Itinerary
Day 1 - Bangkok - Phra Nakhon
We will collect you from your hotel in Bangkok at 9:00 to join the group and begin the day’s journey. Our first stop is the Golden Mount (Wat Saket), a temple built outside the old city walls in the late 18th century, offering insight into Bangkok’s historical landscape. Next, we take a stroll through Chinatown, a vibrant multicultural district known for its lively atmosphere and significant Chinese community. From there, we visit Pak Khlong Talat, Bangkok’s largest fresh flower market, where you can admire a wide variety of blooms including roses, orchids and lilies. After lunch, we board a traditional long-tail boat for a tour along the city’s canals—once the main thoroughfares for local travel. We arrive at Baan Silapin, the Artist’s House, a 200-year-old canal-side home where we watch a traditional puppeteer performance. The surrounding boardwalk is lined with small shops and eateries, reflecting the area’s charm. Later, we continue by road to Kanchanaburi, stopping at Nakhon Pathom to visit Phra Pathom Chedi, the world’s tallest stupa at 127 metres. Dinner is at your leisure before an overnight stay in Kanchanaburi.
Day 2 - Kanchanaburi - Ayutthaya - Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District
After breakfast, we set off to explore key sites linked to the Second World War, beginning with the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, a solemn tribute to those who lost their lives during the construction of the Thailand-Burma Railway. We then visit the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre, which offers detailed insights into this historic and challenging period. Next, we see the iconic iron bridge spanning the River Kwai, a symbol of resilience and remembrance. Following lunch, we continue to Ayutthaya, the former capital of Siam from the 16th century. Here, we visit the Ayutthaya Floating Market, set on a large pond with an island at its centre. The market features around 50 paddleboats and over 200 shops, preserving the traditional lifestyle of the Ayutthaya era while offering a vibrant shopping and sightseeing experience. We stay overnight in Ayutthaya.
Day 3 - Ayutthaya - Nakhon Nayok - Bangkok - Phra Nakhon
After breakfast, we travel by tuk-tuk to explore some of Ayutthaya’s most significant temples and ruins, including Wat Phra Si Sanphet, Viharn Phra Mongkol Bophit, and the iconic Buddha head entwined in tree roots at Wat Phra Mahathat. After capturing these remarkable sights, we continue to Nakhon Nayok province for a traditional water buffalo cart tour, a glimpse into past rural life. Before lunch, you can join a hands-on Thai cooking session with local chefs or simply enjoy an introduction to authentic Thai cuisine in English. We then savour the meal you’ve helped prepare in a simple garden setting. Afterwards, we visit Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam, the longest dam in Thailand, followed by a stop at a Royal Project site dedicated to sustainable farming under King Bhumibol’s patronage, where you can observe rice planting in progress. We finish with coffee, tea and fresh fruit before returning to central Bangkok. Breakfast and lunch are included.
