Day 1 - Amalfi
Upon arrival on the Amalfi Coast, make your own way to the hotel and check in. Transfers from Naples can be arranged as an optional extra. Spend your first day at leisure, taking in the stunning coastal scenery and settling into your surroundings. Overnight on the Amalfi Coast.
Day 2 - Pompeii - Herculaneum - Amalfi
After breakfast, we set off on a small group tour to explore the remarkably preserved archaeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Leaving Amalfi, we travel by coach along the scenic Amalfi Drive, passing charming coastal towns before arriving at Pompeii. Here, you will join a guided two-hour tour of the extensive ruins, once a bustling commercial hub abruptly buried under five metres of ash and lapilli during Mount Vesuvius’s eruption on the night of 24–25 August 79 A.D. You will then have free time for lunch before we continue to Herculaneum. This smaller, coastal town offers a contrasting glimpse into ancient life, having been preserved under volcanic material in a different way to Pompeii. We spend around two hours exploring its excavations. On the return journey, we stop at a renowned cameo workshop, where you can learn about this traditional local craft. We return to the Amalfi Coast for your overnight stay.
Day 3 - Capri - Amalfi
After breakfast, we set off on a scenic cruise along the Amalfi Coast to the Island of Capri. From Maiori port, a shuttle service will take you by Gozzo boat to Praiano pier, where you board the boat for the cruise. Passing Punta Campanella, we approach Capri and circle the island by boat, taking in sights such as the statue of the Scugnizzo, Grotta del Corallo, Grotta Bianca, the Natural Arch, Villa Malaparte, the Faraglioni rock formations, Marina Piccola Bay, Grotta Verde, and the lighthouse at Punta Carena. Following the cruise, you will have four hours of free time to explore Capri’s centre. The Piazzetta, or Piazza Umberto I, is the island’s lively social hub, often called the ‘world’s sitting room’ for its vibrant atmosphere. Later in the afternoon, we cruise back to the mainland, with a stop en route for a swim in the clear waters near Nerano or Positano. Overnight on the Amalfi Coast.
Day 4 - Amalfi
After breakfast, enjoy your final morning on the Amalfi Coast. If time allows, take a last stroll to bid farewell to the town or browse the local shops. Transfers to Naples airport or train station can be arranged as an optional extra to suit your onward travel plans.
