Day 2 - Hulhumale - Male - Guraidhoo
We take a short public ferry from Hulhumalé to Malé – the bustling capital – enjoying lagoon views as we cross between islands. We explore key landmarks, including the Friday Mosque, the National Museum and Sultan Park, while learning about Maldivian heritage and daily life. We then continue by local ferry to Guraidhoo in South Malé Atoll, passing small islands and open ocean – with a chance to spot dolphins and soak up the scenery. In the evening you can unwind in the guesthouse garden or wander to the local beach for sunset – a relaxed start to community island life.
Day 3 - Guraidhoo
We snorkel two vibrant coral reefs renowned for their colourful marine life and crystal-clear waters, with our guide supporting beginners and sharing advice on responsible snorkelling. We stroll through the village to discover local life – stepping inside the mosque and pausing at the harbour – before rounding off with a traditional hedika tasting of Maldivian sweet and savoury bites.
Day 4 - Guraidhoo - Maafushi
We take the short local ferry from Guraidhoo to Maafushi – one of the region’s more developed local islands. We continue with an introduction to the Olive Ridley Project to learn about marine turtle conservation, as our guide explains ongoing research efforts and local environmental challenges.

We snorkel a reef known for resident sea turtles and soft coral gardens, with our leader ensuring safe, respectful encounters in line with established guidelines. We drift to a pristine sandbank ringed by turquoise water – you can swim, beachcomb or simply unwind in this quiet natural setting – and we enjoy a picnic lunch. To close the day, we plant a coconut palm to support local environmental initiatives – a small contribution to island sustainability and community greening.
