eastern Himalayas.
