Day 1 - Barcelona
Welcome to your tour in Barcelona. Upon arrival, we will arrange your transfer to the hotel, where you will have some leisure time to unwind and explore the surroundings at your own pace. In the afternoon, please check the boards in the hotel reception for information regarding the start of your tour. Enjoy your first taste of this vibrant city, setting the stage for the adventures that lie ahead. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Barcelona - Girona
Our day begins in the vibrant city of Barcelona, famed for its rich history and remarkable architecture. Nestled along the Mediterranean, Barcelona is a captivating blend of old and new – its vibrant streets tell tales of past Universal Exhibitions and Olympics. In the morning, we set out to explore this fascinating city, renowned for the striking modernist creations of Gaudí and the lively atmosphere of the Ramblas.As evening approaches, we will bid farewell to Barcelona and make our way north into the heart of Catalonia. Our destination is Girona, a city brimming with historical charm. Upon arrival, we embark on a leisurely walk through its historic centre, taking in the colourful facades of its houses, the ancient Jewish quarter, and the impressive cathedral that dominates the skyline. This enchanting blend of history and culture offers a memorable conclusion to our day before settling in for the night.
Day 3 - Girona - Carrieres des Lumieres - Chambery
On our third day, we journey from Girona into the picturesque landscape of Provence, France. Our first stop is the historic town of Arles, a UNESCO World Heritage site filled with reminders of its Roman past. We have the chance to visit the impressive Roman theatre and charming Romanesque churches. Afterward, explore the town at your leisure and perhaps treat yourself to a delightful local lunch. The tour then continues to Carrières des Lumières – an extraordinary underground art installation showcasing mesmerizing displays of art and sound within a former quarry. Come evening, we reach Chambéry, the beautiful capital of the historic Savoy region. This charming medieval city invites you to wander its enchanting streets, dotted with period architecture and a magnificent castle. Note: If tickets for Carrières des Lumières are unavailable due to high demand, we will instead visit the famed Pont du Gard, an ancient Roman aqueduct.
Day 4 - Chambery - Geneva - Gruyeres - Leysin
Today, we travel to Switzerland, starting with a visit to Geneva. Accompanied by our guide, we’ll explore the European headquarters of the United Nations at the Palais des Nations, before strolling through the lovely English Garden to admire its iconic flower clock. We’ll also enjoy the sight of the Jet d’Eau, the tallest fountain in Europe. Our journey continues to the enchanting, fortified village of Gruyères, famous for its world-class cheese. While in the area, we'll visit the Maison Cailler Chocolate Factory, where you can indulge in a delightful tasting experience.Moving on, we journey through breathtaking landscapes, passing idyllic mountain scenery and charming wooden villages until reaching Chillon Castle, elegantly poised on the shores of Lake Geneva. Here, admission is included for a closer look at this historic site. By mid-afternoon, we arrive in Leysin, a quaint holiday village that boasts spectacular views of the Rhône Valley and Mont Blanc. Known for its winter sports and hiking opportunities, Leysin offers a picturesque alpine retreat. Dinner is provided for you to enjoy local cuisine. Please note, depending on availability, accommodation may sometimes be arranged in another charming Swiss town nestled in the Alps, such as Martigny.
Day 5 - Leysin - Interlaken - Lucerne - Zurich
Today, we will immerse ourselves in the breathtaking mountain landscapes of Switzerland, so make sure to bring your winter attire. Our adventure begins with a cable car ride up to Glacier 3000, one of the country's most striking locations, offering snow and ice throughout the year. Here, you have the opportunity to walk across a suspended bridge that links two mountain peaks, wander through the ethereal Ice Cathedral, or have some fun at the Fun Park. We will break our journey in Interlaken for lunch, then continue to the picturesque city of Lucerne, considered one of Switzerland's most beautiful cities. In the evening, we will reach Zurich, where you'll have a bit of time to explore the city centre before we head to our accommodation. Please note that should the Glacier 3000 cable car be closed due to weather conditions or other unforeseeable issues, we will ensure an equally remarkable alternative to enjoy the stunning Alpine scenery.
Day 6 - Zurich - Strasbourg - Paris
We set off from Zurich and make our way to the enchanting Alsace region of France, stopping in its capital, Strasbourg. Here, you’ll have time to explore this beguiling city, which marries French charm with German influences, evident in its architecture and culture. Later, we continue our journey across the French countryside, arriving in Paris by evening. Enjoy some free time to begin experiencing the magic of the City of Light.
Day 7 - Paris
Today, we immerse ourselves in the opulent history of France with a visit to the Palace of Versailles, famed for its splendid gardens, although entry is not included. Upon our return to Paris, we explore Montmartre, a delightful bohemian district celebrated for its artists, painters, and lively cabaret scene. To further experience the allure of Paris, we embark on a panoramic city tour with a knowledgeable local guide, which unveils the city's splendid boulevards and famous landmarks. Following the tour, we return to the hotel. For those interested, there is an optional variety show to enjoy in the evening.
Day 8 - Paris - Rouen
Our day in Paris begins with a visit to the iconic Eiffel Tower, where you'll have access to the second floor—tickets are included for this must-see iron landmark. Following our ascent, we'll unwind on a serene boat cruise along the River Seine, capturing Paris from a different angle. The afternoon is yours to explore at leisure, whether you choose to delve deeper into Parisian streets or discover its hidden gems. At around 4:00 p.m., we'll set off for Normandy, arriving in the historic city of Rouen. Here, you will have time to wander through its ancient streets, appreciating the rich medieval architecture and the magnificent Gothic cathedral, all steeped in a blend of history and culture. If we encounter long wait times at the Eiffel Tower, we may adjust our schedule to ensure your visit is as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
Day 9 - Rouen - English Channel - Canterbury - London
After a leisurely stroll through the historic centre of Rouen this morning, we set off towards Northern France, ready to cross the English Channel by ferry. As we leave the continent behind, we'll head towards Canterbury, the ecclesiastical heart of England, where you can explore the city's charming historic centre. Our journey continues to London, where you'll have some free time around Tower Bridge, one of the city's most recognisable landmarks, before we proceed to our hotel.
Day 10 - London
Delve into the heart of London with a panoramic tour guided by a local expert, highlighting the city's rich cultural and historical tapestry. We will explore iconic landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament, the majestic River Thames and the royal residence of Buckingham Palace. Depending on timing, you might witness the famed spectacle of the Changing of the Guard. The evening beckons us to Piccadilly, where we shall meet and enjoy a stroll through the vibrant locales of Leicester Square, Chinatown, and Soho—areas celebrated for their dynamic nightlife, theatres, and diverse entertainment. With numerous dining options available, you can indulge in a delightful dinner before we reconvene to return to the hotel.
Day 11 - London
Following breakfast, we will visit the British Museum, one of the world's most esteemed institutions, showcasing an incredible array of artefacts from diverse cultures across the globe. As lunchtime approaches, we will head to Camden, renowned for its lively and eclectic market, offering a plethora of items reflecting various cultural influences. The afternoon is yours to explore at your own pace, taking in the unique atmosphere of this vibrant area. As our journey concludes, we're sure you'll depart with a collection of wonderful memories to cherish. Remember to check your flight schedule; should you require an extra night's stay, please arrange accordingly.
