
Bali and Gili Highlights
Travel from Bali's beaches to its temples, rice terraces and volcanic highlands on this 12-day tour, ending with island time on Gili Trawangan. From Legian, the route heads south to the clifftop Uluwatu Temple and the sea temple of Tanah Lot, before continuing to Ubud. Days based in Ubud take in the Monkey Forest, the holy spring temple of Tirta Empul and views over Mount Batur, along with the Mother Temple at Besakih, Goa Lawah's bat-filled cave, Taman Ayun and the terraced fields at Jatiluwih. A speedboat crossing then brings travellers to Gili Trawangan for several days by the sea, before the return to Legian ahead of departure.

Day 1 - Arrival in Bali
Upon arrival at Bali Airport, you will be greeted by your local guide and transferred to your accommodation in Legian. After check-in, the remainder of the day is yours to relax and settle in at your own pace. Overnight stay in Legian.
Day 2 - Temples of the South
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and begin the day with a drive to the southern coast to visit Uluwatu Temple. Perched approximately 70 metres above the Indian Ocean, the temple offers dramatic views of waves crashing against the cliffs below.
We then enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to Tanah Lot Temple, set on a large rock surrounded by the sea. This 16th-century temple, built by the Javanese priest Danghyang Nirartha, is a renowned spot to relax and, weather permitting, watch the sunset. Afterwards, we drive to Ubud for check-in at your hotel, where you will stay overnight.
Day 3 - Ubud's Sacred Sites and Craft Villages
After breakfast, we drive to Batubulan village to enjoy the Barong and Kris dance performance, a traditional Balinese theatrical show. Next, we visit the nearby art villages of Celuk, Batuan and Mas, where you can see skilled artisans at work in gold and silver crafting, hand weaving, woodcarving and painting.
We then explore the Ubud Monkey Forest, home to a lively troop of macaques within a sacred sanctuary. Afterwards, we continue to Tampak Siring to visit Tirta Empul, a temple famous for its holy spring water used in purification rituals. The tour proceeds to Kintamani, where you can admire the impressive views of the still-active Mount Batur volcano and Lake Batur. Lunch is served at a local restaurant before we return to the hotel in Ubud for the evening.
Day 4 - Bali's Mother Temple and Traditional Villages
After breakfast, we visit Penglipuran village to experience its distinctive traditional rural lifestyle and community culture. Next, we travel to Besakih, known as Bali’s ‘Mother Temple’.
This extensive complex comprises 30 temples arranged across seven terraced levels on the mountainside. We pause for lunch at a local restaurant before heading to Goa Lawah Temple, also called the ‘Bat Cave’, where thousands of bats cling to the cave’s rim. We return to Ubud for an overnight stay.
Day 5 - Rice Terraces and Mountain Temples
After breakfast, we begin the day with a visit to Taman Ayun Temple, a beautiful site dating back to the Royal Mengwi Dynasty. From there, we continue to Bedugul, located on the shores of Lake Beratan, where you can enjoy the cool mountain air and take in the striking views of Ulun Danu Temple.
Lunch will be served at a local restaurant nearby. Following this, we stop at a local market offering fresh fruits and vegetables. The afternoon includes a visit to the impressive Jatiluwih rice terraces, renowned for their expansive, verdant landscapes. We conclude the day with a visit to Pura Luhur Batukaru, situated on the slopes of Mount Batukaru, before returning to your hotel in Ubud for the night.
Day 6 - Free Day in Ubud
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a full day at your leisure in Ubud. This is an ideal opportunity to explore the town’s vibrant markets, visit local cafés, or simply relax and soak up the tranquil surroundings. Overnight in Ubud.
Day 7 - Crossing to Gili Trawangan
After breakfast, we will collect you at the agreed time for the transfer to Padang Bai, where you will board a speedboat to Gili Trawangan. Upon arrival, a local horse-drawn carriage, known as a ‘Cidomo’, will take you directly to your hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to relax and explore at your leisure. Overnight in Gili Trawangan.
Days 8-10 - Days at leisure
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy three at your leisure on Gili Trawangan. This is an ideal opportunity to relax on the beach, explore the island at your own pace, or try optional activities such as cycling, snorkelling, or visiting local markets. Overnight accommodation remains on Gili Trawangan.
Day 11 - Return to Legian
After breakfast, check out and take a ‘Cidomo’ horse cart to the harbour for the speedboat back to Padang Bay. Upon arrival, join a shared transfer to your hotel in Legian. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to relax or explore. Overnight in Legian.
Day 12 - Departure
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and make the most of your room until 6 pm. You have free time to relax or explore at your own pace before your transfer to the airport at the appropriate time for your flight home.
