Day 1 - Rome
Upon your arrival in Rome, we'll ensure your seamless transfer to the hotel, where you'll have some time to relax and settle in. Later in the afternoon, you can find details about the commencement of your tour displayed on the boards at the hotel reception. Please be aware that throughout the tour, the group might change, with some travellers joining or leaving at different points along the way, although the group size will always remain within the maximum limit. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Rome
On the morning of our second day in Rome, we will embark on a three-hour guided exploration of the city, often referred to as the Eternal City. Our journey will blend a walking tour of Imperial Rome with a panoramic bus ride through one of history’s great metropolises. As we traverse the city, you'll encounter some of Rome's iconic landmarks, including the impressive Arch of Constantine, the mighty exterior of the Colosseum, and the historic Imperial Forums. We'll pass by the Circus Maximus and the monumental Baths of Caracalla, visit the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, and admire the Pyramid of Cestius and the imposing Castel Sant’Angelo. Our tour will conclude at Vatican City around 11:00 a.m., where you'll have the option to delve deeper into the wonders of the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel under the guidance of an expert. As evening approaches, a transfer will whisk us away to the vibrant district of Trastevere. Known for its inviting restaurants and lively atmosphere, it’s a perfect spot to unwind and savour a meal after a day of exploration. We will return to our hotel by about 8:30 p.m., offering a chance to reflect on the day’s discoveries.
Day 3 - Rome
Today offers you the freedom to explore Rome at your own pace. Take this time to discover more about the city's rich culture, history, and culinary delights. For those seeking adventure beyond Rome, there's an optional excursion available. From April to October, you may choose to visit the enchanting island of Capri, known for its stunning landscapes and charming atmosphere. Alternatively, from November to March, the excursion heads to Naples and Pompeii, offering a chance to explore these fascinating historical sites. Whether you opt for a day of leisure in Rome or venture further afield, a multitude of experiences await you.
Day 4 - Rome - Orvieto - Castiglione del Lago - Siena
Today, we journey through the captivating region of Umbria. Our day begins in Orvieto, a medieval city perched high upon a flat hilltop. Before we venture into the city, we allow ourselves a moment to take in the stunning panoramic views from its vantage point. We ascend via the escalators from the lower part of town to its medieval centre, where we are treated to the sight of the cathedral, a magnificent example of Italian Gothic architecture.We then make our way to Castiglione del Lago, which rests peacefully on the shores of Lake Trasimeno. Here, you have the opportunity to wander through the town at your leisure and enjoy a relaxing lunch. After our time in Castiglione del Lago, we continue our journey to the historic city of Siena in Tuscany. Known for its famed Piazza del Campo and striking Duomo, Siena offers a splendid afternoon of exploration and discovery.
Day 5 - Siena - Monteriggioni - San Gimignano - Florence
As we depart from Siena, our first stop of the day is the enchanting medieval village of Monteriggioni. Here, you can wander through charming cobbled streets and admire its ancient walls that encapsulate centuries of history. We will then journey to San Gimignano, famed for its impressive medieval towers that stand proudly against the sky. After enjoying lunch, our travels continue towards Florence, the beautiful capital of Tuscany. We plan to arrive in the early afternoon, providing you with an excellent opportunity to visit the renowned Uffizi Gallery or the Accademia Gallery, though please note that both are closed on Mondays. Our day will conclude with an authentic traditional Tuscan meal, offering a delightful taste of the region's rich culinary heritage.
Day 6 - Florence
Today begins with a visit to the Michelangelo viewpoint, offering stunning panoramas of Florence. We will then stroll to the heart of this historic city for a guided exploration of Tuscany's capital—one of Italy's most beloved destinations. As the birthplace of the Renaissance, Florence has long inspired legendary figures like Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli, and Raphael. Our tour will showcase architectural marvels such as the Gothic Cathedral (Duomo di Firenze), the iconic Ponte Vecchio lined with goldsmith shops, and Piazza della Signoria—the city's political centre, noted for its medieval town hall. After the guided tour, you'll have the afternoon free to explore at your leisure. We recommend wearing comfortable footwear while discovering the delights of Florence.
Day 7 - Florence - Rome
Today, enjoy your day in Florence with a visit to its renowned museums. We suggest you explore the Gallery of the Academy, which houses Michelangelo's iconic statue of David, or perhaps the Uffizi Gallery, known for its exceptional collection of Renaissance art. In the late afternoon, around 4:30 p.m., we'll set off for Rome, arriving in the evening. Please note that during the winter months, the journey between Florence and Rome may be taken by train.
Day 8 - Rome
Following breakfast on the final day, our tour concludes, leaving you with treasured memories of your adventure.
