Day 1 - Santiago de Compostela to Sarria
Arrive in Santiago de Compostela and make your way to Sarria, the gateway to the final 100 km of the Camino – the minimum distance required to earn the Compostela certificate. This lively medieval town brims with pilgrim spirit and sets the perfect tone for the journey ahead. It’s a day to unwind, soak up the atmosphere, and get ready for the adventure that begins tomorrow.
Day 2 - Sarria to Portomarin
Your pilgrimage begins! This first stretch is a gentle introduction to the Camino, leading you through lush Galician countryside, shaded by chestnut and oak trees. Along the way, you pass through quaint villages like Barbadelo and Ferreiros, and finally reach Portomarín, a historic town whose original centre lies submerged beneath the Belesar Reservoir.

Please note: You must leave your luggage in the lobby at each hotel or hostel by 8 AM. It will be transferred to your next stop, so you won’t need to carry it during the trek.
Day 3 - Portomarin to Palas de Rei
Today you gradually climb into the Sierra de Ligonde, reaching an elevation of 725 metres. It’s a scenic and peaceful walk past ancient churches, traditional “cruzeiros” (stone crosses), and picturesque villages including Castromaior, Ventas de Narón, and Ligonde.

Day 4 - Palas de Rei to Melide
Crossing from Lugo into the province of A Coruna, you journey through forested paths and peaceful countryside. The route takes you through Campo dos Romeiros and the lovely village of Leboreiro before arriving in Melide, where you cross a medieval bridge to reach the town.

Day 5 - Melide to Arzua
A short and pleasant walk allows you to savour the charming Galician hamlets of Boente and Castaneda. You end the day in Arzua, famed for its creamy local cheese – a well-earned treat after another fulfilling day on the trail.

Day 6 - Arzua to O Pedrouzo / Amenal
As your journey nears its end, today’s peaceful stretch is a chance to reflect on everything you’ve experienced so far. Rolling countryside and tranquil woodlands guide you to your final overnight stop before reaching Santiago.
19.3–22.6 km / approx. 4 hrs
Day 7 - O Pedrouzo / Amenal to Santiago de Compostela
Today’s the day! A mixture of excitement and emotion accompanies you as you walk the last steps toward Santiago. Passing Lavacolla and climbing Monte do Gozo, you catch your first glimpse of the majestic cathedral spires. Arriving in Plaza do Obradoiro, you celebrate this incredible achievement. Those who wish can attend the midday Pilgrim’s Mass at the Cathedral – a moving end to the Camino.

Day 8 - Santiago de Compostela
