Day 1 - San Jose - Tortuguero
We depart early from your hotel in San Jose at around 6:00 am for a shared transfer to Tortuguero. Along the way, we stop for breakfast before continuing to the dock to board a boat that will take us to the lodge. Here, you can relax and unwind in a peaceful, tranquil setting. After lunch at the lodge, we set out on a guided expedition through the Tortuguero Canals – a highlight of the region. As we navigate the lagoons and narrower canals deeper into the forest, you’ll have the chance to observe abundant wildlife up close. We return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay in Tortuguero.
Day 2 - Tortuguero
After a hearty breakfast, we set out on a guided nature walk along the lodge’s private tropical trails. Your guide will help you spot local wildlife, including reptiles, birds and the region’s abundant monkeys, while explaining the rich vegetation that thrives here. Following lunch at the lodge, you will visit the charming village of Tortuguero. This small community of around 500 residents has no cars and is nestled on a narrow strip of land between the beach and a canal. Take time to explore on foot, experiencing the vibrant Caribbean culture and local way of life. We return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay in Tortuguero.
Day 3 - Tortuguero - San Jose
After breakfast at the lodge, we begin the journey back to San Jose with a shared transfer by boat and road. We stop for lunch at a restaurant in Guapiles before continuing to the city, where you will arrive around 3:00 pm.
