Day 1 - San Jose
Welcome to Costa Rica. Upon arrival at the airport, our representative will meet you, assist with your luggage, and provide a private transfer to your hotel in San José. Settle in and relax after your journey. Overnight stay in San José.
Day 2 - San Jose
After breakfast at the hotel, join our Classic Coffee Tour led by an expert guide who will take you through the entire coffee production process. Begin in the nursery and follow the beans as they grow, are carefully harvested, and selected for quality. Experience the aromas of the roasting process and learn how different techniques influence the flavour of the brew. Discover the roasting and packing methods that ensure the finest coffee travels from the Costa Rican plantation to your cup. You will also learn the professional art of “cupping” – tasting coffee to identify and grade its characteristics. The tour concludes in a lush outdoor setting with traditional music, where you may choose to enjoy a buffet lunch featuring local ingredients at Don Prospero Restaurant (not included). Day 3 - San Jose
In the morning, we will collect you from your hotel for the transfer to Tortuguero, a renowned conservation area on the northern Caribbean coast. Breakfast is included en route. Upon arrival at the dock, you will board a boat to reach your lodge in Tortuguero. Around midday, enjoy a freshly prepared lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, explore the extensive network of canals, lagoons and rainforests on a guided boat tour led by an expert naturalist. Tortuguero is home to a remarkable variety of wildlife, including numerous species of amphibians, reptiles and mammals. In the evening, savour dinner at the lodge before settling in for the night.
Day 4 - Tortuguero
We begin mid-morning with a guided walk along the trails of Tortuguero’s tropical rainforest, exploring its rich flora and fauna. In the afternoon, visit the charming village of Tortuguero, a small community of around 500 residents with no cars, situated on a narrow strip of land between the beach and a canal. Here, you can immerse yourself in Caribbean culture by strolling through the colourful streets and getting to know the local way of life. Overnight in Tortuguero.
Day 5 - Tortuguero
After breakfast at the hotel, we will assist you with checkout before beginning your journey onward. A shared transfer by boat and road will take you from Tortuguero to a restaurant in Guapiles, where lunch is included. Following the meal, you will be transferred to La Fortuna, renowned for the impressive Arenal Volcano and its stunning natural surroundings. The afternoon is yours to relax and enjoy the hotel facilities at your leisure. Overnight in Arenal.
Day 6 - San Carlos
After breakfast, we set out on a hike around the base and slopes of Arenal Volcano within Arenal 1968 Park. Your expert guide will share insights into the volcano’s history, its periods of activity, and point out notable landmarks formed over the years. The walk lasts around two hours and covers between one and three kilometres, depending on the chosen trails, with a moderate level of difficulty. Following the hike, we delve into the world of chocolate with a hands-on experience exploring its ancient origins and cultural significance in tropical America. You will participate in the entire process—from harvesting and drying cacao pods to grinding the seeds and preparing the traditional ancestral drink—before sampling high-quality organic chocolate. Overnight in Arenal.
Day 7 - Monteverde
After breakfast, check out of your hotel and prepare to travel to Monteverde, renowned for its cloud forest. This journey combines a shared transfer and a scenic boat ride, offering a comfortable and efficient route from La Fortuna to Monteverde. You will board a pontoon boat for a 30 to 40-minute crossing to Río Chiquito, a small town on the opposite side of the lake. Upon arrival, there will be a short break to stretch your legs before continuing by bus for approximately 1.5 hours to your hotel in the Monteverde area. Please note that during the rainy season, travel times may be longer. The total transfer duration is around 3.5 hours. The afternoon is yours to relax and explore at your leisure. Day 8 - Monteverde
After breakfast, we spend the morning at Selvatura Park, where you can explore the cloud forest from above via a series of suspension bridges and platforms. This safe and accessible walk offers a unique perspective on the forest canopy and its diverse ecosystem. The afternoon is yours to relax at leisure. Overnight in Monteverde.
Day 9 - Monteverde
After breakfast and check-out, we transfer you to the beach area of Manuel Antonio on the Central Pacific Coast. The remainder of the day is yours to relax and enjoy the hotel facilities at your leisure. Overnight in Manuel Antonio.
Day 10 - Quepos
Breakfast is included at the hotel. Spend the day at your leisure, enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the Manuel Antonio area. This is a perfect opportunity to relax and soak up the atmosphere of this stunning coastal region. Overnight in Manuel Antonio.
Day 11 - Quepos
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a full day at your leisure in the beautiful Manuel Antonio area. Take the opportunity to relax and explore this vibrant region at your own pace. Overnight in Manuel Antonio.
Day 12 - Manuel Antonio
There will be a private transfer arranged from your hotel to Juan Santamaría International Airport for your departure flight home.
