Set off from Hyderabad and return there over seven days on a culture rich loop through Karnataka. In Hyderabad you’ll visit Golconda Fort, the Charminar and the grand Mecca Masjid – with time for Laad Bazaar and legendary biryani. You’ll then head to Badami to explore its cave temples, with side trips to Pattadakal and Aihole – expect to see exquisite Chalukyan artistry. En route to Hampi you’ll pause at Gadag and Lakkundi for ornate temples and step wells. Two days in Hampi reveal World Heritage wonders – Virupaksha and Vithala, the stone chariot, Lotus Mahal and Elephant Stables – plus big sky sunsets over boulder strewn hills.

Day 1 - Hyderabad
Hyderabad Upon arrival at Hyderabad airport, we will greet you, assist with your luggage and transfer you to your hotel for check in. Settle in and take in the city’s blend of historic heritage and modern life.The rest of the day is at leisure – you can explore the neighbourhood, browse the colourful bangles at Laad Bazaar, or try classic Hyderabadi flavours at well-known spots such as Paradise Biryani.Overnight at your hotel.
Day 2 - Hyderabad
After breakfast, we set out to explore Hyderabad’s storied past. We begin at Golconda Fort – walk its grand ramparts, gateways and vantage points for sweeping views of the city. We then continue to the Qutb Shahi Tombs, where the mausoleums of the former rulers showcase elegant Indo–Islamic design. Next, we visit the Charminar, the city’s defining landmark, before you browse the lively bazaars around it, try local street snacks and shop for traditional bangles and handicrafts. We pause at the nearby Mecca Masjid – one of the largest mosques in India – to appreciate its scale and calm. We conclude at the Salar Jung Museum, exploring its wide collection of art, artefacts and manuscripts from India and beyond. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 3 - Hyderabad
Hyderabad – Badami – 430 km/8 hours approx. After breakfast, we set off on a scenic drive to Badami, passing rural villages and changing Karnataka landscapes. On arrival, we check in to your hotel and you can unwind with views of Agastya Lake and the surrounding sandstone hills. In the evening, you can explore the local markets and pick up traditional handicrafts and souvenirs. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 4 - Badami
After breakfast in Badami, we set out to the Badami Cave Temples, hewn into the cliffs and filled with finely carved depictions of Hindu deities from the 6th century. We then continue to the Mahakuta group of temples, a serene Shiva complex with sacred water tanks. Next, we drive to Pattadakal – a UNESCO World Heritage site – to walk its temple ensemble showcasing a blend of Dravidian and Nagara styles that typify Chalukyan architecture. We round off the day in Aihole, often called the cradle of Indian architecture, where a wide range of early medieval temples illustrates the evolution of temple design. We return to your hotel in Badami for the night.
Day 5 - Badami - Gadag - Lakkundi - Hampi - Kalaburagi Division
Badami – Gadag – Lakkundi – Hampi. We drive 180 km – around 4 hours – stopping in Gadag to visit the Trikuteshwara Temple and Veeranarayana Temple, then continue to Lakkundi to see stepwells such as Musukina Bavi, noted for ornate sculpture. On arrival in Hampi – a UNESCO World Heritage site – we check in at your hotel and you can unwind with views of the landscape strewn with boulders and the Tungabhadra River. As evening approaches, we head to Hemkuta Hill for sunset views over Hampi and Virupaksha Temple. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 6 - Hampi
Hampi After breakfast, we set out to explore Hampi’s key monuments. We begin at Virupaksha Temple, then continue to the Vithala Temple complex to see the stone chariot and musical pillars. We visit the Lotus Mahal and the Hazara Rama Temple, noted for bas–reliefs from the Ramayana. At Hampi Bazaar we take a short break to experience the bustle – you can browse for handicrafts or try local snacks. We then explore Achyutaraya Temple before visiting the Elephant Stables, and conclude at the Underground Shiva Temple. We return to the hotel for overnight.
Day 7 - Hampi - Hyderabad
After a relaxed breakfast in Hampi, we drive to Hyderabad – approximately 380 kilometres, around 7 hours by road. On arrival in Hyderabad, your South India journey concludes.
