Itinerary
Day 1 - Guwahati - Kaziranga National Park
On arrival at Guwahati or Jorhat airport, we meet you and drive to Kaziranga National Park – about 200 km and approximately 4 hours. On arrival we check in at the resort.
The rest of the day is free – you can unwind and relax after the journey. Dinner is included and you stay overnight at the resort.
Day 2 - Kaziranga National Park
Kaziranga National Park. We set out at first light for a jeep safari in the Central Range, then continue by jeep to the Eastern Range. After returning to the resort for lunch, we head back out for an afternoon jeep safari in the Western Range. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included – overnight at the resort.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kaziranga hosts around two-thirds of the world’s great one-horned rhinoceroses and has one of the highest tiger densities in any protected area – it has been a Tiger Reserve since 2006. The park also supports large breeding populations of elephants, wild water buffalo and swamp deer, and is recognised by BirdLife International as an Important Bird Area. Set on the edge of the Eastern Himalaya biodiversity hotspot, its landscapes span tall elephant grass, marshes and moist broadleaf forest, interlaced with rivers including the Brahmaputra and numerous small waterbodies.
Please note that jeep safaris and forest entry are regulated by the Forest Department, Government of Assam – safari seat allocation and jeep entry are beyond our control.
Day 3 - Kaziranga National Park - Guwahati
We start with an early morning jungle safari in Kaziranga National Park for wildlife viewing, then return to the resort for breakfast. After breakfast we head out on a second jeep safari into either the Central or Western Range, before returning to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon we drive to Guwahati – about 200 kilometres and roughly 4 hours – and check in at the hotel. In the evening we take a sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra River. Overnight in Guwahati.
Day 4 - Guwahati
After breakfast at the hotel in Guwahati, we visit Kamakhya Temple – one of India’s most revered Shakti shrines and a principal Shakti Peetha linked to the legend of Shiva and Daksha Yajna. We continue to Navagraha Temple – dedicated to the nine planets and a centre for astrological and astronomical study. We then visit Umananda Island – a small Brahmaputra river island that houses Umananda Temple, a Shiva shrine built by an Ahom king. Later, we transfer you to Guwahati airport for your onward flight.
