Itinerary
Day 1 - Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Arusha - Tarangire National Park. Arrive in Arusha the day prior to the start of the tour. You will be picked up from your hotel before departing for Tarangire National Park.
We begin our safari journey with a drive south to Tarangire National Park, one of northern Tanzania’s most distinctive wildlife areas. The park is characterised by wide savannahs, seasonal swamps and striking baobab trees that tower over the landscape. Tarangire is particularly famous for its elephant population, with large family groups often seen moving between the river and surrounding plains, especially during the drier months when water sources are limited.
On arrival, we set out on an afternoon game drive to explore the park’s diverse habitats. As we travel through the reserve, we look out for herds of wildebeest and zebras grazing side by side, along with buffalos and a variety of antelope species. The afternoon light is ideal for wildlife viewing and photography, offering an excellent introduction to the rich ecosystems of Tanzania’s national parks.
Day 2 - Transfer to Serengeti National Park
Tarangire National Park - Serengeti National Park. This morning, we travel onwards to our next destination, Serengeti National Park.
We enter one of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife reserves, defined by wide horizons and open grasslands that stretch as far as the eye can see. The Serengeti supports an extraordinary variety of animals, with powerful predators such as cheetahs, leopards and lions relying on the abundance of prey found across the plains.
Our time here takes us into the heart of a landscape shaped by seasonal movement, where vast herds of wildebeest and zebras travel across the ecosystem in one of the world’s most remarkable wildlife migrations, driven by the search for fresh grazing.
Day 3 - Serengeti to Ngorongoro
Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro. Today, we begin before dawn with an early morning game drive, when the landscape is at its most active. The first light of day offers excellent conditions for wildlife viewing, particularly for predators returning from the hunt or still on the move across the plains.
Later in the morning, we pause for brunch before continuing our wildlife exploration with a further game drive. As we travel through changing scenery, we make our way towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, gradually ascending to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.
We arrive at the crater rim in the afternoon, where sweeping views reveal one of Africa’s most remarkable natural formations. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ngorongoro Crater is celebrated for its dramatic setting and the rich concentration of wildlife contained within its vast volcanic caldera.
Day 4 - Ngorongoro Crater & Transfer to Arusha
Ngorongoro - Arusha. After our final breakfast, we rise early and descend the steep crater walls, dropping around 600 metres to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. This dramatic descent takes us into a unique ecosystem, enclosed by towering volcanic slopes.
As we explore the crater floor, we keep watch for the remarkable range of wildlife that thrives in this natural sanctuary. With some luck, we may even spot the rare and endangered black rhino among the grasslands and wetlands of the crater. We will then enjoy brunch near the hippo pool before making our way back to Arusha.
Once we arrive in Arusha, you can make your way to the airport for your onward joruney. Safe travels!
