Tunisia Beach Extension Exploration

Upon arrival at Enfidha or Tunis airport, you will be welcomed and assisted by our airport team and your driver. We will then transfer you comfortably to your hotel. We recommend arriving early to enjoy some free time in Sousse, a city known for its historic Medina, old port, and the leisure harbour of Port El Kantaoui. In the evening, we will have dinner together at the hotel. Overnight in Sousse.

We will meet you at the hotel reception at 8:00 am for a briefing before setting off on a one-hour drive to Kairouan, known as the Capital of Islam. Upon arrival, we will explore the old Medina on foot, visiting the Great Mosque of Kairouan, founded in 670 AD by the Arab general Uqba Ibn Nafi. This remarkable site draws visitors for its architectural and spiritual significance. Next, we will visit the Aghlabid water basins—two large reservoirs and several cisterns that have endured for centuries, once vital for the city’s water supply. Lunch is included in Gafsa, en route to Tozeur, the city of palm trees. Before checking into your hotel, we will take a 4x4 excursion through the desert oasis, passing dry salt lakes to reach the mountain oasis of Chebika. On the return journey to Tozeur, we will stop at the nearby Star Wars filming location in the Sahara Desert, where you may have the chance to catch the sunset. Dinner will be served at the hotel, where you will spend the night.

After breakfast, we begin the day with a visit to the centre of Tozeur, where you can observe the distinctive architectural styles of the town’s buildings. We then travel across Chott Djerid, Tunisia’s largest salt lake, offering vast, shimmering views of white and occasionally pink mirages. Arriving in Douz, known as the Gate of the Sahara, you will see the sand dunes rising on the southern edge of the town. Next, we visit Matmata, famous for its troglodyte dwellings—traditional underground homes carved into the earth by Berber communities, some of which remain inhabited today. This area also features a second Star Wars filming location open to visitors. After lunch, we continue to El Djem to explore its remarkable Roman amphitheatre, the second largest of its kind, dating back around 1,800 years and still impressively preserved. The amphitheatre was historically used for gladiatorial contests and other public spectacles. We then return to Sousse for the evening, where dinner will be served at the hotel.

After breakfast, we transfer to Tunis to begin a walking tour of the Medina, where you can explore at your own pace during some free time. Next, we visit the National Museum of Bardo, famed for its extensive mosaic collection and housed in a former Beylical palace within the old city. Lunch is served in La Goulette, en route to the ancient ruins of Carthage, set along a striking coastline. Although largely destroyed by the Romans, the site still reveals excavated homes, baths and sewage systems. We also visit the Amphitheatre of Carthage, dating back to the 1st century and rebuilt by the Romans; it now hosts the annual International Music Festival of Carthage, accommodating around 30,000 spectators. Finally, we head to the charming village of Sidi Bou Said, known for its whitewashed walls, blue doors and windows, and panoramic views over the Mediterranean from more than 100 metres above sea level. On the way to Hammamet, where you will spend the next four days at leisure, we stop at the Gulf of Yasmine for a Tunisian wine tasting. Dinner is served at the hotel. Overnight in Hammamet.

Wake up to your final breakfast at the hotel. Depending on your flight schedule, we will collect you from the hotel reception and transfer you directly to the airport for your departure, where our staff will be on hand to assist you.
