Day 1 - Rome
Welcome to Rome! Upon your arrival, we'll ensure your smooth transfer to the hotel. Later, our guide will meet you to share essential information about your stay. You can also find details on the information sign in the hotel reception area. In the evening, we’ll introduce you to Rome with a short visit to Via Cavour. This vibrant area offers a variety of dining options, including Italian, Indian, Chinese, and international cuisine, providing the perfect start to your Roman adventure. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Rome
On the second day, we'll embark on a three-hour panoramic tour of Rome, guided by a local expert. The morning will feature a combination of a bus ride and a walking tour through the heart of Imperial Rome. We'll visit key landmarks such as the Arch of Constantine, the Colosseum's exterior, and the Imperial Forums – a vital political hub in ancient times. The bus tour will also take us past some of Rome's iconic sites, including the Circus Maximus, the Baths of Caracalla, the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, the Pyramid of Cestius, and the Castel Sant’Angelo's exterior.Our tour concludes in Vatican City at approximately 11:00 a.m., a sovereign city-state nestled within Rome and a pivotal centre of the Catholic Church. Following this, there will be an option to delve deeper into the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel with our guide, should you wish to explore further. The remainder of the afternoon is yours to enjoy as you please.As evening descends, we'll whisk you away to the lively Trastevere district, renowned for its inviting restaurants and vibrant atmosphere. We'll return to the hotel around 8:30 p.m.
Day 3 - Rome - Florence
Today, we depart the historic city of Rome and journey northwards through scenic landscapes. Our destination is Florence, where our first stop will be Piazzale Michelangelo, offering spectacular views of the city. From here, we proceed to the captivating historic centre. After a leisurely lunch, we will embark on a guided walking tour led by a local expert. We'll explore landmarks such as the Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo, and Piazza della Signoria, experiencing the essence of Florence, often likened to an open-air museum. You will then have some time to wander and discover the city at your own pace. Come evening, the district boasts a plethora of dining options, allowing you to indulge in a variety of international cuisines that this vibrant area offers.
Day 4 - Florence - Venice
Today, we shall traverse the picturesque Apennine Mountains, taking in the breathtaking views as we travel from Florence to Venice. Upon arrival in this enchanting city, we will board a boat across the Giudecca Canal to the Island of Venice. Once there, with the help of a knowledgeable local guide, we will explore the iconic St. Mark's Square, a remarkable centre of art and history. Our journey continues with a visit to the famed Murano Glass Factory, where you will have the opportunity to witness the exquisite traditional glassmaking techniques that have been perfected over generations. Following this, you will have time at your leisure to delve into the unique charm of Venice at your own pace. Accommodation tonight will be in the Mestre district, a convenient location that allows for further exploration of this stunning city.
Day 5 - Venice - Innsbruck - Zurich
On Day 5, we depart from the enchanting city of Venice, setting our sights on Austria. Upon reaching Innsbruck, you will have some leisurely time to wander through the charming historic town centre and enjoy a relaxing lunch. After this delightful pause, we continue our scenic journey through the picturesque Tyrolean landscapes, eventually crossing into Switzerland and arriving in the vibrant city of Zurich.
Day 6 - Zurich - Lucerne - Zurich
Today's adventure brings us face-to-face with Switzerland's breathtaking landscapes of towering mountains and crystal-clear lakes. We start our day with a visit to the charming region of Interlaken, renowned for its stunning vistas. Our first pause is in Grindelwald, where we'll enjoy a refreshing coffee before ascending the mountain via cable car. This journey offers awe-inspiring views, and at the top, a winding path leads us to a suspended bridge. For the adventurous, crossing the bridge promises unrivalled views of the surrounding glaciers. We'll pause for lunch in this spectacular setting, with the meal included.Following our descent, we head to Lucerne, one of Switzerland's most picturesque cities. You'll have ample time to wander through its enchanting cityscape, perhaps exploring historic landmarks or relaxing by the lake. Concluding our day's journey, we return to Zurich. For those interested, there is an optional morning excursion featuring a rotating cable car ride to Mount Titlis. Standing over 3,000 metres, it offers breathtaking views of the glacier and the majestic peaks of the Alps.
Day 7 - Zurich - Strasbourg - Paris
We will depart from Zurich, making our way towards the French region of Alsace, where we will stop in its charming capital, Strasbourg. Known for its unique blend of French and German influences, Strasbourg boasts a captivating mix of architecture and culture. You will have time to independently explore its cobbled streets, perhaps visiting the iconic Strasbourg Cathedral or strolling along the picturesque canals. After soaking in the city's charm, we will continue our journey to Paris, arriving in the evening, ready for you to discover the magic of the French capital.
Day 8 - Paris
Today, we delve into the rich tapestry of French history as we visit the magnificent Palace of Versailles, famous for its spectacular gardens – although entry to the palace is not included. Upon our return to Paris, we will explore Montmartre, a vibrant bohemian neighbourhood known for its artistic flair, featuring painters, cabarets, and stunning views of the city. To truly capture the essence of Paris, we will embark on a panoramic city tour led by a local guide, showcasing the city's grand boulevards and iconic landmarks. Following the tour, it's time to return to the hotel with the option of attending an evening variety show if you wish.
