Itinerary
Day 1 - Delhi
On arrival at Delhi International Airport, we’ll meet you and assist before transferring you to your hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is free – you can relax and unwind after your journey. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2 - Exploring Old & New Delhi
After breakfast at the hotel, we set out on a full day tour of Old Delhi. We visit the Red Fort – residence of the Mughal emperors for nearly 200 years until 1857 – and Jama Masjid, one of the world’s largest mosques built by Shah Jahan. We take a cycle rickshaw through Chandni Chowk and Khari Baoli Spice Market, a bustling area of spices, dried fruit, silver jewellery and vivid saris, with narrow lanes of tiny shops selling essential oils, stationery and traditional Indian sweets. We also stop at Raj Ghat, the memorial marking Mahatma Gandhi’s cremation.
In New Delhi, we visit Humayun’s Tomb – the subcontinent’s first garden tomb, commissioned in 1569–70 by Empress Bega Begum – and Qutab Minar, a 73 metres tall minaret within the Qutb complex, noted for its Afghan architectural style. We continue to the Lotus Temple, a Bahá’í House of Worship famed for its flower-like design and open to all. We then drive through the government district, passing the President’s House, Parliament and India Gate. The remainder of the day is free for you to relax or pursue personal activities. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 3 - Delhi to Agra & Taj Mahal
After breakfast, we drive from Delhi to Agra – about 204 km, taking approximately four hours – and check in at the hotel. Later, we visit the Taj Mahal, the ivory white marble mausoleum on the bank of the Yamuna commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal – it also houses Shah Jahan’s own tomb. We then explore Agra Fort, the main residence of the Mughal emperors until 1638 when the capital moved to Delhi, followed by the Tomb of Itmad–ud–Daula, commissioned by Nur Jahan for her father, Mirza Ghiyas Beg. You have free time to wander the local market before we return to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 4 - Fatehpur Sikri & Ranthambore National Park
After breakfast we drive from Agra to Ranthambore National Park – about 245 km, around five hours – stopping en route at Fatehpur Sikri, the 16th century Mughal capital founded by Emperor Akbar in 1569 and abandoned after 15 years due to water scarcity. We explore its red sandstone landmarks, including Diwan i Khas, Jodha Bai’s Palace, Jama Masjid, the Tomb of Salim Chishti, Panch Mahal and Buland Darwaza.
We continue to Ranthambore and check in at the hotel. After lunch we visit Ranthambore Fort, built by the Chauhan rulers in the 10th century. Known for its strategic location, the fort is associated with the legend of jauhar during Alauddin Khilji’s siege in 1303 and features temples, tanks, massive gates and huge walls. You then have time at leisure to relax. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 5 - Ranthambore National Park Safaris
We set out for two game drives in Ranthambore National Park – early morning and again in the late afternoon, when wildlife is typically most active. This renowned Tiger Reserve sits at the meeting point of the Aravalli and Vindhya ranges and was once the private game reserve of Jaipur’s royal family. The terrain mixes rocky ridges with meadows, lakes and rivulets, creating habitat for an impressive range of species. As well as the elusive Bengal tiger, you may encounter sloth bear, leopard, caracal, jackal, fox, hyena and mongoose. Herds of chital and sambhar deer, the blue bull antelope, rhesus macaques and langurs are common sights, while birdlife is prolific – from king vulture and serpent eagle to crocodiles basking along the water’s edge. The 10th‑century Ranthambore Fort dominates the landscape, with cenotaphs, ruins and abandoned settlements in the valleys adding to the park’s distinctive character.
Between drives you can relax at the hotel and enjoy some downtime before heading back into the park. Overnight at hotel.
Day 6 - Ranthambore to Jaipur
Ranthambore – Jaipur (145 kilometres – 3 hours approx). After breakfast at the hotel, we set out on a morning safari in Ranthambore National Park.
After lunch we check out of the resort and drive to Jaipur, then check in at the hotel. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore the Pink City and its colourful bazaars at your own pace. You can also visit the Albert Hall Museum, whose design and name were inspired by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London; its collections include metalwork, woodcraft, carpets, stone and metal sculpture, arms and weapons, natural stones and ivory pieces, along with miniatures from the Bundi, Kota, Kishangarh, Udaipur and Jaipur schools of art. Overnight at hotel.
Day 7 - Jaipur, Amber Fort & Aarti Ceremony
After breakfast we set out to explore Jaipur – India’s first planned city, established in 1727 by Maharaja Jai Singh II using Vastu principles. In 1876 the city was painted pink to welcome the Prince of Wales, a gesture that gave Jaipur its enduring nickname, the Pink City.
This morning we visit Amber Fort and Jaigarh Fort, followed by Sisodia Rani Garden. In the afternoon we tour the City Palace, the Observatory and Hawa Mahal. Later you can wander the famous bazaars to browse textiles, jewellery and handicrafts at your own pace.
In the evening we attend the aarti ceremony at Birla Temple. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 8 - Jaipur to Mandawa
After breakfast, we drive from Jaipur to Mandawa – about 170 kilometres, roughly 3 hours – and check in on arrival. Later, we visit Mandawa Fort and several beautiful frescoed havelis once owned by the city’s elite, taking time to admire their elaborate facades and learn about their history. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 9 - Mandawa to Delhi
After breakfast in Mandawa, the morning is free to relax – you can visit more havelis with your driver if you wish. In the afternoon we drive around 250 km – approximately five hours – back to Delhi for a direct drop off at the airport for your onward flight.
