Patan, Dholavira & Little Rann

Morning pick-up from your hotel or Ahmedabad airport, then we set off on the scenic drive to Dholavira, 385 km – around 8 hours – via Modhera and Patan. En route, we visit the Modhera Sun Temple, dedicated to Surya, to appreciate its intricate carvings and impressive architecture. We continue to Patan to explore Rani ki Vav – a UNESCO World Heritage stepwell famed for its sculpted panels – and the Panchasara Jain Temple with its finely worked pillars, domes and sculptures.By evening we arrive in Dholavira and check in. You can relax after the journey. We round off the day with dinner featuring local flavours and specialities. Overnight at the resort.

After breakfast, we explore Dholavira, an Indus Valley site. We walk through the citadel, marketplace and reservoirs, noting the city’s planning and sophisticated water management. We view excavated artefacts – painted pottery, terracotta ornaments and stone sculptures – that offer clear insight into Harappan life and craftsmanship.We then drive 255 km – approximately 5 hours – to the Little Rann of Kutch, travelling through a landscape of salt marshes, arid plains and scattered shrubs. On arrival we check in and enjoy lunch featuring traditional Gujarati cuisine.The rest of the day is at leisure – you can take an unhurried stroll around the property to appreciate the Rann’s quiet setting and look for indigenous flora and fauna adapted to the desert environment.Overnight at the resort.

Little Rann of Kutch – Ahmedabad (140 km/3 hrs approx) We start early with a guided safari across the Little Rann, keeping watch for the Asiatic wild ass as well as desert foxes, Indian gazelles and migratory birds, and noting the hardy, salt‑tolerant plants that define this desert landscape. After the safari, we depart for Ahmedabad – a road journey of around three hours.
