Itinerary
Day 1 - Tunis - Hammamet
Upon arrival at Tunis–Carthage International Airport, our team and your driver will welcome you and transfer you to your accommodation in Hammamet. You can spend the remainder of the day relaxing at the hotel or explore the local area at your leisure. In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner served at the hotel. Overnight stay in Hammamet.
Day 2 - Hammamet - Kairouan - Tozeur
After breakfast, we will collect you at around 8 am for the transfer to Kairouan. Upon arrival, take a guided walking tour through the old Medina, including a visit to the Great Mosque of Kairouan, founded in 670 AD by the Arab general Uqba Ibn Nafi. This mosque is a significant spiritual and architectural landmark, attracting visitors from around the world. Next, explore the Aghlabid basins—an impressive example of ancient water engineering consisting of two large basins and several cisterns that once conserved and distributed scarce drinking water. Following your time in Kairouan, we will continue south to Gafsa for lunch before arriving in Tozeur, known as the city of palm trees, at approximately 6 pm. You will stay overnight in Tozeur.
Day 3 - Tozeur - Douz
After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely morning at your hotel, making the most of its facilities. Following lunch, we travel from Tozeur across Chott el Djerid, Tunisia’s largest salt lake, renowned for its vast expanse of white and pink mirages and known as a filming location for Star Wars. We then arrive in Douz, often called the ‘gateway to the Sahara’. Here, you have free time to explore at your own pace or take an optional camel ride into the desert. Alternatively, from 8 am, you may choose to join an optional 4x4 excursion—either a desert drive through dry salt lakes to the stunning mountain oasis of Chebika, or a visit to another nearby Star Wars filming site just outside Tozeur. Overnight accommodation is in Douz.
Day 4 - Douz - Matmata - Djerba - Medenine
We begin the day at around 8 am with a drive to Matmata, known for its well-preserved troglodyte houses carved into the earth by Tunisian Berbers, which remain inhabited today. This area also features a Star Wars filming location open to visitors. Next, we continue to Djerba, often called the Island of Dreams, where lunch is served at a local restaurant. After lunch, we explore Houmt Souk, the island’s bustling town centre famed for its vibrant souks and the Djerba Hood—a street adorned with striking graffiti created by international artists in 2014. The day concludes with a hotel check-in around 6 pm, where you can relax and prepare for the evening. Overnight in Djerba.
Day 5 - Guellala - Medenine
After breakfast, we begin at around 8 am with a visit to the Jewish quarter of Erriadh in Djerba, centred on the El Ghriba Synagogue. Once home to around 20 synagogues, Erriadh remains a significant pilgrimage site, with El Ghriba notable for its modest exterior and richly decorated interior featuring colourful windows, tiles and well-preserved authentic furnishings. Today, Djerba is home to approximately 1,400 Jewish residents living alongside Muslim communities, reflecting the island’s diverse heritage. After lunch, we travel to Guellala, a village renowned for its pottery—an ancient craft that continues to be a vital part of the local economy. We return to the resort by approximately 6 pm for dinner and overnight in Djerba.
Day 6 - El Djem - Sousse
After breakfast at around 8 am, we travel to El Djem to visit the remarkable Roman amphitheatre, the second largest of its kind, built some 1,800 years ago. This exceptionally well-preserved site was primarily used for gladiatorial contests and other spectator events. Following the visit, we enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in El Djem. Later, we take a short walk around the leisure harbour of Port El Kantaoui, where you can browse for souvenirs or relax with a cup of Tunisian coffee or fresh juice while taking in the atmosphere. We then transfer to your hotel in Sousse, arriving around 6 pm for dinner and overnight.
Day 7 - Sousse - Sidi Bou Said - Carthage - Tunis
After breakfast, we will transfer you at around 8 am to the picturesque village of Sidi Bou Said, famed for its whitewashed walls and striking indigo blue doors and windows. Perched over 100 metres above sea level, the village offers stunning views across the Mediterranean. Next, we visit the nearby archaeological site of Carthage, set along a beautiful coastline. Although the ancient city was largely destroyed by the Romans, the UNESCO World Heritage Site reveals excavations of homes, baths and an ancient sewage system. We will also explore the Carthage amphitheatre, originally built in the first century AD and later rebuilt by the Romans. This impressive structure now hosts the annual International Music Festival of Carthage, welcoming around 30,000 visitors. After lunch, we head to downtown Tunis to visit the Bardo National Museum, housed in a former Beylical palace and renowned for its extensive mosaic collection. The day concludes with a visit to the ancient Medina of Tunis, where you will have some free time to explore before transferring to your hotel in Gammarth around 6 pm for check-in and dinner.
Day 8 - Tunis
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Tunis–Carthage International Airport for your departure, with assistance provided to ensure a smooth check-in. Depending on your flight schedule, lunch will be included either on arrival or departure day.
