Itinerary
Day 1 - Nairobi to Lake Nakuru

Nairobi - Lake Nakuru National Park. We will meet you on arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and drive straight to Lake Nakuru National Park. Arrive in time for a hot lunch at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge or similar.
In the afternoon we explore the park on a game drive, searching for warthog, waterbuck, buffalo and reedbuck, with a chance of encountering leopard. Lake Nakuru is home to both black and white rhino – you may spot white rhino in the southern section – and remains an ornithologists’ delight with more than 400 bird species recorded. Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge or similar.
Day 2 - Nakuru to the Mara

Lake Nakuru National Park - Masai Mara. Leave Lake Nakuru for the Masai Mara via Lake Naivasha. In the Mara, game viewing is best in the early morning and late afternoon, and we plan our drives around these peak hours to maximise sightings across 1,510 square kilometres of open plains and riverine woodland along the Mara and Talek rivers.
Wildlife is prolific – look out for giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, impala and wildebeest, with elephants, buffalo, zebra and hippos also in strong numbers. From July to August, millions of wildebeest move north from the Serengeti before returning south around October. As evening approaches, you can capture the Mara’s orange‑tinted sunset – perhaps with a sundowner back at the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Sopa Lodge Mara or similar.
Day 3 - Full-Day Masai Mara Game Drive

We set out early for a morning game drive, returning to the lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, we spend the day exploring Masai Mara National Reserve’s exceptional concentration of wildlife, keeping watch for the big predators. The open plains hold large herds of grazing animals, while cheetah and leopard may be found resting in the acacia. We pause for a picnic lunch inside the reserve by the Mara River, then continue our game viewing through the afternoon. We return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4 - Masai Mara to the Serengeti

Masai Mara - Serengeti National Park (Tanzania). After breakfast, we depart the Masai Mara for Serengeti National Park – an overland journey of up to eight hours on rough roads. The Serengeti is Tanzania’s most famous and largest national park, covering 14,763 square kilometres of protected land that borders Kenya’s Masai Mara. Its open grasslands and granite kopjes support an exceptionally rich ecosystem.
On arrival, we enjoy an en route game drive in the Serengeti before continuing to the camp. Dinner and overnight at Osinon Tented Camp or similar.
Day 5 - Full-Day Serengeti Game Drive

We spend the day on game drives in Serengeti National Park – Tanzania’s oldest and most recognised – renowned for expansive wildlife viewing. We set out early to explore the plains, searching for impala and other grazing herds, while keeping an eye out for predators such as leopard, cheetah, lion and wild dog that may be hunting. Dinner and overnight at Osinon Tented Camp or similar.
Day 6 - Olduvai Gorge & Ngorongoro Crater

Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro Crater. We leave the Serengeti with packed picnic lunches and travel via Olduvai Gorge – often described as the cradle of humankind – en route to the Ngorongoro Crater.
Frequently called Africa’s Eden and the 8th Natural Wonder of the World, the crater floor supports large herds of zebra and wildebeest, with lions often seen resting in the sun – black rhino are also present. Outside the rim, Masai communities herd cattle and goats along the highland slopes. On arrival, we descend into the crater for game viewing before continuing to your lodge for dinner and overnight – Rhino Lodge or similar.
Day 7 - Return to Kenya & Amboseli National Park

Ngorongoro Crater - Amboseli National Park (Kenya). After breakfast we travel from the Ngorongoro area to Amboseli National Park, crossing the border at Namanga. Amboseli is renowned for its big game – especially elephants, lions and cheetahs – and its striking scenery. The park spans five main wildlife habitats plus the usually dry bed of Lake Amboseli – open plains, extensive yellow barked acacia woodland, rocky lava strewn thornbush, swamps and marshes – and to the west the Ol Doinyo Orok massif rises above Namanga to over 2,760 m (8,300 ft), still largely unexplored in zoological terms. On arrival we transfer to the lodge for dinner and overnight – Serena Lodge or similar.
Day 8 - Return to Nairobi

Amboseli National Park - Nairobi. We begin with an early morning game drive in Amboseli, making the most of the cooler hours when wildlife is most active. After the drive, we travel back to Nairobi by road, arriving around lunchtime. We’ll drop you at your hotel or at the airport.
