Sacred Valley Express

We collect you from your hotel in Cusco for a 45 minute drive to Lamay in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where we explore the Sirenachayoq Waterfall. Its Quechua name translates as with little mermaid – a reference to local legends of mermaids in these waters. From the starting point we follow a 20 minute path along vegetation covered trails to the waterfall, which locals regard as having healing properties, and enjoy the calming sound of the water and the surrounding natural scenery. We then continue to Yanahuara to visit a hummingbird garden, a sanctuary dedicated to these iconic birds native to the Americas. Over about one hour we may observe up to eight species, watch their rapid flight and may even have the chance to feed them. After the visit, we transfer you to your accommodation in the Sacred Valley. Overnight in the Sacred Valley.

In the morning, we transfer from your hotel in the Sacred Valley to Chinchero, an Inca town renowned for its traditional textiles and handicrafts. We learn about ancestral weaving techniques, take in panoramic views of the valley and visit the colonial chapel before starting our walk.

From Chinchero, we follow a mostly downhill, scenic route to Urquillos at 2,980 metres, passing areas where Inca terraces, ancient temples and colonial haciendas are still preserved. We pause for a box lunch along the way. At the end of the hike, we transfer you to your hotel in Cusco or back to the Sacred Valley.

The experience lasts around 6–7 hours in total, with approximately 2.5 hours of walking. The hike is of moderate difficulty, covering about 8 km/4.9 miles, starting from Chinchero at 3,670 m/12,040 ft.