Day 9 - Paris - Rouen
Today, we begin in the heart of Paris with a visit to the iconic Eiffel Tower. You'll have the opportunity to ascend to the second floor and take in the stunning views of the city (tickets are included). Following this, we will enjoy a relaxing cruise along the River Seine, offering a different perspective of Paris’s charming sites. Your afternoon is free to explore the city at your own pace–perhaps visit a museum, indulge in some shopping, or relax in a café.At around 4:00 p.m., we will depart Paris for Normandy, arriving in the historic city of Rouen. You'll have the evening to wander Rouen’s enchanting streets, steeped in history dating back to Roman times. Admire the city’s medieval architecture and the magnificent Gothic cathedral that dominates the skyline, offering a fascinating blend of historic allure and cultural richness. Please note, if the wait time at the Eiffel Tower is excessive, we may reschedule the visit for a more convenient time or on Sunday.
Day 10 - Rouen - English Channel - Canterbury - London
Today, you'll start the day with a stroll through the historic centre of Rouen, allowing you to soak up the rich medieval architecture and vibrant atmosphere of this charming city. Following this, we will head north through France, where the landscape offers a scenic prelude to our cross-Channel ferry journey. As we reach Canterbury, you'll find yourself in the heart of the religious capital of England, a place steeped in history with its enchanting old town and the famous Canterbury Cathedral. Later, we’ll continue our journey to London. Upon arrival, you’ll have some free time to explore the area around Tower Bridge, one of London’s most iconic symbols, before we proceed to the hotel for the evening.
Day 11 - London
Today, immerse yourself in the vibrant history and culture of London on an informative panoramic tour with a knowledgeable local guide. Highlighting iconic landmarks, you'll see the Houses of Parliament and anticipate the grandeur of Buckingham Palace, where a lucky moment might allow a glimpse of the famed Changing of the Guard. As evening descends, we'll reconvene in the lively neighbourhood of Piccadilly. From there, you'll enjoy a leisurely walk through the vibrant Leicester Square, the dynamic streets of Chinatown, and the bustling area of Soho, known for its diverse entertainment and abundant dining options. Choose from a variety of restaurants for dinner before we return you safely to your hotel.
Day 12 - London - Colchester - Colchester - Volendam Ferry
This morning, our adventure begins with a visit to the British Museum, one of the oldest and most renowned museums globally, showcasing artefacts that span cultures from across the world. After enjoying the museum's treasures, you'll have free time to explore and find lunch. We suggest heading to Camden, a district famed for its vibrant and eclectic street market. It's the perfect place to discover unique finds and enjoy lunch at one of the many quaint restaurants or food stands. By 4:00 p.m., we'll set off for Colchester, heralded as the oldest recorded town in England. Here, we'll take a leisurely stroll through its historic streets, absorbing its rich heritage. Our journey continues to Harwich, where we will board the ferry for an overnight voyage to the Netherlands, staying in comfortable en suite cabins. Please note: As the ferry has a limited number of cabins, adjustments to this itinerary may occur. Alternatives include a journey from London to Amsterdam via a daytime ferry with an overnight stay in Antwerp, or travelling by train or flight to Amsterdam.
Day 13 - Colchester - Volendam Ferry - Volendam - Amsterdam
At approximately 8:00 a.m., we will arrive in Hook of Holland and begin our day with a visit to Volendam, a charming fishing village known for its quaint atmosphere and traditional Dutch culture. Afterwards, we'll continue to Amsterdam, where we will embark on a panoramic tour of the city, showcasing its most renowned landmarks and the distinctiveness of its canals. You will have the opportunity to witness the famous diamond-cutting techniques for which the city is well-known. In the evening, we will arrange a transfer to Rembrandtplein, a vibrant area brimming with restaurants offering diverse international cuisines. It’s situated near the renowned Red Light District, famous for its eclectic nightlife, ensuring an evening filled with exploration and entertainment.
Day 14 - Amsterdam - Hamelin - Berlin
Today, we'll journey from Amsterdam to Germany, with our first stop in the charming town of Hamelin. This delightful German destination is famous for its association with the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, the Pied Piper of Hamelin. As you wander through its picturesque streets, you'll find enchanting shops and captivating architecture that transport you back in time. Following our visit, we'll continue our journey through the German landscape, traversing Marienborn—the former border that once divided East and West Germany until 1990. We'll arrive in Berlin by evening, ready to explore the vibrant German capital.
Day 15 - Berlin
Explore the vibrant heart of Germany with a guided tour through Berlin, an intriguing city steeped in history and culture. Your day begins aboard our comfortable coach, offering a panoramic view of iconic landmarks such as Museum Island, the Television Tower, and the bustling city centre with its main shopping streets.
